DE's current approach is a never ending cycle that causes toxicity and negativity among it's community.

    Agreed.

IMHO, a LOT of toxicity is initiated by DE (among other things) when they arbitrarily nerf something without community feedback and/or discussion.  I fully understand the round-and-round argument of "it's a Free To Play game...they can do what they want....you're a baby...git gud...etc." - all of which dismissive rubbish and never address the core problems that are brought up here.

People pay for things (maybe not everyone, but some) like forma (sometimes) and put in the time to make weapons better (ALWAYS the biggest hidden cost).  The Zenistar is not the first weapon to be nerfed, but since it's debut September 2016, it has not been modified until December 2019 (afaik).  Suddenly, the nerf came HARD and WHAM - anyone who played SOLO with Ivara in stealth mode could no longer rely on using this weapon for it's disc, period.  I can't build up the combo counter sufficiently in stealth mode to make the disc last any decent amount of time without breaking stealth, rendering this play style killed.

Here's the toxic part: other than a very quick 4 sec response to a question from Steve to Rebecca on a stream (I think it was during Primetime) in December (I think), DE hasn't acknowledged ANYTHING about this nerf; no rationale or reason as to WHY (I could be mistaken, but I've watched MOST streams since the nerf, read the forums and NADA, nor can I find revision or patch notes on this, but again, I could be wrong).  If you are making a drastic change like this, why wouldn't you want to discuss this before and AFTER the change with your users in an adult and transparent manner?

As stated, I've watched most streams since this nerf and I can state that on every single stream, I have asked multiple times per stream to have the discussion OR pleaded for a STATEMENT as to why - just a simple statement for crying out loud!  I know that there are a BAZILLION people chatting and I know it's difficult to acknowledge one person, but since December there have been about 36 or so streams that I've watched.  You would think that SOMEONE FROM DE would have mentioned SOMETHING on this topic.  Between all the forum posts and stream chats, SOMEONE FROM DE should have seen this topic and addressed it.  Heck, I wrote a constructive note in Steve's survey in December - still nothing.  Again, I know I'm only one person in a sea of thousands, but look at the forums and search for Zenistar.  It doesn't take a genius to recognize a problem with this nerf, yet still NO OFFICIAL RESPONSE - RADIO SILENCE - WHY DE?

DE:  How about you create a dedicated forum that solely discusses nerfs/buffs, so that you can proactively take a pulse as to what changes could be of benefit or detriment to the community and simultaneously get near realtime feedback on these things?  You know, a place where we can ALL participate and have a say in nerfs/buffs to warframe.  I think this could prevent a lot of the toxicity coming from you before it infects the community at large.  How about a stream or part of a stream (like on the Dev stream) where you can solely discuss nerfs/buffs with a live audience and we can ALL SEE the feedback, in front of everyone?  Knowing that Rebecca likes to utilize excel spreadsheets, maybe create some charts/graphs with a list of nerfs/buffs and the community responses?  This would provide the needed clarity and transparency that is currently lacking on these types of changes, perhaps even stopping FIRES before they even start!

Understanding that Ivara Stealth and Zenistar disc play is broken and that there has been ZERO acknowledgement from DE (also suffering through some other nerfs in the past but never affecting me to this extent), I made the decision to not spend one more dollar on warframe, be it plat, fashion frame or TennoCon until DE talks about it and/or fixes it.  Also, further understanding that DE has broken my absolute favorite game play style, I can't play the way I've played and therefore I stopped playing since December 2019.  Not only have you taken a big fun factor away from me, but my time in efficiently playing most missions has been obliterated (Solo Console Player Here).

Simply put, if DE doesn't care to talk about this, I don't care about playing your game anymore.  It pains me to say that, since I haven't put this game down since 2014, playing (mostly) every single day since then.  I just can't take the time to invest in leveling and farming for things, only for DE to completely destroy my investment without even a simple explanation or justification - that's a slap in the face - I just don't trust you anymore, DE...sorry!

Toxicity or negativity and conversely, positivity always starts at the top.  Hopefully, they'll change the way they do these things.  I am not hopeful, though.

