Ive been playing for a while now. First it seemed cool to have a "panic button" that clears the area full of enemies. But now its just lame.

To actually have some sort of fun and challenge, i totally MUST go somewhere solo with my Loki. Otherwise its just lame - players race to the biggest group of enemies in order to press 4 and get the kills.

So many frames have a powerful ability that can be spammed and deals tons of damage - It kills any need for teamwork and skill.

So, how about we do something like these:

1) charge your ultimate - hold 4 to start charging and spending energy (if it is interrupted by a knockdown, energy is wasted and no damage is dealt). After some time charging - you release the power and kill everything.

2) make a cooldown for powerful abilities - but i can already see players not entering another room because they have an ability on a cooldown.

3) another difficulty mode with limited number of uses for an ability - if you may only use your Miasma 3 times per mission, you will definitely save it for a tricky situation.

All games are repetitive clicks or key presses. Hell life is repetitive movement. If something is broken down to the fundamentals.. It's always going to be the same as everything else.

LMFAO

That's awesome!

Thank you Mr. Sunshine !

You just made my day. (Exactly like yesterday.)

Or how about we get some actually difficult content instead? Wow, I'm a genius!

P.S. Every time someone cries "nerf" there a baby getting drowned in a bag. Not a kitty, a baby.

Ok, seriously? This again?

Allow me to put my two cents in :

About the only time I use an ultimate is when in trouble, or I want to quickly rush through something. If others start complaining about it, I'm willing to stop. Of course this is not the case with many others. Running about as an Ember on Xini <Eris> lighting Infested on fire to rush through for Void Keys? Many people I have seen have no issues as long as I stay near the cryo, which I do since I'm working on my 'frame experience to quickly reach 30.

Another thing : The only real way to quickly rank up any warframe is to actually -USE- your warframe for what it was built for.

Again, Xini? I'm sitting there on top of the three boxes left of Cryo if you're facing toward spawn and using WoF if I'm Ember. Frost? I'm in front of the stairs spamming Ice Wave or Avalanche to dispose of enemies. If I run out of energy, who's fault is that? Certainly not your teammates fault. It just means that someone wasn't keeping tabs on their energy output and gives the potential for failure for the team.

Kappa? I'm usually sitting in front of the defense posts with my Braton and selectively taking targets down from their entry. If they get too close to the defense position? Ultimate or the use of a skill more suited. In some instances..Ice Wave.

Mind, I own Loki, Ash, Vauban, Frost Prime, Ember, and Volt, and I use each ultimate, or skill, when I see fit.

Ulimates are MEANT for mass destruction at a high cost of energy. How you use that energy, is up to you. Just don't complain when you fall on your arse because you couldn't cast your ulimate due to lack of energy.

And damage is sometimes not all that great. Example : Rhino. Does Rhino's (new) Stomp do much good for spamming with its base 700 damage and suspension? Not always! Try running T3. Friend of mine uses Stomp then shoots each target, AS IT SHOULD BE USED.

Kindly do not nerf Ultimates, as they are fine as is. High cost for something that is sometimes not frequently found (Yes there is times that energy is plentiful, but not always) makes it what it is. If you can't manage your skill use along with your basic combat ability and fall on your arse, you have a long ways to go.

Ok.

Last statement because this seems to have been bumped a couple times.

An Ultimate is one last draw of strength. A final desperate attempt.

Using all of your energy reserves in one dramatic let out of fantastic display.

However, It does not seem reasonable to use these back to back to back without a break. That ruins what they are there for.

Ultimate's will be less useful in nightmare mode, because their damage is a fixed rate.. sure it can kill up to level 30's instantly, but anything higher than that.. and you are having issues.

On a defence mission on Pluto, the mobs got up to 100 before we failed, but in the interim.... I'd have a full 225 energy, with efficiency mod on my frost.. and increased damage.. hitting for 1250 per ultimate... and I would have to use 3 casts to kill the low mobs, like chargers, runners, and leapers.. but those ancients let me know that they werent too happy with getting hit with spitballs.

This topic is a joke. I have max flow, streamline, stretch and all abilities maxed,... I play ash, saryn, volt, mag....I can spam my ult 5 times in a row, and enemies are still coming.... this thread makes me sad the point of this game is to become OP... Even maxing abilities and with 4-6 star items I'm just now on pluto playing comfortably.....joke thread IMO.

1. Why are you complaining? The massive AOE killing is a massive ball of exp for everyone. In mobile defense missions, more you kill --> more they respawn --> more drops and more exp. I would actually PREFER that my teammates go around and nuking everything.

