  1. (I haven't seen anything yet announcement-wise, and I can't access the feature. Did anyone get selected or has done the process of merging yet?) Update it has been Delayed
  2. At this point it's just speculation and a bit of panic, we don't know exactly what DE might do with this system, and as you've said before there might be some good having a discussion may come out of it, so I'm not against waiting, and talking about it. However, I feel unless I add my voice to the many who do not want features like these to be added, and feel a similar "line" has been crossed they will implement this feature in some form or another. DE have made monetary decisions in the past that I do not like, such as adding a 120p Necramech Skin in the market, a 40p Proto Skin (in the Entrati syndicate), and a Prime Accessory skin all before adding another Necramech (which I think the Bruntstar skin was supposed to be).
  3. So far I want to thank you for being civil, responding to my arguments, and criticizing them on the merits of their points and nothing else, in my previous comment I mostly wanted to clarify my point so that any person discussing reading these comments thereafter our conversation understands my intentions with this post (and my mannerisms). That being said, I think you bring up a good point about where one's boundaries are drawn, you, I, and many other players have several individual experiences that divide how we understand the game, and what terms we interact with the game on. Those reasons alone impact how we may perceive developer changes when they come, I for example do not like disruption missions and was one of those players who bought Gauss/Nidus when they came out. So I understand that individual can act according to their own wants and needs of the game, and set their own price point of what their willing to spend. At the same time, I think you astutely recognized that my perspective is a bit unsubstantiated, I do not have enough empirical evidence to formally back up my statement, so I accept the limitations of my argument. I do however want to raise the point that products in general tend to appeal to certain demographics of people who share very common attributes with each other (behavioral attributes). Certain games tend to attract certain types of consumers, people who play Apex Legends may have a commonality with people who play COD, but nothing in common with the people who play Dead by Daylight. Developers are aware of that and tailor their games to the players that appeal to them. You may not need to think The Second Dream or The War Within are the pinnacle of story writing, and in retrospect, they're pretty average, but it's the timing of those quests that gives them meaning after 50+ hours of grinding you find a relatively exciting cinematic that ends with your gameplay dramatically opening up with the operator. From 2017 to 2019 any player or reviewer would recommend Warframe just for the Second Dream Alone, it is what defined the game, it gave you more context to playing the game than just Shooting and Grinding. The reason we got The War Within, The Sacrifice, and The New War was because a majority of the player base at that time wanted more stories in Warframe. DE at least to me trying to appeal to an audience that doesn't want to at least bear with the first 50+ minimum hours of the fine-tailored parts of the game dont seem like players that want to play what that made Warframe unique, just a version of Warframe thats like other games.
  4. I do agree that members on the forums do tend to get extreme in their position about a specific change, and considering the nature of my post I have quite opened up myself, and mostly my message up to criticism to that degree. So I accept that, but the message itself if you remove all the jokes, and wit is about my concern of even entertaining the possibility that "Pay-to-Skip" Quests will have a positive impact on the game. There is nothing wrong with the developers seeking ways to increase their growth in terms of players, and profit margin, but when it comes in the form of removing more player benchmarks/progression, catering to players that aren't invested long-term (further), trailblazing for even more egregious monetization methods, and what's essentially killing a sacred cow (players not wanting to do the cinematic quests) it signifies a disconnect and a change of philosophy. Although most of the proposed ideas on my list were written with exacerbation, I implore you to reread that list, and then in your mind see what adjustments, what workshopping would need to be done to make those features more "acceptable" and considered to be"fairly" implemented. You might find that one or more extreme or impossible, and others more possible.
  5. It's not what they gain, but what they leave behind, DE is a company, companies look for growth, when find that they can get a number of people who are willing to pay for the end-game they will implement features tailored to them. Players who don't want to invest their time getting to the end-game, and will pay their way to get there will likely look for other games that do the same thing, meaning they aren't committed to the game or its community. When those players eventually leave, those systems designed for those "high value" but "short term" players will stay, in lieu of features designed for long term players. As for the "my time isn't valued" point of view they do have a valid point (and I happen to empathize as I am a 7+-year-old player on this game), despite that I'm perfectly fine with my effort and time being devalued. As the appeal of the game is about it being an ever-changing universe, weapons, and Warframes are supposed to be Nerfed and buffed, your knowledge is supposed to be challenged, and with every update you are supposed to be lost. However the "my time isn't valued" argument in my perspective I think has more to do with future updates rather than the past, if I can acquire a part of the end game without even having to learn something, the update didn't engage me for either points earlier.