Oh, when it comes to Ivara building combos for the Zenistar there isn't really a good way to do it 😕 . This is why it hurts her the most, she's not designed to jump into melee and thrash around. I was trying out a build a while ago for the Zenistar that involved using an Arcane Ultimatum, to gain 600 armor while building a combo. Not only did it feel like I was trying to force it to work there was also some kind of bug that pulls the disc back early, I was still moving around shooting thing so wasn't afk nor did I move beyond the range that it auto retracts the disc. However Ivara isn't meant to run around meleeing stuff and this is why it hurts her the most.

I basically played the Zenistar in the same way it sounds you did, I used it to either block/support a choke while dealing with another. The basic problem is that it's extremely powerful when Ivara uses it, that and other people using other frames were using it to just sit and do nothing.

I thought they might nerf it at some point but they nerfed it from a weapon almost tailored to Ivara into something Ivara can't really use 😞 . Though to be fair I thought they'd nerf a frame that can clear level 3 sorties (whole map) with a button press before touching the Zenistar (though it did kind of need to happen).

    Oh...My...God....THANK YOU!

I really was beginning to think I was the ONLY one on the freakin' planet that played this way!  What you described is exactly how I would use Ivara and it's now basically dead.

There is, at least, some comfort to know that I'm not alone - so thanks!  :)

Yes it was a nerf. However it was a much needed nerf (though it pains me to say). Tying it to the combo counter basically killed it for me, as an Ivara main that used it via navigator to launch and stage it somewhere I was heart broken. However I was able to use it to carry me past level 400 enemies in solo defense arbs which I could literally play the shawzin in full visibility. I can only imagine what other people could come up with. The nerf was very needed.

Also it's not hard at all to get the combo counter up. Even something stupid simple like using Tempo Royale, running up to a group, and right-click melee hitting 4 enemies will get you up to 2x (20, each hit counts as 5 hits for the combo meter) from zero. The melee system before took a long time to build combos, not this one.

While I agree with most of what you said, I can't agree to this last bit.

How to you build up the melee combo counter with Ivara in stealth, without breaking stealth.  Perhaps I'm a noob; perhaps I'm ignorant.  I've tried my best to figure this out and I just can't.  IMHO, there is no way to do this.  This is MY critical point.

I primarily played Solo Ivara stealth and (previously) primarily played Zenistar max range disc.  I wasn't an AFK player; I choose this to keep the "badies" at bay while I tried to accomplish something else (objectives, killing other units, run away, etc.).  It was a great utility weapon, not a cheat weapon, at least for me.

There have been soooo many other nerfs over the years.  I'm just tired of the, "look at this new thing (update) we're making available" and simultaneously taking something away with this level of nerf (that's clearly beloved - look at the amount of forum posts there are regarding the Zenistar and it's mostly negative).  It seems as though DE uses these big updates to conveniently hide potentially negative changes to the game.  You then watch the streams and the hosts completely ignore or briefly mention the issue, never offer a justification or even a rationale and go about their business as if it doesn't matter.

I'm tired of the nerfs and HOW they are handled (more so, how they are handled).  I can't even bring myself to play this anymore.

When i throw out my zenistar it only stays out for 8.0 seconds instead of 45 seconds

As DE[Steve] would say....it's not a bug, it's a feature.  For "system balancing" and stuff.

If this isn't accurate, perhaps SOMEONE from DE could make some sort of announcement regarding the Why's and the What's about this issue?

Maybe SOMEONE of authority could clarify, Maybe? Please? Anyone? Bueller? Buuuuuueller?

Given the terms in the ToS you agree to when making the account, they are actually 100% justified in doing so.

On the surface, you are absolutely right; that is the letter of the "law".

I would submit to you this, however: is it the RIGHT thing to do?  That would be the "spirit" of the law and DE violates that spirit (and trust), every time they do something like this.

DE trusts the users not to ABUSE the system and create concepts of play to utilize, each with it's own design intent.

The Zenistar was made available for use in September 2016 and it's design intent was to launch the disc to create an AoE and provides a level of CC for 45 seconds.  One could argue the legitimacy of this, but not the design; it did what it did and that's how DE made this weapon.

For more than 3 years, this weapon has been untouched.  People created whole playing styles and methods of play based on this criteria.  Now, it is broken for people who used it with a stealthy build (Ivara).  Try to build your melee counter high enough before launching the disc WITHOUT breaking stealth.  Absolutely ridiculous, if at all possible.

