Otaiken
That thing is way too short from a gameplay perspective too. We already have some hit detection issues on melee, short weapons really suffer from this. Rapier probably should have some good range on it. Especially if it's mostly thrusting weapon, as you sacrifice AoE of other melee, you should at least get a good range (and possibly damage/armor penetration). Saying it's too short is imho perfectly valid concern from both gameplay and theme perspective. Also, it really is a tad short. That is slightly above gladius length. Actually it seems just slightly longer than Silva blade. And Silva does have pretty short range along with some hit detection issues I mentioned. Lastly, the longer version imho even looks better. _Chaser
The longer rapiers are - the better they are as the more range you have to stab, it's kinda obvious
Eidolon_Slayer
Rapiers really should basically be thin two handed long-swords wielded in one hand (which is why they're often more difficult to use than a long-sword). The point of rapiers is that they're close to being ranged-melee as depicted by their combat techniques. Taking away that range by shortening the blade length pretty much defeats the intended functionality of a rapier. Also, rapiers aren't necessarily only used for thrusting. For example, the Estoc in Dark Souls 2 is a larger rapier with horizontal slash capability. If a Warframe can shoot high-recoil weapons single-handedly, or swing a great-sword swiftly with one hand. There's no reason why they couldn't cut an enemy in half via slash by rapier. Edited June 16, 2015 by Prometheium
Holeypaladin
Rapiers are cut and thrust weapons, especially the earlier variants and the precursor to the rapier (side sword). While their primary damage type is puncture, they're still fully slash capable weapons. If we want a sword that's all thrusts and no cuts, we should be asking for a smallsword instead.
