  1. Wow, this thread has become more partisan and entrenched then ever. Let's use a fun analogy!

ThegreatZamboni!: I have an idea that's gonna make baseball fun again!

Player type A: wow great ideas! The league should hire you!

Player type B: ok, there's some neat things here, and that would make keeping up with stats easier, but how's it going to work, and how long is the season going to be delayed if this were adopted?

TGZamboni!: you don't get it, read it again.

Player type B: well, alright. What about this idea here? What if we consider a change to...

Player type C: Down with The League, they are armchair noobs without skills. Total minor leagues.

TGZamboni!: Yes, I've made allowances for that, reread my post, total change is the only way.

Player type B: But this is a throwback to the 50's era system with a grab bag of hockey and football. I don't see how that wou..

Player type C: Aw man I love football. I Wish this was more like football. Then it would be awesome!

Player type B: dude, shut it about the football, talking baseball here.

And on, and on. We are starting to talk around each other, folks, not to each other.

Let's get back to talking about the ideas in the Op, and how to make the changes that are needed.

My fundamental objection to the idea of a radical overhaul is that it would necessitate a return to closed beta, would in turn generate its own completely new series of bugs, balance issues, and player complaints and that the skill tree concept you propose has already been tried and abandoned. To take so big a step back would be disruptive, unless a way could be found to integrate the changes in a non disruptive manner.

I would like to talk about how that might be overcome. I'm not saying "woah that's a lot of work" to say that the op can't or shouldn't be done, but that the next step is to talk about how it could be done. For another analogy, if you said you want to remodel your house, and your friend says well let's start with the kitchen first, they aren't actually saying don't do the whole house, they are looking at the project in a smaller scale. Jumping back on topic, that's a bit harder here with the mods must go mentality, since that removes the in place system, but we can talk about methods of getting from here to there, right?

Something I would like to see you post on:

How will your vision of skill trees would free build choice and not be just like skill trees in the old republic or borderlands.

In what way do you envision the system functioning? Let's say for examples sake we have a Loki that we want to use for stealthy missions. How would his set up differ under your system? What greater freedoms would the player have in making his build? How free is the player to tear down that build and redo it for a new purpose? Will the player be able to specialize in say, invisibility, to the point of ignoring radial disarm entirely, and making his invisibility more powerful than the current system allows? Will utility skills be specific for each frame, with Rhino having a heavy impact option and Loki the ever sought after intruder? Will De roll out updates to the skill trees over time, as the game changes and new features come online?

Something we should all keep in mind.

We are all players, we all want to enjoy this game, and see it grow. We are all on the same side, and want the same thing here. This thread's purpose is to posit a way to get there, and to have a dialogue on it. Bashing each other is distracting and gets us no where.

Now, I'm going to to go back and reread the op in full.

  2. hello, as we talk about valkyr, i got a question, the boss of jupiter was golem and he provided the part for volt, y just needed one more part which is the volt's system, but when valkyr was release the boss from jupiter was replaced for Alad V and the warframe part as well for valkyr... where could i get the last part for my warframe volt

The dev's had a post mentioning that J3 golem would be leading infested invasions for awhile, so I think you should look for infested invasion types. I'm not sure if that is actually implemented yet. With the holiday and shopping insanity, I haven't gotten around to looking for invasion missions yet.

  3. MJ12 and the OP basically agree on the actual issue, from everything I've read here, and differ only in degree and manner of response. What I haven't seen is the OP explaining why the massive rebuild is more correct than small line item adjustments and system reworks on small scales. The big elephant in the room of the op concept is how would the dev's implement such a massive rebuild, and in fact a change in direction from current efforts. Yes, you could claim that's De's problem, but with such an exhaustive effort on his proposal, you would expect at least some time to have been spent on the practical application of how would it be done. It is the lynch pin of any proposal. And It's flat missing here.

    Which leads me to the second thing. Did the op actually want community feedback? As far as I can tell, his/her response to critical feedback is to say we didn't understand or read the concept. Dispite the fact that we are all functionally in agreement on what the issues at hand are;

The mods system as is requires a large degree of uniformity to make frames function as mission level rises- Players would like to build unique and expressive loadouts but cannot do so due to loss of functionality.

With procedural mission generation, actual mission content itself is not a guaranteed sell for return play, which leads to the emphasis on mod collection. This creates a Pokemon effect of playing for a completion rate and a finite end of gameplay, which in an online squad game is not the desired goal.

Melee system is currently a lack luster feature in high level gameplay to many players.

But every thought posted that is not in lock step with the op is dismissed. As if he/she has no interest in dissenting opinions. This is not an exchange of ideas if that's the case. It's just ego stroking.

  4. In general. In damage 2.0

Slash is most effective on infested

    Puncture works best on Grineer

    Impact works best on Corpus.

Each element also conveys either some bonus damage to certain targets or some bonus and some malus. The dev's released a chart to help people make builds.

As for the issue of rushing over leveled players, may I suggest posting in the forums your gear range and searching for like minded players that way? Pick up groups are rarely what you most wanted them to be in any game, this one more than most. But having a good teammate takes this game to a new level of hell yeah fun.

  5. Ive spent most of my time either in solo or two manning it with a friend. so far everything has been doable, and with someone you know, you can play at the pace you prefer without being forced to rush around like four man pick ups seem to go.

Question for the OP. Do you solo by choice or because you haven't found players you enjoy teaming with?

  6. I do feel like MC's main argument is in his lore, while the Tenno have the gameplay advantage. Cute lynx. zanuka is a bit hard to gauge on size. It might be as big as a human, and is likely more massive, but the thing won't hold still long enough for me.

Sideline question, mass effect's Shepard vs MC, vs Tenno?

  7. One of the best small idea's for improvement I've seen here was the idea to take the frame skills and seperate them from the customization block of mod slots. Though I'd like to build a fun parry and melee build, at the expense of skills and high performance mods it's hardly feasible. For easy of discussion, it should be spun off into its own thread though.

I would Absolutely love to see more gameplay elements that encourage team play and co operation. While I don't have a problem with rushers doing their thing, I do not enjoy playing it their way, so will often solo when my clan mate isn't able to play when I can. I think a further elaboration of the stealth mechanic and missions based around stealth might be a good way to encourage group efforts, or perhaps missions with complex objectives requiring teamwork and timing to achieve. But since I started, each new mission type has trended toward more complexity.

I would also like to see more lore and story content roll out, but it seems like I may be in the minority on that, and I can wait.

  8. I do think, for the sake of further argument: peeps should decide who would win based on an equal footing assumption. If it's a squad of Tenno, it should be a squad of Spartans.

And, as a fun spin off, what about Isaac Clarke from dead space? Vs MC? Vs Tenno?

  9. The Tenno are mute idea is somewhat flawed; Valkyr screams/shouts/yells.

And the Tenno in that video could be using an internal suit network to communicate. I think it's less that Tenno can't talk, and more that they mostly don't. Since they are a "ninjas in space" order of warriors, it could simply be part of their combat training to work together without talking. how many of us in game stop to chat? Are we mute?
