how does 2 RIFLES turn into PISTOLS?.

    They don’t though.

    But they use pistol ammo!”

The Grakata is a Grineer SMG. You’ve never heard of an SMG chambered for pistol caliber rounds?

But they’re in the secondary slot!

There’s a reason the “secondary” section isn’t called the “pistol” section. Secondaries are just as the name implies, a backup/alternative to the primary weapon of your arsenal. Just because a weapon is in that section doesn’t automatically make it a pistol.

If I had to guess the reason why Twin Grakatas aren’t in the primary section, it’s probably because the code/animations for dual-wielding guns is linked to secondaries somehow. Spaghetti code happens, and putting Twin Grakatas in the secondary section was probably preferable to accidentally breaking something with primaries.

  2. As the title states, the Frost Ion Tennogen helmet seems to have an issue with its emissives. For whatever reason, bloom effects are almost nonexistent on it compared to other skins. Changing emissive color to white and turning bloom up makes this more noticeable.

  3. Zenurik is the school with Energizing Dash, and it happens to have some other nice skills like Temporal Blast for CC and Lightning Dash for decent-ish damage and electric procs.

Vazarin’s Protective Dash has the ability to temporary make targets invincible while healing them for 60% of their HP over 5 seconds. It’s an extremely useful ability that lets people easily solo missions with frames that ordinarily would be unable to defend the target.

Once you max out your current school, it can’t hurt to move on to other trees as their waybounds will help your operator become stronger regardless.

Was into the Harka skin until we got to see it from the side. Just can't unsee frost with a fake beard on now.

Yup, from a distance it looks pretty neat imo but then when you look at it closer from various angles it falls apart. Was hoping it would fit together a bit better but I probably should have seen it coming considering how other Frost helmets work on the Harka skin.

The helmet is the part of the skin that interests me the most so I’m planning on playing around with some mixing and matching for a bit before coming to a decision on whether I just wasted some Steam bucks.

Any way to copy color schemes onto skins?  I’d love to see the ion skin with the classic blue white and gold.

You can favorite colors with right click, and then just place them onto the skin from the favorite color palette tab. Though if you’re talking about Frost’s default colors then you’d have to find approximations of them first I imagine, or just grab them from the Tenno pallete.

EDIT: I was actually curious about this too to be honest, so I tried out some color combos.

Here’s an Imgur album of my attempts at working with the colors on the Ion skin. Some of the colors are definitely taking in odd ways.

  6. Threw together a quick Imgur album of some simple fashion tests. The skin definitely has a unique aesthetic but the texturing is rather muddy in places and the materials are plastic-like. Luckily that means it goes great with Sentient weapon and cosmetics, but it’d a shame that it has no metallic color channels.

The helmet is pretty neat in that it’s the most humanoid one in Frost’s arsenal at the moment, but the odd materials and color channel placement makes it harder to mix and match it with other skins.

  7. Pretty much as the title states, I’d like the ability to forcefully ragdoll enemies upon a kill at close range to be added to our arsenal of secondary shotgun weapons

One of my favorite features of the primary shotgun weapons is that they often send the corpse flying a few feet away upon a close to mid range kill. It adds a nice “punch” to using the guns that helps differentiate them from their rifle contemporaries (Quartakk aside). I’m confident that adding such a feature would greatly contribute to the feel and satisfaction of killing enemies with weapons like the Brakk, Detron, Bronco, and Pyrana among others, as it did for primary shotguns when the feature was added in Update 17.

Why didn't they remove old weapons like tonkor?

In a way, they already have if you want to get technical about it. Tonkor received several nerfs and changes over the course of its usage, and now players who liked how it originally played can never use it like they did before. The original Tonkor does not exist in the game anymore, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

  9. I’ve been toying with a few passive suggestions myself, mainly in regards to Frost for obvious reasons. Note these are intentionally vague since I’m sure numbers would need adjusting regardless.

    • Damage or crit boost against frozen enemies.
    • Ability buffs when casting inside Snow Globe.
    • Ember-like passive that gives Frost buffs when cold-proc’d.
    • Shield, hp, or energy regen depending on amount of currently frozen enemies.

