Only getting one sentient core even after collecting more on the plains

I killed  Vomvalysts and collected about 5-6 sentient cores. and while on the plains collecting it showed 5-6  cores but when I came back to CEtus on the mission summery screen it showed only 1 sentient core. so I checked my inventory and the core number had increased by only one instead of 5-6. this keeps happening no matter how many core I  collect at the end of the mission I am getting only one.