2. Ever try defense wave higher than 25? At level 80 or higher, all enemies (especially ancients) shrug off all ultimate skill damage like mosquito bites. So if anything, they don't do enough damage when you need it the most

Why do people get so buthurt when others actually have fun with their skills ? And if they get bored with them then they just start screaming nerf this nerf that i don't like it anymore i don't want people playing with me unless they're playing my exact way so I'll keep spamming the forums with existing threads of why my playstyle is superior and how they should make the game just for me and a select few others instead of just me and those others playing together.

So yeah that's a no for me :I

Well it doesn't require a nerf of some sort, just a reworking. When you have fun with your uber Aoe and kill everything, you take from someone elses fun who may have wanted to get a kill of some sort. Maybe they wanted to kill something with some style as people who kill using aoe's mindlessly spam it thinking it's cool and everyone else should think it's cool but in actuality, it's way too overused.

You're leaving out the fact that by the time more enemies come, the clusters upon clusters of enemies you have killed just recently gives you even more energy to continue spamming even if more enemies come. You imply that 5-6 ults is your limit forever.

The only issue is that players kill way off in the distance and don't allow for others to gain affinity.

I agree with this, they are a last resort, not a spam ability. I think increasing the energy they require respective to each warframe might be the way to go, as it becomes more costly and forces the player to think before mindlessly spamming.

If you dont like people just spamming their ults all the time find a group of players that dont, add them to your contacts, and play with them more than joining random groups.

Most of the groups I join dont spam ults unless it is needed. The last time my standard group spammed ults was in a room that spawned 6 high level ancient disrupters and a lot of other enemies. Apparently my group is an aberration because we actually use all of our abilities as we need them, even abilities like shield polarize and such.

The only ult that I will "spam" in large groups (and by that I mean use maybe 5 times in a single mission) is vaubans vortex, and that is mainly to cover our backs from a horde of charging infested while we deal with what's in front of us.

Because of how reliant this game is on co-op you have to work to find people that matches your playstyle. And just because you dont like to spam your ults doesn't mean that the option to do so should be taken away from everyone else as YOU can choose not to spam YOUR ults and it would be just fine.

A person who builds their frame around being able to throw out ults all the time should be able to spam them a bit as they are sacrificing survivability to be able to do that. Furthermore what about the high wave count defense missions where the ults are really the only way of slowing down enemies and damaging large groups so that they are easier to take out with gunplay? You cant just say to slap on a CD or recovery animation at the end that would work for medium level play without considering what it would do to high level play.

Well if it comes down to it, that means that this co-op game is separated nearly into two groups: those that want to play more skillfully and those that want to spam ults all day. There's not even a middle line if spamming ults is tolerable or not tolerable by different parts of the community. Personally spamming ults is not the way to go as it is mindless and doesn't offer any advance gameplay as well as remove from the enjoyment of others.

And yes, nerfing it is rarely the way to go but if it needs to be done then it should. Ults are there as a last resort and not for spamming. Why do you think Nyx had her Chaos nerfed? Everyone would have made a Nyx at some point and just spammed Chaos if they wanted to mindlessly farm. Unfortunately DE does not want people to mindlessly farm at the expense of others, so of course they nerfed this. The same can be said about ult spamming.

From what I see and many others have mentioned, ults should be seen as a last resort, not a mindless win button which many of them have turned out to be. The only viable way to resolve this from what I expect, is that the ults have a larger energy cost because it forces the player to adapt when they are unable to use an ult and when time comes, they can use their ult within reason, as a last resort or serve a tactical function.

5) From what I see and many others have mentioned, ults should be seen as a last resort, not a mindless win button which many of them have turned out to be.

1) Don't forget rushers vs explorers and that's why you have a contacts list so you can build a collection of like minded players to play with. When you find people whose style you agree with send them a contact request, you'll have a list in no time. Well certainty less then a month, maybe even less then a week depending on how much you play.

2) Opinion. The Devs have provided tools, I as the player can use them however I choose.

3) I do not presume to know because I am not in fact on the Dev team.

4) Conjecture and presumption. I for example have little to no interest in Nyx aside from the novelty of mind control. I like my Ex cali P, Banshee, and Saryn. I'm actually one of the (probably) few who ended up with all the parts for Vauban and didn't build him. I have no interest in his abilities. As for farming, I don't need to and have never needed to. If you sit back and play the game you usually end up with what you need unless you go crazy and try to build every Bp all at once.

5) Again opinion.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The huge steaming problem with any form of nerf to any power is we are already at a point in the game where if you go to the high end most powers (including the ults this thread is beeotching about) are worthless and you are reduced to your guns. Ults like shock and sound quake leave you vulnerable. Roll up on a group of level 50 + mobs and trying using either of those, you'll get your face stomped. During shock you will get your face stomped while it's going off and as for sound quake the split second it stops all the mobs that are not dead (which at that level will be most of them) will literally be pile driving you before Banshee has a chance to stand up, meaning the mobs are on you before the player gets control back.

