A Change To Ivara's Prowl

Ivara's Prowl is a pretty good stealth skill, being a constant energy drain rather than a set duration like Loki. Firing a loud weapon will break Prowl temporarily, and when you stop firing, your cloak resumes. 

 

It's not the same for parkour, however. Every parkour move besides rolling cancels the skill entirely, forcing you to stop and recast it. I'd like it if parkour merely interrupted the invisibility, like firing a loud weapon does. If you start sprinting, your cloak drops until you stop sprinting, and the same with the other parkour moves.

Personally I think sprinting should be enabled in prowl mode but should DRASTICALLY increase the energy drain per second while sprinting.

 Like Navigator without any efficiency mods?

 

And regardless, I think Prowl is fine the way it is. It kinda makes sense, I mean, it is called "Prowl" There is no timer, and it's limited by energy drain. Might as well have a few things that just turn it off. Jumping, Double Jumping, Rolling, and using ziplines keep you in Prowl, while bullet jumping, sliding, or sprinting take you out of it, and if you're invisible and take damage, your energy just gets DROPPED. 

 

Personally I think it's fine, but, to each their own.

I'm fine with not being able to stay in prowl while using parkour, I just want it to automatically re-cast when I'm done with that action.

Yeah. We have enough abilities that have undocumented and sometimes inconsistent functionality, it'd be nice if everything just recloaked you automatically.

Remember, even as a toggle skill, you're still forced to lose energy by having to pay the upfront cast cost again. That's the second reason why the ability being broke doesn't sit well with me. Needless punish if I accidentally hit the shift or c key or something

Well that's sort of the penalty of it all. Okay, you can move slow, limited mobility as far as parkour movements. 

 

It should really deactivate when you look at it in another sense. I like to imagine it like a modern shooter. You have a sniper and a ghillie suit, the suit being prowl in my mind. You fire, they are aware of your last known position (When you decloak then recloak) But if you suddenly get up from the field and start running (Sprinting or Bullet Jump) They know you're there and would have to completely relocate. Or in this case, cast the ability once more.

 

I understand that you want it to toggle back on, but I don't see any problems with something like that. I'd go as to say maybe a half/half for this. Basically the way it is, but make it so you only recloak after a short period of sprinting, which like Geezues said, will cost a fair amount more energy, but recloak, while leaving the parkour aspects alone.

Not all the parkour moves disable it. You can wallrun while staying invisible. Bullet jump, sprinting, ledge grab, and sliding break it though and I wouldn't mind it acting like firing a loud weapon and re-cloaking after the action.

Sliding shouldn't be breaking it anyway

Great Idea!

 

Prowl works perfectly as Intended, but I feel you we should be able to sprint with the cost off a heavier Drain. 

That should settle this Thread in a Few words.