  6. Pay to Skip isn't just about skipping the story, it's also about skipping necessary progression, there are many things you have to do before getting to the second dream, and The War Within, they act like benchmarks for players to get to and get past, achievements you might say, they also literally teach you mechanics of the operator. "Pay-to-Skip" Quests by the reason of my post to begin with also acts as a gateway into more lucrative and deceptive practices, think about it, if someone wants to Pay to skip a tutorial, doesn't that say something about the player, or the quest itself? Trying to get the player who pays for everything even to just do the tutorials for them isn't healthy for the player base.
  7. I mean yes people/players need time to contemplate and absorb decisions like those, however, these strong reactions don't come from nowhere, I agree that DE has been over the years gentle with how they handled their F2P system, however, that doesn't mean when they make an incorrect decision they aren't allowed to be criticized for said decision. The Heirloom Pack was an extremely bad value proposition to its player base, and people reacted kindly so, it was bloated and filled with items players did want, it also changed the terms of the bargain when it came to Warframe Alternative skins (even in the past with the Sentient skins they eventually added to the market for platinum). As for the subject of your friends catching up to you, that is true for the Genre of all MMO RPG, grind games, the point is for your friend to catch up to you, and for you to help them get to or near that level, that's why the Warframe Community is so well known for its friendly and helpful nature. It wouldn't have that reputation if there wasn't an incentive to help newer players through that grind.
  8. If the "Pay-to-Skip Quests" feature genuinely came from a push to make the early game more accessible, and enjoyable I think they're in the right headspace, but are going about it in a very damaging way. Warframe has for the longest time needed many QOL adjustments, and Stat Squishes, if they want to make SteelPath more accessible they could remove the requirement to complete all base star chart missions. However I'm sure the developers are smart/capable enough to make implement those features.
  9. Sure, and in certain ways, I disagree with how they've done it in the past, like Railjack for example, however, story missions are more core to the game, than just skipping to get a Warframe or weapon. At the same time while this decision to monetize Skipping the story now isn't the end of the world, it sets an extremely bad president for how other features are handled in the future.
  10. There is a wait time for helminth digestion, but I see what you're saying
  11. Pre-Disclosure: I am not criticizing/ putting the blame solely on the developers, Pablo and Rebbeca know their community well and would not make a decision like this, likely this push to monetize their game this way came from higher-ups. That being said while a lot of these potential monetization methods on the list are hyperbole, I think some of them are terrifyingly real with this new Pay-To-Skip feature in the works, but that'll be up to you to decide. That being said, let's put on our developer thinking caps and brainstorm some other ways we could monetize other redundant core features in the game. Pay to Automatically Unlock Relics | 5p base, and 2 added for every tier of refinement), this action can be performed from your relic station Pay to Autocomplete Missions on the StarChart | 20p for incomplete nodes, and 10 Platinum on complete nodes, side note we've also added a 500p bundle to instantly gain access to Steel Path Pay to Rank up Syndicates | You can now pay to rank up any syndicate to Max 25p/50p/75p/100p/125p respectively, a "Max All Syndicates" bundle has been added to the market for 625p Pay to Temporarily increase Mod Capacity/Slots | You can now pay 20p for 1 extra mod slot, and 3p per mod Point Capacity (at a made of 15 points or 45p), these buffs only last until login reset Pay to Unlock access to the Third Mission in Sorties/Archon Hunts | Pay to add temporary resistance to Warframes | You can pay 25p to be completely immune to one resistance of your type for 10 missions Pay for Extra Lives in Game | Our beloved feature of paying for Revives for Warframes is now returning with 30p per revive outside the typical Max 6 you can get in-game Pay to increase Nightwave standing | Taking a tip from Bungie each rank costs 10p to rank up Pay to Decrease Pet Cooldown timer | Akin to the Genetic Stability/Loyalty mechanic removed years ago, you can pay 15p to increase your pet stats temporarily including their cooldown timer up to 50% Pay to Unlock Hemlith Abilities | Each Ability will cost 10p to unlock, Each rank up in health will cost 25p/50p/75p/100p/125p respectively (unless you have the Max All Syndicates Bundle), a "Unlock All Hemlith Abilities" has been added to the market for 425p Pay to create a color loadout | You can now create a custom color loadout for 20p per loadout, with a max of 5 loadouts possible Pay to Heal Defense/Rescue Targets | You can now pay 30p (in-game) to fully heal a defense/rescue target Pay to Pause Multiplay Sessions | You can now pay 15p to pause a multiplayer match for 5 minutes, added a cooldown for this option Pay to Autocollect Foundry Items | Pay 75p to have 12 hours of auto-collect coverage, this timer can be extended past 12 hours to a maximum of 144 hours Pay to have the game Play for you | You can now pay 150p to have the game play your loadout for you, for 30 minutes
