It is also very useful on any weapon that might be used to fuel Toggle melee abilities like Exalted Blade, Hysteria, Primal Fury... As it increases the reach of said abilities (the side of waves in EB case)

Stand corrected about EB after more research

It's actually very noticeable on every weapon you put it on. But of course, you get the most out of it on weapons with innate high reach, e.g. Orthos Prime.

I'd say test it in the Simulacrum and use it if you like it, can't really go wrong with that mod.

Edit: Something to consider: It doesn't affect ground slam range.

I use it on most of my weapons. Each additional enemy you hit per hit basically doubles your damage output making Primed Reach on almost all melee weapons worth the slot. Exceptions being daggers and fist like weapons. Most of them have such terrible reach that Primed Reach hardly makes a difference.

With Nikanas it's a mixed bag as well. Only Tranquil Cleave does not suffer from strange hit boxes and actually fully benefits from using Primed Reach. On the other Nikana stances it barely makes a difference and most attacks are still basically only single target.

On dual swords like Dual Cleavers or the Dual Kamas Prime Primed Reach makes a HUGE difference and is definitely worth using.

It doesn't affect the width of EB's waves at all. It only expands the size of the actual sword swing, just like with any other melee weapon.

The larger melee hitbox means that it's easier to hit an enemy with the wave and blade at the same time, though (essentially doubling your damage on targets within melee range), so if you don't fancy a crit build and you like fighting up close, then Primed Reach can still be worth looking at for Excal.