ToS or not, IMHO, they SHOULD go after the abusers of anything in the game.  Cheaters hurt the community and perhaps, this is an example of what DE is trying to do.

However, there are better and more effective ways to reach that goal, without pissing off the majority of users that DO NOT abuse the game.

DE is always trying to see the forest, but when things like this occur, you burn down the trees.

I would relax in Mot with Ivara a miter, furis, and balla, and the thing I really do not understand, other than the zenistar nerf(which makes no sense) why cripple dagger play before Ivara prime gets released? Ivara with a hammer, or fist weapon, I feel so stealthy now(disgust or sarcasm you choose). Finisher damage on daggers, even with a choice riven, is why you see me with a hammer in that screen shot, on page 7.

Ughhhh....I couldn't get past the Zenistar issue and haven't (won't/can't) play further.  I had no idea DE nerfed finisher damage on daggers too.

Ok, so it may be that they don't want to have players use Ivara stealth as effectively as she has been?  Can that be right?  This would now start killing the way I level melee weapons with Ivara, too.

Sheesh...I'm starting to see why a lot of veteran streaming have been jumping ship.  Wow.  What a shame, DE.  I loved your streams, your story and your game.

Well, if this is the way things are going to be, than, DE, I'm done.

I couldn't care less about any new content, because you're demonstrating that you reserve the right to totally kill anything at your will, without a reason, just "because".  So what's the point of getting to use the newer stuff, if you can just cripple it later, for some other "game balancing" excuse?

This is just not right...I'm sorry, but that's just plain wrong.

BTW:  I know DESteve and DEReb were busy today (and most possibly, the greater majority of the DE teams).  I get that I'm only one person out of a million that were on your streams today.  I was watching the twitch and mixer streams from DE today and there were quite a few people asking for an official response/stance/declaration about the Zenistar.  Steve, in a very short few words said that "Zenistar?...we might have to look into that" (or something to that effect; I'm paraphrasing).  I don't remember what Reb said right after that, but from what I can remember, it was short and it came across as very reductive, as if it wasn't a big issue.

Allow me to be clear - To the Zenistar users (legitimate, nonAFK players): IT IS A BIG ISSUE.  If my recollection is wrong, I will offer my apologies in advance.  I will state however that SOMETHING more substantive should have been stated.  Just my opinion.

Please communicate with the community, address and identify the myriad of issues communicated to YOU in the forums and fix the Zenistar issue, one way or another.

    Just don't ignore us....please.

this is why I stopped spending money on this game

I pay for something, then they break it and it's: too bad for you

I greatly, humbly, sadly and emphatically agree with you.

I won't be spending any more money on this game until they revert these changes.  I spent too much time, endo, plat, ducats, etc. to make this weapon be the heart of how I choose to play - SOLO and Ivara Stealth.

No, I don't cheat with this weapon and I take issue with the assumption that EVERYONE plays AFK, thinking somehow, I'M cheating - well, this is what I did with Zenistar:

    - I use it to help me reduce the chance of getting my abilities whacked by nullifiers (Ivara/stealth)

    - Blanket an area with protection like excavators, while I attack the approaching mobs with pri/sec weapons

Until someone at DE explains why and how they are going to remediate this, I won't spend ONE MORE DOLLAR, PERIOD.

I don't think I will ever trust DE to just leave things WELL ENOUGH ALONE.

HOW ABOUT JUST FIXING THE PROBLEMS WITH THE ABUSERS, RATHER THEN PENALIZING THE ENTIRE ZENISTAR USER BASE.

I don't think I'll take the chance of investing the time, energy and MONEY in grinding away to make a weapon or 'frame the way I LIKE IT, just to have DE arbitrarily WHACK it with the Nerf Stick and BOOM - Instant Uselessness.  No way, never again.

  8. And one more thing....

Why is my fully ranked Primed Reach now only a +3??????

I get the whole Melee 3.0 revamp, but Zenistar's disc relies on a good reach...

So basically, with all the other Zenistar changes, DE is basically telling all users that if you rely on this weapon for CC (and for me, the key ingredient to most SOLO play and level furtherance), tough....

This is a complete outrage and I'm disgusted.  I have reached my breaking point with Warframe.

