I Have Always Been Wondering What This Pressure Plate Does In The Void (Screenshot Included)

First of all, yes I know there's a secret room, but it has nothing to do with the pressure plate.

Is there a secret to be hold or is that pressure plate broken and from an old operation?

Turrets never activates in that room somehow, like it's just for decoration.

I know the most pressure plates and not known hidden loot rooms(There are a lot more and people don't search them).

 

Anyways, this pressure plate is a mystery to me.

Turrets have been broken in the void for quite some time. DE's apparently addressed this issue but you get to see a working turret once in a blue moon, despite walking over various pressure plates.

I seem to have encountered more working turrets recently, especially in that large room in the void, with the walls that were fixed in U18.4. I commonly find myself getting shot by the turrets in that room. Damage is pretty minimal, but the RoF is stunning, and thus makes them dangerous,
