  1. The history of major Warframe Updates could also be seen as a history of players being angered over unfair, RNG-based item acquisitions

Tl;dr: Add harder challenges with less RNG/heavily increased rewards for players who are up for it to create an incentive to get better and allow for a wider range of engaging content for all reward types.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fortuna had its issues with hiding rare mods behind repetitive bounties. Remember the grind and RNG-juggling required to acquire stuff on the Plains of Eidolon? Maybe you remember how hard it was to get archwing weapon parts back when archwing was introduced, running hours and hours of Caelus, Uranus space interception without avail. Or you're an old fossil like me and remember how people were furious about the low drop chance of the Latron Prime receiver.

So far, almost every Update Warframe got over the years had one or several major problems with locking items behind tedious RNG. And here we are again, complaining about Liches and how it's a glorified weapon grind with no reward other than a duplicate gun after approximately 10 Liches, all requiring hours and hours of mindless grind of missions we already did just with higher level enemies.

Now, to start this off, I'm not completely against RNG, a healthy amount of it can increase the enjoyment of the game. However, and that is what bugs me, Warframe almost exclusively rewards luck instead of effort by forcing everyone into the same difficulty. This has already been addressed in some areas of the game. You can fight hard enemies on the plains and Fortuna (Thumpers and Orbs) now to get resources you'd have to grind by fishing and mining otherwise. Faction mods and arcanes can be bought for standing which is not tied to RNG. Yet, when Liches came out DE funneled all players, no matter which gear level or playtime or experience or skill into the same tunnel of Lich-grind. How long have the Plains been out until Thumpers were introduced? Will it take the same amount of time before DE gives us a way of fighting harder Larvlings or kill some special Boss so we can dictate which weapon our Lich spawns with? See, less well-geared players or those reluctant to fight can still fish and mine, they can get their daily standing and resources somehow and that's perfectly fine, but the Thumpers really gave players a way to acquire stuff by playing the core-content of hte game: Combat.

Now, look at the Grendel Missions for example: While I'm not a fan of a game stripping my gear off me - because I grinded for it to use it, not to get it taken away - they simply gave you the part as soon as you finished the challenge. Challenging for some, but at least you knew what you would get, you didn't even need mods, just the knowledge of how to play your frame well.

Effort in Warframe equals the time you invest to repeat a loot-roll, not the fact that you actually face a challenge. You could fight 500 Liches and not get your Brakk. Why is there no way for players to acquire something faster than others by fighting harder enemies? A Lith relic survival starts at what? Level 10? There should be a way for better geared players to start out at level 100 and crack two or three relics at once, even a mastery 7 player with only 4 mods on his frame and weapons can kill level 10 enemies without effort.

Why can't someone who is up for the challenge seek out his lich on a level 300 node and beat the Requiem combination out of it? Right now less well geared players complain about Liches being way too hard, some are afraid to level them up, while people who figued out how to play effectively with a build they like can beat a lich in less than five seconds? It would be a lot better if everyone could take a challenge suited for his current skill level. It's fine if you difficulty-lock certain content, not every new player should be able to access everything off the bat, Warframe has a lot of things to play until you're better geared. But there needs to be more of a reason to keep one going. A player who barely started hunting Liches sees that if he get's stronger, he will be able to hunt future Liches down faster, that's a motivation. Seeing a fully geared mastery 27 guy with all but a few weapons, most of them forma'd, in a lith capture, casually pulverizing enemies by just looking in their direction, complaining about how he already did 55 relics today really makes me wonder why we don't have something like a difficulty setting on certain and mission types. How about an unstable void fissure for each relic type? Enemy level starts out at 50-150 and scales faster but you're allowed to bring 3 relics and get 3 rewards each round. Maybe make it even harder, Challenge has to be proportional to its reward.

What they did with Eidolons is also a good example. Taking on the big bois would greatly increase your chances for a rare arcane. Team communication and good gear is required, but newer players can still get their Quills Standing to a max by hunting the basic Teralyst.

