A new level of crits - Purple crits?

I was doing that troll alert with the level 9999 enemies, using a Covert Lethality karyst with Ivara, when i witnessed a peculiar number color. It was a light purple number, higher than any number i had done in damage, but unfortunately i was not quick enough to screenshot. When i asked my team, another Ivara CL said he saw the same thing. Anyone else experienced this new level of crit? Or is it just a bug.

Overshield Damage, its not critical damage

purple dmg is the dmg u do to overshielded enemies. when the shield osprey is covering a crewmen, and u dmg a that crewmen, it'll sometimes show purple dmg......at least that's how I understand it

It is indeed overshield damage, although most of the time it seems to be a display bug, possibly involving calculations being performed in the wrong order or something, as no actual overshields are involved.

The purple damage numbers are mostly relevant in conclave, where enemies actually have overshields sometimes.
