XP and upgrading weapons

Did I miss something on a change in how XP is awarded after a mission?  Took a freshly forma'd primary into Kalazar to farm some relics.  Use Frost/Naramon/Atterax combo to complete 20 rounds.  My primary is now rank 1.  Take the exact same setup into Akkad.  Do 10 rounds and my primary is now rank 11.  Only difference is I did Kalazar solo and Akkad with randoms.  Why the big difference in rank up?

Nothing changed, it works the same it's always worked.

If you kill something with abilities, 100% of the Affinity goes to the Frame.

If you kill something with a weapon, 50% goes to that weapon and that weapon alone plus 50% goes to the Frame.

If a Squadmate kills something and you're in Affinity sharing range,
your Frame gets 25% and 75% is split evenly among your weapons.
