Cynick
The only weapon I use Metal Auger on is my Vectis. The fire rate buff does next to nothing in that case and the extra punch through can be useful for a single shot weapon.
Duch99pl
shred has 1.2m punch trough while metal auger allows for 2/3m I believe. its just what you prefer Edited December 21, 2014 by Duch99pl
UltimateSpinDash
It's better on the Amprex because you really don't want more fire rate on that thing.
ZechsX18999
shred has 1.2m punch trough while metal auger allows for 2/3m I believe. its just what you prefer I know, but I'm saying that I never feel shred's punch through isn't enough, so more punch through wouldn't really do anything. Kuusoq
Pretty much what lokis said — Amprex and Vectis. Can't figure any other application for it.

Nira
Like others have said, it can be useful for weapons where you want the punch through without the fire rate that Shred will add. Grakata could be another possible application.
Loser_Prime
Glaxion is another weapon that benefits more from this mod rather than Shred.

Epademyc
Metal auger is an incredible mod! Metal auger, shred and split chamber's, punch through and multishot has some of the largest theoretical damage increases a rifle can have, and when used together they have a multiplicative effect. Metal auger may not always be the right choice, but if you change your playstyle to get your enemies lined up, boom one shot with shred, metal auger, and split chamber will multiply your per-bullet damage output if you hit all targets by an average of 8.17.Metal auger + shred punch through = 3.3Split chamber % = .9Number *hits* your bullet makes = 1(1+.9 pellets)*(1+3.3 punch through)=8.17 hits per shot fired on avg. This is a great mod for clearing crowded rooms. It is also always nice to use mods that increase damage, but don't make you lose ammo faster. Shred's bonus firing speed makes your ammo drain whereas metal auger does not, while giving comparable damage increases.
