MANY WHELPS, HANDLE IT!

Sorry, but that is the only thing I think about when someone says "whelp" instead of "well".

On the topic, what do you expect from a credit sink? To be a beneficial feature? Gamble at your own risk.

It really needs to work something like this:

1 Common Mod = 1 Point

1 Uncommon Mod = 2 Points

1 Rare Mod = 3 Points

If you Transmute...

1-4 Points = Common Mod will result

5 Points = 25% Chance the result is Uncommon

6 Points = 50% Chance the result is Uncommon

7 Points = 75% Chance the result is Uncommon

8 Points = 100% Chance the result is Uncommon

9 Points = 75% Chance the result is Uncommon; 25% chance the result is Rare

10 Points = 50% Chance the result is Uncommon; 50% chance the result is Rare

11 Points = 25% Chance the result is Uncommon; 75% chance the result is Rare

12 Points = 100% Chance the result is Rare.

And you could use a similar system for mod type and polarity too. For example, if I wanted a Focus, my best bet would be to take 4 Warframe Vs (preferrably rares) and transmute them and hope it gives me Focus instead of Rage or Continuity.

That way, you have some actual way to influence the result.

Right now, though, dumping rares in and getting Commons out is just broken. You're better off using them for fusion.

4 (rare) Streamlines gave me 1 (uncommon) smite grineer

Have you even transmuted before? Or was that just an uneducated guess?

That's because you used 4 rares of the exact same mod. For some reason, using 4 rares of the exact same card gives you a common or uncommon. 4 commons or uncommons of the same mod give the appropriate level of rarity.

And yes, I've transmuted before. Finally got Surefooted and Retribution thru transmuting.

If I was you I would never walk into a casino then :)

Edit:  Just thought about the idea of being able to transmute resources instead.

Well I do not know why you would use 3 rares and then throw a monkey wrench in with a common...  Then again no one really knows the formula/system that is being used but I would bet you have better chance with 4 rares.  Also, as much as I hate hearing it, rng is rng.

Its no better using 4 rares, just wastes a few extra credits; 4 rares can still reward a common.

Honestly, it's not that terrible. We just need minimum value (floor) on the random.

For example, if I transmute four "V" type polarity mods...I want a "V" type back. If I transmute four rare mods, I want a rare one back.

In a nutshell, if I combine 4 different kinds of chocolate then I should end up with chocolate...not cotton candy bubble gum.

Transmutation = gambling.  Don't spend what you can't afford to lose.

Heh.

This is worse than gambling.

Gambling is when you throw a small amount of money in the pot for a chance at a huge payout, except you have a ridiculously small chance of winning, in many forms of gambling. Buy a $1 lottery ticket, and hope you hit all the numbers and get $1 million.

Or, go to a Casino, drop $1 into the slot machine, and hope to get $1,000 back.

Every now and then that lottery ticket or spin on the slot might give you $2 or $5 but usually gives you nothing.

You don't, however, go to the Casino with $5000 and drop it all on the table in one gamble and walk away with a candy bar. Heck, even a $20 lottery ticket guarantees you at least $5 in winnings in PA. That's right -- EVERY SINGLE $20 ticket is at least a $5 winner. That's a 1:4 ratio that you are *guaranteed* to get in return.

A Common Mod is worth nowhere near 25% of 4 Rares. Not even Close.
