Lore talk: Kubrows and Kavats

So these are the space cats and dogs that everybody knows and loves. But what exactly are they?

In the dojo, the Orokin lab shows a kubrow in one of those vac tanks like in The Empire Strikes Back. That makes me think, are they just genetically modified dogs? Why is there a Lotus pattern? Why do different breeds come from the same egg whilst having different abilities? And the big one WHY DO THEY HATCH FROM AN EGG? Is it technically a different species than your average dog (if it's a genetically modified dog)? Are they actually dogs?

 

Kavats are a different story.

What's the deal with their tails? It's odd. How do we get the Kavat DNA codes? Why are feral kavats in the derelict? Also, can't they eat the Infestation or something, if so how?

I can't say anything about the Kavats, but I remember reading that the Kubrows were bred by the Orokin, and given that this is a sci-fi space ninja game, that probably means genetically modified dogs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

feral kubrows are pretty much are combination of the 5 breeds in one so when you take the egg an try hatching it, im guessing the most dominant breeds traits are taken an so it configures to that breed.
Maybe the orokin used PLATapus when creating them.
 

Kavats where created as way of holding back an maintaining infestation but like the kubrows years of being left alone caused them to take more streamline form for there needs.
Kavats appear to be lizard cats so variety of  different tails are open to them.
We scan them an try to get a fraction of there gentic code an that not easy, thus why you cant just scan 1 kavat an beable to make one off that. Or would just be a clone of the one you scaned.