No a nerf is not needed. If you are really bothered by people using their ults then go to a high enough level to where the said ult is already neutralized due to the level of the mobs. If people using the frame power is bothering you, you are at too low of a level. Not the fault of the other player or their frame's power.

In addition, what is the point if you do not have effective powers? Without the powers this is just another shooter. And again it depends on who you play with. Me and my mates don't use our powers unless we need them, but that's how we choose to play by unspoken agreement. Part of the reason I rarely play online games is because I like coordinating with my mates in raidcall. I see no reason to effect the game play of ALL just because a FEW don't like the way the powers are being deployed. Especially when it's avoidable, again contacts list / join a like minded clan.

The downside currently is Damage skills don't scale to level.

What might be an instant kill at low or mid levels, at high levels suddenly require you to cast your ultimate skills multiple times just to kill some mooks or even slow them down. In effect it becomes the panic button that we all need. CC and gunplay becomes more and more important, so caster frames that lack powerful buffs or debuffs will start getting hurt real bad endgame.

Currently DE has no plans to buff up skills for high end play, until that is fixed, we should not rush into the nerf ultimate bandwagon "cos it makes things too easy hurr".

I agree with you on this yet we have yet to see these more end-game content that will be harder and require often use of ults. For now this is a problem for lower ranked people trying to play and having these high level ult spammers join their party and ruin their fun. A huge letdown for most people starting to get interested in this game, and readily turned away.

5) From what I see and many others have mentioned, ults should be seen as a last resort, not a mindless win button which many of them have turned out to be.

1) Its already split just that way between rushes and explores.  Same argument can be raised there.  The solution?  Build a contact list and play with those people.  All you're problems with pugs will then be solved.

2) Opinion.  If I take the time and spec my warframe to toss out ults all day long I should be able to toss out ults all day long.  Im sacrificing other things to achieve that so what right do you have to stop my play style?

3) Why was her chaos nerfed?  it was OP as hell because it had NO time limit.  Not because DE wanted people to not endlessly farm with it, but because it was BROKEN and OP.  That is why it was 'nerfed' and had a maximum time limit added to it.  ALSO Chaos is NOT Nyx's ult...Absorb is her ult so please dont bring in a number 3 ability into this when it has no bearing on the conversation.

4a) Opinion.  I dont have any interest in Nyx even before they added a time limit to how long Chaos lasted.

4b) Refer to 3.  Ult spamming had nothing to do with what they did to Chaos.

5) Again opinion.

Hmm..3 of your 6 points are opinion based....maybe that means you should play with people of similar opinions?  Just a thought.

I agree with you on this yet we have yet to see these more end-game content that will be harder and require often use of ults. For now this is a problem for lower ranked people trying to play and having these high level ult spammers join their party and ruin their fun. A huge letdown for most people starting to get interested in this game, and readily turned away.

Again not a reason to prevent people from using their powers as they see fit.  There are plenty of low level groups that dont spam abilities and ults, and plenty that do.

It might ruin your fun, but for quite a few new players I have played with, when I drop an avalanche and clear a room I get messages of "Wow" and "Cool" and "I cant wait to be able to do that".  It shows people how fun the game can be.

Just because you dont like it doesnt mean that it should be ruined for the people who do like it.

Just throwing this out there...

Has anyone who is crying to nerf the ults considered that having them might be, ya know, fun?

You don't like them?  Don't use them.

Your teammates keep doing it?  Find some people who won't spam it.

The thing is, ults are one of the things that I actually really like about this game, cause in a hairy situation, it doesn't reduce the game to basically being a cover shooter like every other game out there.  Yes there is challenge/ excitement to being pinned down by a group of enemies, but if you are more concerned with the feeling of being pinned down, you'd probably be more interested in a cover shooter.  Simply put, the ults simply keep the pace fast, cause as soon as you start taking cover, the pace of the game is considerably slowed.

1) The huge steaming problem with any form of nerf to any power is we are already at a point in the game where if you go to the high end most powers (including the ults this thread is beeotching about) are worthless and you are reduced to your guns.

2) Ults like shock and sound quake leave you vulnerable.

3) No a nerf is not needed. If you are really bothered by people using their ults then go to a high enough level to where the said ult is already neutralized due to the level of the mobs. If people using the frame power are bothering you, you are at too low of a level. Not the fault of the other player or their frame's power.