I have "skin" in this game.  I earned the Zenistar.  I've paid for platinum.  I've bought prime packages.  I've submitted BUG issues I've encountered.  I've tolerated game additions that can't be used (I'm SOLO ONLY; can't do ANYTHING with Conclave - no Lunaro, no mods, no additional experience, NOTHING).  I've tolerated poorly thought out UI changes that DON'T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE CONSOLE C-O-N-T-R-O-L-L-E-R USER THAT DOESN'T HAVE A KEYBOARD - shortsighted and just plain ignorant - fine motor control with the left stick without automatic object homing is just plain wrong - and NOT the ridiculous implementation through the "SLOW D-pad across the screen" you have now).  Heck, I've even offered my FREE assistance as a console troubleshooter for DE - not that you even responded, but still, the offer was made on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS.

Now, the one thing in the game that makes playing SOLO a L-I-T-T-L-E bit easier (CC for crying out loud, not an OVERPOWERED OR CHEATING WEAPON), DE makes this change to the Nth degree and really KILLS IT.

I WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPIER IF YOU DELETED THE WEAPON FROM THE GAME, REFUNDED ALL MY PRIME MOD PURCHASES AND ENDO FOR RANK FOR THE ZENISTAR, AND EXPLAINED THAT IT COULDN'T FIT YOUR MELEE 3.0 MODEL.  I COULD HAVE ACCEPTED THAT.

The Zenistar did not need to be nerfed, it needed to be fixed (disc sometimes won't launch, AoE can't go around certain objects, etc.).  YOUR "FIX" PUSHED THIS WEAPON INTO OBLIVION.

For me, this kills my ability to play this game.

Why my ire, you may ask?  It's simple, really.  I LOVED this game.  It WAS fun.  After all these changes in the last year or so (see above), however, DE, your changes are making life HARDER by making these obtuse, obsequious and downright ridiculous changes.

Hey, we all make choices.  DE decided to make this change.  So Be It.  Hopefully, someone on the DE team who plays with the Zenistar will see the GLARING issues with these changes, wakes up their collective senses, escalates this to the right DE team to FIX it and revert these changes back to it's original DESIGN INTENT...NOT in a month, not in a year, not until the next "big" update, but as soon as physically possible.  It's just the RIGHT thing to do; also, an apology would hurt, ether.  When you piss people off, you need to explain and apologize, it's just that simple.

As I said, we all make choices.  After 3800+ hours of gameplay, if DE doesn't take these issues seriously and address them, from me and the countless negative feedback, then I make the choice to stop playing this game, PERIOD.

The Void Giveth and the Void Taketh Away, TENNO.

  9. This recent change to the Zenistar has totally BROKEN my play style for many mission types and 'frame - weapon combinations.  This leaves me unable to play MANY types of missions with the same level of effectiveness, ergo, I can no longer enjoy the game with the severity of this change, nor am I able to achieve the levels/rewards required to get higher level relics and other things that require higher and higher round completion.  Allow me to explain:

I am a strict SOLO player on Xbox.  (I respect the multiplayer and PC crowds, it's just not for me).

I have been playing Warframe for 3829 hours.

I primarily play stealth type builds, but occasionally play tank type builds, as needed to accomplish a given task.

The Zenistar weapon was MADE to deploy a disc in an area and let it sit/spin to create an AoE, while YOU shoot/melee in or around the AoE.  I'll say it again: IT WAS MADE TO SIT/SPIN.  It was clearly created to assist the player in bringing down or hurting enemies, within a given area; IMHO, a great assistive device.

It's best application WAS for any mission that required you to "protect" something, i.e., excavation, mobile defense, defense, interception, arena, defection, disruption, these types under arbitration and hijack.  It also had a utility in most boss fights, as it could be used to "soften up" the target(s) by allowing a chance to proc whatever you build it for, as well as sanctuary onslaught, where you could deploy a disc on arrival to a new area and run around, while you killed enemies.

In these missions, combined with either a stealth build (predominantly Ivara/Loki for me) or a tank build (Frost+globe, Rhino+stomp), you could create the AoE field and as enemies approached, you could hit them with the primary/secondary while being affected by the AoE created by your build type.  This allowed for a better synergy between stealth, AoE and CC (crowd control).

The key for the Zenistar was to enable a player to go further, achieve higher and last longer.  It was a very effective tool that allows you to SOLO the harder missions and in particular, with stealth 'frames.

