How do I Glaive? (PS4)

I'm an experienced player who loves melee weapons.  Recently I've been branching out into different weapon types - scythes, polearms, etc.  Some I liked, some I didn't, but they all seemed effective in their own way.  The one I just can't seem to figure out is glaives.

What really jumps out at me is that the damage relative to the weapon speed seems to be small enough that I have trouble killing enemies in low-level missions.  I'm guessing this weakness is supposed to be made up for by its ranged ability, but I find it very difficult to aim with R3 while holding in the circle button (as both of these require my thumb).  I'm wondering what I'm missing or doing wrong.

What glaive weapons would you recommend (aside from Glaive Prime), and what do you do to use them effectively?  Thanks!

Definitely Orvius, worked great with invisible frames. Kestrel might be useful with its augmented mod if you are doing affinity farms.

yes i too love the glaves but the only weakness they have is aiming. the combos are powerful even at high level enemies but when you want to throw it. it becomes impossible  to kill anything.

for starters yes follow the guy above but also you can channel the weapon during its flight and only during flight to make it explode.
