more ppl should power up the enemies

This will make people like to go Solo more.

How would this be in the interest of the developer of a multiplayer game?

Also, added players would spawn more/harder mobs, and drop better loot. People would go out of their way in Diablo I/II and Torchlight and Borderlands to sometimes even artificially set the player number to the maximum, so they get more of a challenge and better drops. The interest to go solo is minuscule with such a system in place.

In general, I agree on the challenge amplification, though.

The option is there, so it's something that should be balanced/considered. Plenty of people will enjoy solo runs as much as co-op, and as there will be times that co-op just isn't possible in certain places due to low population of that area or the timezone etc... I'm pretty sure DE know the vlaue of Solo and will be making sure it's balanced and fun.
