An Underused Balancing Factor: Recoil

Recoil is a great way of balancing weapons. Generally in the game DPS is always the deciding factor for which weapons are best. This is because we rarely have to account for recoil. With the exception of a very small number of weapons, recoil never tends to be strong enough to matter, considering the engagement distances we usually fight in.

 

You know what would help, say, the Burston Prime as compared to the Boltor Prime? While the Boltor might have a greater DPS, the Burston would be more reliably accurate. This would also help give single weapons a reason to be used instead of their dual versions, and a reason for beam weapons like the Flux Rifle to be used instead of the Soma.

 

I'm not asking for ARMA levels of recoil. I'm just suggesting that it be utilized more as an option to balance weapons.