I think that Warframe would profit a lot from more options on how to tackle the grind and by adding challenge that allows you to tip the RNG more into your favor or even having a 100% chance of rewarding you the item you were looking for. These challenges should be inroduced right when something is released and not 6 months later when everyone has already grown tired of the excessive grind.

    Thanks for reading.

High level enemies still require you to use your weapons for efficient clearspeed. Ember was and still is a trash mob killer which did not change after the update. Actually I think she is worse at her role now than she was before because the armor reduction has a cooldown, overall ability dps is lower and has more limitations (los).

On anything else Gara is at least as efficient and outclasses her in a lot of other mission types like excavasion, defense, etc.

Ability DPS has a stacking AoE that melts enemies at 3 energy per enemy with eficiency, you need only to push 3 to apply a fire proc which already strips 50% of enemy armor on a 25 meters range at base. Gara outclasses ember in defense/excav only to a certain point until frost becomes the king of the hill again because Snowglobe is instant cast, has protection from all sides and stacks up to 1m HP and can be cast on 4 spots at the same time. Ember is a mobile firestorm, saying that she is a worse adclear shows that you don't play her much. I can go hunt my level 5 lich with Ember. She rains energy on the whole squad with the augment and also offers a solid team buff viability. Ember has her weaknesses and strengths that are strongly defined, Gara has less critical weaknesses but also does not really excel anywhere, they are very different frames and comparing them on a purely numerical basis does not do either of both justice.

  3. This way you'd let players choose between pest and cholera. Either you waste your precious lifetime grinding that lich with a duplicate weapon or you pay your precious kuva to not have to grind. The Kuva prices would need to be very high (20-100k?) to make it worth the effort for anyone to accept it. I'd rather have DE refine the system further so that EFFORT is rewarded over luck.

The RNG on lich weapons is flawed, it has nothing going for it, DE doesn't profit, neither do we players.

  4. Gara is by numbers overpowered but way slower than ember. I haven't touched gara much because even if her potential damage is high her usability on any mission that requires you to mov around is limited. You can't set a whole room of level 130 grineer on fire as fast as you can with ember, and one nullifier and your whole stacked millions of damage gow down the sink with gara. The casting times on the refreshing of her splinter storm are also tedious and take time. Gara is very good in some niche situations, but for the majority of the gameplay, which is breezing through missions, Ember really does it.

I think your comparison lacks practical application and gameplay experience.

I don't recall my warframe overpowering Stalker being impaled with War. Did you play some special version of the quest?

Frame is impaled by War and still manages to break it, thus breaking Stalkers Link to Hunhow. getting a kneebash on the back isn't half as bad as getting a sentient weapon rammed through you in my book. But anyway, Gameplay > Lore. Instant kills you can't counter suck in every game from Pen&Paper to modern vidyas.

Just because there's some ability-immune enemies doesn't mean abilities are useless.

This, the problem is the fact that we are being spammed with ability immune enemies. Instead of making them reduce the effectiveness of an ability on themselves DE went a way of making ability frames simply useless by making enemies able to ignore them. There was a time when CC abilities were the epitome of effectiveness and no longer runs could be done without them. But recent weapon buffs and a heavy reliance on nuke/room clear skills together with ridiculous damage resistance and self/team-buffs has made this obsolete. The best frames are now those with high survivability and ways to buff themselves.

  7. Some bad way to show players they have the wrong combo. Even lore wise a kuva lich couldn't be strong enough to kill certain frames. Half of the things in WFs lore don't even work out, better to see this as a purely gameplay reason. A Warframe can overpower stalker after being impaled with a greatsword, no way some whacko with robotic limbs could take us down that easily.

  8. You gradually increased and then plummeted kuva lich enjoyability over the last two days. The kuva drops were awesome, if a little high. I suggest giving thralls a chance to drop 100 kuva or a mod that scales with lich level, and a method we can raise the lich level above 5. We also desperately need other rewards than a gun which we mostly will already own after 10 tries.

You also ruined the coop aspect. Removing murmur progress for other people facing their lich was pretty harsh. One of the big problems is also the rage meter, we could really use a way to increase it faster or get a 100% spawn. The amount of RNG in this update is hurting your players, think about adding a way to dictate which weapon the lich spawns with, too, please.

