Leveret held up his hands. "Whoa, sorry. Didn't mean to scare you there. Either way, though, you're not looking great. You're not with perrin, are you?"

The whole time, Kbeel sat at his feet. When this New Person leveled a gun at them, she growled quietly, but settled almost immediately when the weapon was holstered, returning to her happy panting.

"No. Why do you ask?"

Well, not technically. But why was he asking? Unless...

"Wait... Are you working for Steel Meridian?" He asked, slowly backing away. He had placed his datapad in a pocket.

"Oh for-" Leveret sighed. "I won't lie, yes, I work for Steel Meridian. I'm not gonna hurt you, though, so take a moment and calm down. You're not in any state to go walking around, let alone running, which you seem to want to do."

He still wasn't sure what to do. On the one hand, this Tenno likely wasn't trying to kill him. On the other hand, he aided Steel Meridian.

But if he finds out, I'm screwed.

He didn't come this far just to be killed by some Tenno. Only he knew all of this. He needed to live, if only a bit longer.

"Fine. What do you suggest?"

"Food and something to drink, for starters. And something to wear that's more appropriate for the environment. In exchange, you're gonna do some explaining."

(Alright, cool. Looks like we'll have two characters there, then.)

(iirc my other set of chars are still at deadwood, although don't expect major action from them unless it's started by an outside source)

"What do you want to know?" He asked suspiciously. He wasn't sure what he would have to answer, but he knew he wasn't leaving here until he gave his answers. May as well answer them.

With varying degrees of truth.

"Assuming you are, in fact, not perrin, what are you? Corpus? Freelance? Fugitive?"

The way he asked made it clear he wasn't going to believe anything right away, but it seemed as though Leveret didn't consider him an immediate threat.

"At the moment, I guess I'm technically a fugitive." He responded hesitantly. He felt some degree of truth would gain the trust of the Tenno, and these Tenno always like fugitives for whatever reason. He reached for his datapad, but didn't look at it.

He nodded, satisfied enough with his answer, and made a motion to follow, starting towards his ship at comfortably slow pace. "Good enough for now. I have supplies in my mantis. Name's Leveret, by the way. What should I call you?"

As he walked, Kbeel trotted along behind him, keeping herself between the two of them the whole time. ((good god....so many pronouns to juggle.....I'll do better in the next post lol))

Do I trust him, though? I guess i should stick to a backup alias.

"My name's... uh... Efahz." He responded, hesitant once again. He was visibly nervous. He was clearly shaking, and was stuttering during the last sentence."

"Good. I don't care if that's your real name or not. Come on, then, before you pass out," he said, doing his best to sound friendly and non-threatening, rather than mildly frustrated.

"Efahz" Was stumbling every few steps, clearly very dehydrated. His mild limp only made it worse.

He still wasn't sure to trust Leveret or not. He had offered help, but he was also suspicious. And dangerous.

((I'm assuming that you don't intend for the other to follow, correct?))

"The outer fringes of the charted fields of wreckage." Abigail repeats dryly.

As Mia and Aria leave, Abigail steps out of her warframe, pulling out a roll of fume from a pocket of her suit and igniting it. Black smoke drifts upwards as she takes in a deep pull, and she sighs in relief. Sarah had tried to get wean her off the stuff, but Abigail had never been able to fully quit.

Marcus gave her a meaningful look, but she ignored it, savoring the feeling of warmth flowing through her.

"If you're done...." he said, his disapproval apparent in his voice, "We should plan our next course of action."

Out on the outskirts, Aria fires off a ripline straight up into the dusky skies, like a frog catching a flie in midair. Though seemingly flying at nothing, the void whip catches onto *something*, as the line snaps and reels back in tautly. Giving it a quick tug, the cat backpack begins to haul her willing(?) load up into the air. As the duo start to rise, the second cloaked mass jumps onto the Valkyr's head, a smooth mat of gold and yellow fur of a kubrow coming into view.

The roar of twin engines cuts through the silence, as a landing craft pulls the pair towards the outer limits of the settlements`work areas, arriving before the sun finally sets over the horizon.

Leveret led the way back to his ship, careful to keep a pace Efahz could handle. Luckily, his mantis wasn't far, and the loading ramp opened with a welcoming whoosh of air as they approached.

Efahz looked at the ship for a moment, looking fir traps of any kind, before walking up the ramp. His limp only made it harder, but he succeeded after a while. He looked around the interior of the Mantis, studying his surroundings.

This was probably the most cluttered ship interior he'd seen in a while. Crates and nets full of salvage, half-repaired machinery, all barely sorted into makeshift piles shoved up against the walls. Loose martian sand sat in a thin layer on the floor. Leveret pulled out a crate for Efahz to sit on and began rummaging through a box for supplies.

Efahz sat down cautiously, immediately pulling out his datapad. Efahz was facing in the direction of Leveret, so the screen wasn't visible. He was clearly rapidly going through whatever was on the datapad. He didn't look up at the Frost at any point.

Leveret dug up a canteen of water and a pack of rations, holding it out to Efahz. "That thing must be pretty important, to be able to hold onto it while you're stumbling through the wilderness."

"Know any direction that would take me to another town-" As Bojaun spoke, the 'blood clot' on his jaw popped loose, spilling black blood all over the ground. He clenched down on it. "OW! Dammit..." blood poured over his fingers."maybe a town with repair kits and medical supplies?" he asked, Sitting against a window sill. Then he thought "...Sh!t... How are you gonna explain all the blood?" He asked, pointing all the dark spots on the ground.

Constable said nothing, watching as a black speck appeared on the horizon, slowly but surely growing larger.

Bojaun looked up at the spot that caught the  Constable's eye. "Sh!t..." he said as he walked inside one of the buildings. He did his best to keep his blood from spilling over the sands.

His response was simple as he took the canteen.

"Yeah. It is." He responded.

If I elaborate at all, they'll know I'm alive. Then I'm screwed.

He peeked inside of the canteen before taking a cautious swig. He seemed paranoid when doing pretty much anything.

It was water, probably around room temperature.

"I gotta say," Leveret commented, digging around for something for Efahz to wear, "You are probably among the top three most sketchy people I've ever run into. I'm starting to wonder if I should have let you in here."

"I could say the same about you." Efahz responded. "Some Tenno in a backwater settlement on Mars, with a ship full of salvage, and a strange curiosity about my actions."

That might have come off as a tad mean.

"No offense, though. Strange people congregate to places like this. Outside of the law, and with opportunities for profit."

"None taken. Once you get used to the weather, it's not bad." His voice echoed slightly as he searched the bottom of a container. "You ever been down to the ruins? Not the crashed ships, mind you, I mean the real ruins. Back when the only people here were martians."

"No. I haven't exactly had much time to explore. My landing wasn't exactly graceful." Efahz explained. He had placed his datapad back in a pocket. "Scavengers have probably picked over the wreckage already. And with the heavier Grineer presence in the area around Mars, I'm stuck here."