Hydroid and Rhino’s passives honestly make me sad though.

Compared to other snipers: The Komorex is getting stronger the longer you use it, if compared to other snipers in a Eidolon hunt for example the Komo quite literally stands no chances, hunting down the Terralyst turned out to be a very slow and frustrating experience between the low damage and the constant need to resupply ammo with consumables.  It has a descent damage spread but it relies too much on status to be effective and anything immune to status effect will weather this weapon with ease, its is sadly a terrible options for Eidolons and bosses immune to status.

Pretty sure this sniper isn’t meant for Eidolon hunts, and imo that’s perfectly fine. I’m actually not sure why you thought a low damage status rifle would even compare to the other snipers in Eidolon killing.

Sure there are bosses and enemies immune to status, but that’s more of an issue with DE’s enemy design and balancing. Do we really want all weapons to just be crit or crit/status hybrids? Imo status should be made more viable rather then forcing crits onto every weapon.

For example, Volt and Frost Primes can equip the default shoulder armor, but Oberon Prime cannot.

That’s odd seeing as I can’t find or equip the default Frost shoulder armor on my Frost Prime, no matter what skin I’m using. It only gives me the option to use the Frost Prime shoulder armor or the armor of whatever Tennogen skins I own. The regular Frost shoulder armor is nowhere to be found.

I agree with the premise of the thread regardless.

  12. First off, this wall of text would be much easier to read if you split it up into relevant sections. I appreciate the effort it took to write this but seriously a little formatting goes a long way.

Secondly, you should remove the Megathread tag. That’s for staff usage only.

Thirdly, the main issue with having smarter enemies is that our abilities nullify any formations or tactics they could use. We can easily wipe out squads without even being in the same room thanks to frames like Saryn and Volt. And even during direct combat, we have tons of frames that can prevent them from being able to even move. Good luck trying to flank or dodge when you’re frozen in a Limbo rift, or floating in Vauban’s Bastille, or even blinded by Excalibur’s Radial Blind. And that’s ignoring Mesa, who can just walk in and delete everything in the room before they can get in formation.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see better enemy tactics but unless you make them immune to our abilities and give them crazy damage reduction, most will die before even being able to use said tactics. But then everyone will complain about their frames and riven’d weapons not working, like with what happened during the Wolf of Saturn Six.

Like I used to think doing tridolon was hard but now it’s effortless with my trusty squad.

Also this aspect will always be an issue. People will get used to it and learn the strategies that cheese it most effectively, as they did with Eidolons, Wolf, and the new Disruption mode.

  13. Convectrix makes me sad honestly. The concept is great: a double-barreled Flux Rifle that uses laser beams like scissors in order to slice mooks into pieces. It looks pretty neat and has a lot of animated bits, including the ability to fold up for reloading and storage. It even sounds cool, with its deep roar upon firing and the low-pitched hum of its beams contrasting the usual high-pitched whine of Corpus laser weapons.

But man, that primary firing mode is just horrible to use. You look at a Grineer bloke and pull the trigger, but then have to waste ammo and time as the beams converge before you can inflict the full damage of the weapon (as each beam does half of the listed damage). Meanwhile your average gun has already shot the poor Lancer dead, and has moved on to putting holes in bigger and better things. Even worse, there was a brief moment after the beam weapon rework where Convectrix was actually usable and then DE cratered it by adding damage ramp up to beam weapons. So not only do you have to wait for the beams to converge, but you also have to wait for your damage to ramp up after the fact.

And don’t even get me started on that sad excuse for an alternative firing mode. Such a waste, especially with the current beam mechanics.

this is where its at atm. eyes are still TBD

That helmet is looking pretty cool! Liking how it looks kinda like a pilot helmet, what with the separated frontal visor.

Speaking of cool, (and I’m sure you’ve been asked this before so forgive me if I’m beating a dead horse) are there any plans to potentially revisit Frost Graxx and give him a custom alt-helmet ala Excalibur Graxx, or maybe even a new Graxx skin like Gnova?
