Energy Channel Melee mod

I've had the mod for a long time before my break even (a whole year) and I've never been too clear is it, all energy expended goes towards getting used and it's only used when 200 extra damage is stored up?

Forgot to add that 200 extra, is it counted as channeling?

200% of the energy you use is stored - and it is energy used, not the "normal" cost of the ability. It will store up to 200 points of energy in order to deal up to 200 points of damage. All energy stored is used on the next melee hit - it doesn't matter if you've stored 1 point or 200, what you have is used when you hit. This extra damage is *not* increased by Point Strike and similar +damage mods, and it cannot crit. It does affect elemental damage mods though.

And no, it does not count as Channelling.