In no way was the Zenistar an OP weapon as it was.  I have heavily forma-ed the Zenistar and HEAVILY INVESTED in Prime Mod augmentation to maximize it's range, speed and effectiveness to my level of competence and ability.  It was NOT an OP weapon. It was a very effective COMPLIMENTARY weapon when combined with a suitable set up.

Please revert the Zenistar back to what it was.  Here is what I would like to see:

    - Extend the base time to 60 seconds

    - Remove the spin-up time to start AoE (currently nearly 2 seconds, making the disc AoE only 8 seconds, NOT 10) – Start AoE right from deployment of the staff

    - Remove the ability to ever achieve more than 50% status chance

    - Keep the critical chance to 5% max

If you are not willing to revert this change back, I offer a few ideas to offset the Zenistar nerf, thus bringing BALANCE (as I often hear being thrown in many discussions over the years), by adding the old Zenistar AoE capabilities to:

    - Companions.  Give the user the ability to deploy companion in a stationary position, for 1 minute, all

the while, making an AoE equal to the old Zenistar (mods allowing).  The companion would automatically rejoin your side when the timer expired, allowing you to re-deploy your companion if you so choose to return to the original deployment area.

    - Warframe's Aura.  Expand the idea of Aura from one mod slot to it's own 8 mod slot configuration, allowing the Aura to act as an AoE.  Obviously, there should be some type of energy refresh/depletion mechanism, but moving the AoE of the old Zenistar mechanic to the Aura could replicate the function somewhere else, while preserving the new Zenistar functionality.

    - New gear wheel consumable.  Create a gear wheel consumable that could create a static  AoE or configurable AoE (like mods do for 'frames/weapons) but through different recipe combinations via the foundry, built in all combinations available to any 'frame/weapon.  This could also have an added benefit of helping to clear out the over burgeoning of little used inventory ingredients.

    - Warframe specific replication

      - Ivara - Change Ivara's Sleep only arrow to an 8 mod configurable AoE arrow.

      - Loki - Change Loki's Decoy ability to an invulnerable decoy, with an 8 mod configurable AoE.

I would humbly beseech and request a reply to this by someone in DE that can effect change.

Summarily speaking, this Zenistar nerf has totally blown up my ability to effectively use my Warframe time.  It has completely broken my play style.  It has truly ground my ability to play warframe to a halt.  Without a solution, I essentially either have to create a whole new play style for everything I’ve developed over the years I’ve had the Zenistar or I have to stop playing Warframe.  I am unwilling to relearn everything I have learned to do, in order to accommodate this change.

The Zenistar was THE key, THE linchpin holding 90% of how I play Warframe together.

(Not to mention that EVERY TIME there is a big update, my CONTROLLER bindings change, with NO DOCUMENTATION to indicate HOW and WHERE it’s changed OR HOW TO PUT THEM BACK.  Moving Melee/Disc release and putting the Disc release function with the D-PAD down???  Really???…so I’m suppose to release the left stick, click d-pad down, then move back to d-pad…..Just Bad…PLEASE STOP THIS PRACTICE – Please put it back to combine with Melee; makes better sense than what it is currently combined with.  Enough already.  Just Stop.  Please.  Stop it.)

Please reconsider what you have done to the Zenistar and please take action as soon as feasible.

  10. While I am hopeful that Railjack could be 1-4 players (emphasis on the 1), I have my doubts....D.E. has past precedence on this kind of thing....

    -> Conclave <-

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an emphasis or priority to truly balance the game in all aspects, regarding solo play and multiplayer.   Everything is multiplayer and most is solo...I really wish this wasn't the case, but sadly, it just is.

Look at the recent and ongoing reticle / UI debacle, where the "priority" was a reduction in code "spaghetti" and the forced idea of a "one size fits all" approach (or at least, that is what we endusers were told).  The idea of "fixing" the code to eliminate duplicative efforts across different platforms has yielded a single codebase that clearly favors the PC platform OVER console (and that D-Pad implementation is absolute garbage).  All this, inspite of the fact that PC and console platforms are different, one platform (PC) clearly "won".

Warframe is a PC / Multiplayer game, first and foremost.  IMHO, D.E. will always prioritize these first, and IF it makes sense (and dollars and cents), address all other area's.

I still believe in D.E., but as time goes on, my doubts are growing.

