Defense missions with elevator

So been doing a few defense missions  for resources and every time someone starts the mission and your loading in, you spawn below the elevator where you press the button for the elevator and it does nothing so your stuck on the bottom floor unable to do anything but forced to abort the mission   This happened on ceres defense missions

I could be wrong here. But just jump into the elevator hole. It should stick you up the top.

If there is no elevator door, you should be able to do that.
