Keep in mind that the current function only moves the camera. It does not switch your firing should, which means that weapons that are not hitscan can potentially shoot into the cover you're behind.

 

If you ask me, we should be able to switch both camera and handedness. This is a thing that worked smoothly, and automatically, in the Army of Two games.

The bows are capable of switching shoulders as well. It's a matter of getting it to work and supporting it.

I think it was also also done quite nicely in the inFamous games.