4) In addition, what is the point if you do not have effective powers? Without the powers this is just another shooter. And again it depends on who you play with. Me and my mates don't use our powers unless we need them, but that's how we choose to play by unspoken agreement. Part of the reason I rarely play online games is because I like coordinating with my mates in raidcall. (What? Not relavent nor logical, in fact contradictory.) I see no reason to effect the game play of ALL just because a FEW don't like the way the powers are being deployed. Especially when it's avoidable, again contacts list / join a like minded clan.

1) That leaves many players with the option of playing with pugs, which should be a comparable alternative if not equal. Many players are on a schedule that does not allow them to play consistently with a pre-formed group of other like-minded players or to join a clan sizable enough to be active consistently. DE should not exclude a certain group of players because pugs are not a viable option to play in.

2) There should be a limitation on how much one player gets to enjoy at the expense of another. Giving it some thought, if one player were to mass-kill solely, that would greatly depreciate from the enjoyment of the other teammates. It's been more obvious that the morality of the general consensus is to farm efficiently at the expense of others without wholeheartedly enjoying the game itself, through more recent player actions of ult spamming.

3) My presumption was based off of hard evidence as you can clearly go look at the pre-nerf Nyx videos on youtube, to which players could solo Xini upth-80+ waves at a time. It also shows through the actions of the players as you can find many Nyx players in defense missions at the time. DE rightly nerfed as needed.

4) Of course none of the players know what the DE's thought exactly when nerfing Nyx's Chaos, but if given a general thought amongst them, many would have agreed that Nyx was your go-to for Endless Defense win button during that time and that needed a nerf considering how overly-advantageous that was in comparison to other warframes.

People have a perfectionist attitude, and many can attribute to that. That is how many game companies thrive and is the secret to success as large game industries have mentioned, such as Blizzard for one. It doesn't mean that a player can sit back and enjoy what they have, but the more game-oriented player will strive to gain most of what they can deem valuable in their eyes.

5) Not going to argue with this because it is indeed an opinion, but it is the basis of my argument. Just to reiterate, the frequency of an ult shouldn't be based on how quickly someone can press a button without thorough thought or planning. A game such as this is meant to be engaging and thought put into actions with distinct results and consequences. There's always kiddie games with beautiful colors on your app store if you want that alternative.

----------------------------------------------------------------

1) The issue you have stated is not the one currently discussed. But I will touch on it: The issue you state implies the fact that harder enemies are meant to be hard, and lower-leveled enemies are meant to be easier, and somehow that the ults are not up-to-par with the enemies. That seems entirely appropriate that the difficulty of the enemies and their respective damage is taken into considerable scaling. The more underlying issue is that higher-ranked players will go into lower level content, as I can assume from the level brackets DE put in place, and blow through easy content, because it is entirely within reason for them to do so, as there are resources there they need to get. Yet nothing entirely prevents the higher-ranked player from choosing a lower-leveled mission as opposed to a higher level mission.

2) Ults that are well-placed and have some thought put into them are immensely effective with little to no consequence. What you have stated there is an issue of play-style rather than downsides or cons to counterbalance the pros or advantages with using an ult.

3) Again, you assume that all players have access to higher level content or missions. Higher ranked players are able to enter lower-leveled missions yet nothing allows for newer or slower players to enter high areas, which creates a power gap between the players within that mission. For many new players, a sight such as this would be a novelty if occasional, yet this is not the case and the higher-ranked players are at free will to ruin a new players game. This is now how new players to the game should have their first experiences, especially in that of a pug, as they have not enough time to form groups or join clans yet. Being a co-op game, the impression of the game onto the new players or even an avid gamer will be entirely on how the game is implemented or the players around then act.

4) Let me answer your question with a question: What is the point if you have pan-effective powers at most levels? With pan-effective powers, this is just another caster-based game. And again, it depends on who you get to play with. Of course players will be inclined towards team-play but when a skill becomes effective for most cases, there is only moral conduct through action of the general population that will determine how poorly or even greatly that skill comes into utilization. I see no reason to effect the game-play of MANY just because MANY are inclined to abuse an efficient system, especially when it's unavoidable.

These abilities have become more prevalent as of late. Instead of "Ah cool/Wow!" and other comments, I see players irritably state that players that go off on their own spamming these ults are just a nuisance, only to cause more trouble than to promote game-play.

Again just because you like it, doesn't mean that it should ruin the game for the others that don't like ult spam.

...

3) another difficulty mode with limited number of uses for an ability - if you may only use your Miasma 3 times per mission, you will definitely save it for a tricky situation.

This is still beta people. They're still evaluating, changing and evolving. They've already announced in the Live Streams that they're working on other modes. They're tentatively calling them "nightmare" mode, which involve not only handicaps, but RANDOM handicaps. The example they gave was a melee only mode.

Be patient. More is coming.
