Now, I'm not saying we should have The Thing-like body horror, with people splitting in half and growing teeth from their bisected heads  -snip-

This would be amazing though. Imagine Grineer butchers running at you but then opening up Nidus-style as they get close.

I certainly agree that design-wise the Infested aren’t that intimidating. Right now the Sentients are spookier then the actual “spooky scary space-zombie” faction. On one hand, you got Crayola-colored mewling lumps of flesh(?) that just hobble and then beat at you with their extremities. On the other, eldritch organic machines that spew alien humming as they adapt to your weaponry and animate in unnatural ways. And that’s ignoring Amalgams, which are probably DE’s most horrific creations to date with all their twitching and shrieking mutations of standard Corpus units.

Heck, even what remains of Hunhow’s corpse (as seen and heard in the rare Uranus extraction room) is more unsettling then the entirety of the Infested faction imo. Though that might be my fear-bias towards hulking remains of leviathan-esque monstrosities talking.

Recent Infested designs (can you really call the Boiler or Brood Mother “recent” though?) have been a bit more interesting but I still maintain that the Infested faction needs another pass visually if not also mechanically. I’d love to see Grineer-themed runners and formerly-Corpus chargers at the very least though faction/tileset dependent infested appearances would be my ideal.

We could also use more Grineer infested units. Infested Ghouls and Noxes could be a real treat if done right.

What could work is what they can do to others

It always did bug me that lore-wise the infestation can spread through a single wound or bite, yet the opposing faction units in infested invasions/crossfires can regularly engage the infested in melee combat without mutating.

I agree that due to our abilities and immunity, the infested won’t ever be scary but there are definitely way of making them creepier then they are at the moment. Their sound design especially, as their whooping and meowing doesn’t quite do it for me, but a bit more body horror is always welcome imo.

again, farm Stalker for the smoking body ephemera. You are asking for something that already exists.

    Already exists? Hmm.

    Smoking Body Ephemera offers:

    • Wispy smoke effect. Can be seen when moving.

    Spore Ephemera offers:

    • Wispy black distortion particle effect. Can be seen while moving.
    • Swirling light dot particle effect. Can be seen while moving.
    • Flowing energy outline effect on Warframe. Can be seen while moving.
    • Ominous under-glow/goo effect below the Warframe’s feet. Can be seen while moving.
    • Lightning/stream effect striking the ground at various angles. Can’t be see while moving.
    • Growing infested spore effect that spawns at the Warframe’s feet and fades away quickly. Can’t be seen while moving.

If Smoking Body offered even a third of the visual fx that Spore does then I’d agree that those looking for a “spore-less” ephemera replacement should seek it out instead. But that is obviously not the case, and if we take the “spore effects” out of the equation then the two ephemeras still achieve distinctly different appearances.

And like I said, I’m not exactly in favor of removing the spores from the Spore Ephemera. I just feel the current implementation is jarring and ugly. Using Smoking Body instead does nothing to address my concerns.

I think you are looking for the smoking body ephemera from Stalker. Why would anyone want to disable the most interesting part of this one?

Because (imo) they aren’t good looking in the slightest. Low-poly static models that just grow and fade away in an off-putting manner.

Though rather then disabling them, I’d love for them to be made more appealing visually instead.

  4. Pretty sure DE is aware of the issue, as even Pablo himself has expressed on Twitter that he is unhappy with how the rework ended up. With new frames, reworks, a new story quest and a new gameplay expansion on their plate, who can say when or even if they will ever address it?

Weeeellllll....umm err when she takes a fire proc she coverts that damage to energy.... Bit weird Frost, Saryn and Mag can't so something similar. But hey this is Warframe after all.

I’d certainly take a similar passive over the current “enemies meleeing you have a chance to freeze” for Frost. Though I guess the lack of easily accessible cold procs might be an issue.

Why do we need a faction with insane ragdoll animations when we have a hammer and a Shield Lancer?

I dunno, considering that I never said we actually do need one I’m unsure why this question is addressed to me. Unless you meant to ask the OP that and misquoted.

The Shield Lancer thing is an obvious glitch as opposed to a feature though.

The Zariman wasn't a military ship.

The only time it was ever referred to as such was the Ember Prime entry, which had this quote:

There's two ways that can be interpreted: "We didn't put children on board this ship" or "There were children aboard because it wasn't a military ship."

I mean sure, if you take the old (military?) woman at her word then I’d say those interpretations are accurate.

I think it’s certainly possible that the Zariman was a military vessel, and that children being on board wasn't disclosed to the public before the experiment hence Kaleen’s question.

I stand by the fact that Paracesis makes more sense as a 2H nikana, given it's single edged and competing with a very full category (against Gram Prime, Galatine Prime and War, amongst others).

I agree that the heavy blade class is looking a bit stacked, one of the reasons why I’m also against DE’s proposed scythe changes (make scythes bigger and turn them into heavy blades). Personally I’m hoping that if they do change Paracesis’s weapon class that we also at least get access to that scabbard it has. I feel it looks pretty neat when sheathed.

Nah mate, who has the time? Look it up yourself if you care. Devstream 100-150 somewhere.

Decided to humor you and look into it (burden of proof is generally on the person making the claim, but I was curious so why not?). It seems that Paracesis was shown twice before its release:

    • Part of Ballas’s concept art at the Tennocon 2017 Art Panel. Described as a “ceremonial weapon” but not elaborated upon.
    • 3D work in progress model spread shown on Devstream #105. Geoff states that it’s an upcoming quest weapon, and that Ballas can use it with one hand but Warframes will need both hands to weld it.

Neither of these showings mention nikanas or katanas in any way, so I think it’s fair to say that the claim that Paracesis was supposed to be a two-handed nikana is misinformation.

  10. Spears. I want actual spears.

Not a trident, glaive, or polearm. Not a crooked or infested-looking Zaw approximation. Not a "spear" gun or fishing tool. I want a melee spear weapon that I can use to get my stab on with as I impale Grineer blokes through their squishiest areas.

    One of these bad boys:

Like it boggles my mind that we have swords, axes, nunchucks, hammers, war fans, gunblades, two different types of katana even. But no spears, despite their historical usage and significance.

And don't get me started on Twirling Spire. What a yawn-inducing moveset, with its anemic stab-twirls and awkward handling. Give me something based on whatever the Tonbo does with no stance on, but like up to eleven in badass-factor. If we can have two types of giant swords, we can have a separate spear class/stance.

  11. The auto-block and fast-switch additions have resulted in me actively using the block feature more then I’ve probably ever used it before the update. If I see a heat wave or heavy slam, I can just hit the melee key and instantly be in position to block the attack. Previously I would have to already have my melee equipped to have a chance at reacting to block, since the gun-bolstering and melee unsheathing animations would forcibly delay my actions.