  9. Grendel feels extremely sluggish even with the very recently added improved damage scaling and radial damage on puke. I think the frame would tie in a lot more into the fast gameplay if his 1 was a one-handed action. The casting time is so slow that my teammates will have cleared a room while I'm still eating only to be able to actually use my other abilities. He also should have a higher minimum of enemies he can hold without consuming energy and energy cost for holding should be slightly lowered, even with positive duration and eficiency you'll use energy rather quickly.

So far I have found him underwhelming in fast, mobile missions and defensive missions. He has quite some survivabiliy but as good as no tactical use. Simply shooting and slashing enemies has turned out far more effective in level 100+ gameplay and the fact that his buff is random adds insult to injury. Why not make it a rotation ability like Vauban's Minelayer?

Edit: Completely forgot about his 4, it's just the worst a 4th ability could be. It makes you even slower, it's clunky, it needs live enemies work, it deals no comparable damage, it feels like a joke someone made was turned into an ability. There could have been so much cool stuff like vortexing in all enemies to grendel where they gradually get eaten or turning eaten enemies into a CC/AOE. I can't see myself ever using this skill until it get's a heavy buff.

  10. I disagree on the difficulty and enemy level parts, they should even gve us options to scale it up to level 200 or more to gain greater rewards, it's supposed to be endgame content, so please don't complain about enemies barely above sortie level, they're a joke to handle. Now that Kuva Liches are opt-out there's no reason to complain for getting your head bashed in, you know what you signed up for.

Rewards, that's problem numero uno: We get nothing apart from the gun or ally. We should get either an interest (maybe multiply resources and creds with lich level) on the stolen resources from the lich or gallons of kuva extra, right now, and you got that very right, Liches are a glorified effort of RNG layered weapon grind.

People who want others to kill their Lich aren't selfish, they just don't want your lich to block their possible lich spawns, you're selfish because you entered a mission knowing you might reduce other people's chances to fight their lich if you don't clear it. Again, if you're not ready for it, don't sign up for it, you get all stuff back after killing your lich anyway, would you miss 20k credits?. I hope DE finds a solution to this soon, though, it's pretty broken, they really borked the coop aspect in a coop-game, which has me concerned.

That is what I understood as well from the notes. Would be something to sacrifice a weapon to increase the other ones stats by a arbitrary amount. For now still annoying to get the same weapon, multiple times with lower stats. Thankfully my 5th lich finally has a new weapon.

Keep your head up, I had around 8 duplicates so far

  12. Il y a 6 heures, Midas a dit :

keep the extra weapons, soon you can combine them to get perfect stats.

You can't combine them, you can take the stats of one weapon and overwrite the other (that's how I understand the "pass on" part), weapon type RNG is still harming the experience a lot. If you have a fire karak a karak with 50% and get one with 45% it's still worthless and wastes player time.

  13. à l’instant, (PS4)Ozymandias-13- a dit :

...You could just have free forma thrown at you by cracking relics.

They're common drops from many relics, so you'll literally be able to get more than you could use without spending a single platinum.

Even when crafting forma you would need 65 days (probably longer because you won't always start one forma the second or hour the next one is finished) for the kuva weapon forma ALONE. Then you need them to craft pexilus mods, exilus mods, clan weapons etc. It was easy to get them back when you could get built forma with void keys, times have changed since then and forma acquisition has become much harder.

  14. Yeah, it's pretty cheeky by DE. I mean most of the kuva guns are genuinely good, but it might not have been the brightest idea to multiplay the paracesis concept when people were complaining even back then. Having to forma a weapon you don't like 5 times for mastery is a bit too much. That's around 50 plat on forma only for a weapon. There could have been other ways.

  15. à l’instant, Vit0Corleone a dit :

We don't get more thralls, they just seem to spawn faster and near the Lich.

Could be wrong thou, but that's what it feels.

Even then, I stopped grinding liches 2 days ago at 11 kills, going for brute-forcing the combo is swift as hell, especially since lich rage does not decrease once its on level 5 and it nearly spawns 100% every mission.
