Sentinel (Spartan/greek Warframe Concept) (Now With Concept Art!)

So a few ideas were going through my head, and I ran a few by my boyfriend. Originally it started as a Shield Knight, which a few of you may have seen earlier before I deleted it due to it being ill thought out and unpopular, and it soon evolved into Sentinel, a spartan/greek themed frame focused around the older styles and tactics of combat.

The embodiment of the might of Greece and her warriors, Sentinel takes damage almost as joyously as she gives it. Almost. With the ability to protect herself and her team mates, she'll summon weapons and warriors at will to carry on the fight of the ancient empire in the Tenno fashion. Any good warrior would know to lay down their arms and retreat when Sentinel appears on the battlefield.

Health:  265

Shields: 325

Armor: 100

Energy: 175

Powers!

1: Aegis

When activated, Aegis consumes 25 energy and forms a shield on Sentinel's left arm. She holds this shield in front of herself while wielding her weapon of choice in her right single handed, using the shield as a balance if it's a primary. The shield deflects all damage, AOE included, from a fairly wide angle directly in front of Sentinel and lasts for 20 seconds. (Leveling up increases the shield's affect area, and time)

2: Warrior's Reach

Warrior's Reach is a simplistic, yet lethal power. Consuming 50 energy on use, Sentinel spawns a large energy spear in her left hand, and throws it with deadly accuracy and force. The spear impales any target it hits, dealing Puncture, up to a max of 5 enemies and taking them for the ride. When it hits a solid object/reaches the max number of passengers, the spear explodes, dealing additional explosive damage in a small AoE. (Leveling up increases impalement capacity, starting at 2, and increases overall damage)

3: Spartan Wall

Dropping to one knee, Sentinel will spawn a long line of shields to either side while consuming 75 energy, making an impassable (for enemies) wall. Shadowy figures will hold the shields up, firing Latos between the shields for moderate amounts of damage to enemies. Any enemies who impacts the shields will be thrown back by the shield being shoved forward violently. Airborne enemies can simply fly over it, and anyone behind it will be ignored entirely. The figures can be killed if damaged enough. (Leveling up will increase duration and damage done by spawned figures, as well as their health)

4: Path of the Empire

Sentinel will stand her ground, spawning a curved phalanx to either side of herself, utilizing the shadowy warriors of Spartan Wall, each one carrying a shield but replacing their Latos with spears and gladius'. Sentinel and the shadowy figures will charge forward, doing impact damage to those who hit the shields and puncture/slash to those the figures target with their swords and spears. After 5 seconds, the phalanx will break apart, and the shadowy figures will scatter to target anything that survived the lethal charge for another 10 seconds before disappearing. Figures can be killed if damaged enough after they scatter from the phalanx, but are invincible during the charge. (Leveling up increases damage, time and health)

The power augments from syndicates would be relatively simple, but useful.

::Shield of Mirrors::

Aegis now not only absorbs incoming damage, but will also reflect it (Except AoE) in an enemy's direction. Not a guaranteed hit.

::Bladed Spear::

Warrior's Reach now launches a modified spear with blades along it's shaft, replacing the explosive property with an equal amount of slash damage.

::Commander's Bolster::

The Spartan's, instead of being an impassable wall, will leave a space open in the middle for Sentinel to stand in. When Sentinel stands in this space and fights alongside her Spartans, their damage, health, and firing speed increases, making a considerably more lethal wall of shields, guns and destruction.

::Bloody Road::

Path of the Empire will now have spiked shields and longer swords, giving the Spartans a lengthier slice and giving the shields added puncture damage.

A concept I made quite a while ago, only recently revisioned thanks to the amazing work of Arch111. A talented artist helping out people's dreams with their concepts. Props to this man!

Interesting. It sounds like a solo's dreamframe, was this intentional?

Allso how do you envision the appearance?

Not really, I was more intent on a tanky frame, but now that I look at it Sentinel could be a very good solo specialist, with a moderate amount of team play utility.

As for the appearance, Sentinel would obviously be based off of Greek Spartans. Battle skirt, chest plate, bare arms and legs with forearm gloves/bracers and shin protectors/boots. Sentinel would have a lot of these characteristics. Armored a bit more heavily on the forearms and shins, battle skirt (Whatever gender Sentinel happens to be), flexible chest plate, possibly a smooth, but layered helmet with a long frill going from front down the back of the head.. A very sensible armored ensemble with the Tenno feel of thick leather like armor that's close fit to the body for mobility. The most free flowing of the design would be the battle skirt/kilt and the frill along the head. An upside down V for a visor wouldn't go amiss, I think.

Any suggestions?

I think the key is inspired by rather than built after. A tenno biotech version if you will, maby a blend of Loki and Oberon in a way but naturally with the Spartan characteristics.

These designs, like a knight or witch is hard since we have such human ways of thinking of them.

I guess the question is, how do a sci-fi Tenno warrior Spartan God several thousand years into the future really look?

Hm. That is a rather hard question to answer, to be honest. I'd say something like the Spartans from Halo, but they're more like Greek spartans in spirit.

I still believe keeping the combat skirt/kilt and at least the vambraces would be necessary. A quick search on Google found me a few interesting things.

Firstly, an interesting faceplate design I thought would be neat, and fits with the layered metal design.

And then I found an interesting full body suit. Obviously it would have to be slimmed down, but the general look of it seems nice.

Have you seen Volcanos by Redskittlez? That is pretty straight forward what you described initially.

Personally I find the Halo spartans and the like to look to much like power-armor and not so much organic high-tech that are warframes.

However, Volt and Ember have some hard features and it IS a suit or armor after all.

Well, both Sentinel and Volcanos are inspired by Greek/Romans, though Sentinel is a more specifically Sparta. And the Halo Spartans are just that. They don't have Warframe's look, nor a Spartan look, so I didn't go with that.

And they do have hard features, but it's more decoration than anything, something to make them stand out more, rather than actual pieces of their armor.

I have had this in the back of my mind. The sparta-theme really gave me problems and the art I did turned out way too generic.

I have not dropped the idea and it IS still on my mind.

And, yes I still really like the concept.

Hi all. After doing a bit of thinking I came up with a design. I tried to not make it TOO literal, still Spartan in theme, but allso Tenno.

-Snip-

I hope you like it.

...See, that's @(*()$ cool. I honestly wasn't expecting something of that quality. I love it!

I really appreciate your time and effort, this is perfect.

The only similarity that I can see is that they have spears. A gladiator and a greek spartan are drastically different. Plus, the spears operate completely differently.

I would say that sentinel doesn't make a good name as we already have sentinel companions. A better name in my opinion would be Athena.

Yeah, I've been trying to think of a new one, but I'm not sure what. Athena wouldn't work, as uh.. well, Athena was the Greek virgin goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature.