In fact the main development ideology right now is Agile which is all about getting early feedback on features. My guess is that they ran out of time to implement the feedback.

It is unclear that DE implements the Agile process / workflow at all.  A central tenet of Agile is to produce working software, in smaller increments, largely based on feedback.

Anyone who played on console on Day 1 of this reticle update, knows with crystal clear clarity that little testing was done (on console at least) to make this "working"; in fact, it hardly could be called passable at that time.

Have there been updates? Sure, one update after initial rollout that made the reticle somewhat usable.  There are still many, many issues to fix, or even acknowledge and address.

I think we can all agree that:

    a. The rollout was clearly bungled - handled in the absolute worst possible way.  (Little/no testing on console, rolled out shortly before Tennocon and still only one update to address the issues).

    b. Information flow from Warframe users has been incredible and overwhelmingly negative (1744 posts to this thread - Warframes' absolutely biggest thread EVER, and still counting), while DE has communicated very little on this mega-thread (leaving twitter and other venue's out of this point).  This fact alone has exasperated and hit the community hard, alienating a lot of people.

    c. The Xbox @1 and PS4 @4 streams since the update have also been very light on detail and never really truly engage the core audience on this MAJOR issue.  Huge missed opportunity to engage the core audience about this problem, every single time DE has had a stream.  Telling people we are aware of the issues and working on it, then immediately going on with the rest of the stream is terrible.  This is HARDLY engaging the community and helping us to understand.  Where is the community outreach?  Where is the customer relations outreach on a clearly DE botched debacle?

    d. This rollout was not worth all of the next gen UI / new content promises.  All this has compiled into clearly damaged Warframe's base.  I can only speak for myself, but I think I can safely state that I'd rather wait on the new UI, wait on the Sacrifice and wait on all other new content (Limbo prime, etc.), just to get this issue resolved.

Additionally, if they truly were leveraging Agile methodologies, simultaneous releases could nearly be achieved (DE could release any given release on all platforms simultaneously with the only bottleneck being the MS and Sony certification process -  nothing can be done about that).  I personally don't see DE doing this, since from my perspective, DE uses the PC platform for bug fixing to release an update and after an update has been made solid enough, then it is released to console platform for cert/distribution.  I may be wrong on this, but it sure does look that way.

Also, I would love to see a developer scrum, live streamed - it would really give people insight on the development process that the current bi-weekly Dev Stream could never convey!  :)

    @[DE]Steve , @[DE]Megan , @[DE]Danielle , @[DE]Rebecca

At this point, I would like to put myself out there, putting my "money" where my mouth is.  I offer DE my time, effort and Xbox One to help in the effort, going forward on console development/testing.  I am currently unemployed and have the time to put into helping out.  I want to be clear - I am not asking for money or anything else.  I just want to help out on fixing all these issues.  If DE is short on hands, I offer myself and my experience as a desktop OS image Engineer and SysAdmin.

  12. In less than 10 days of the console UI / reticle rollout, this thread is the all time most replied post on the Warframe forum - that's gotta mean SOMETHING DE.

I've posted the issues I've seen and given my own critiqued opinion(s) on the rollout, execution and overall implementation on the console - to say the least, awful.

In light of this, I propose a new compromise.  One that will provide a new way of using the game and provide an equal amount of discussion.

Let's get rid of the Keyboard, mouse AND controller inputs altogether....and support a...

    TRACKBALL!!  (j/k) :)

Seriously, though...a LOT of the issues I identified almost 10 days ago still have not been addressed, and yet MANY MORE ISSUES have been discovered.

I think that while trying to program for streamlined code and for a lowest common denominator between all 3 system users, the overall design, implementation and timing of it all has caused undue stress on the community and a WHOLE LOT OF BAD BLOOD, as a whole.

DE Team:  Please consider that while PC and PS4 have keyboard and mouse support, XBOX users do not as of yet have an officially supported implementation of keyboard and mouse.  Xbox says it's coming, but that's been in the works for a while. (So all those comments about buying a keyboard and mouse and "deal" with it, just doesn't apply. Yes, I do know there are 3rd party solutions available, but these are NICHE implementations and again, not officially supported).

Also understand, unlike PS4 users, our controller does NOT have a trackpad solution, even from a 3rd party and it's NOT on any MS road-maps for development.  It's just not a "thing" on Xbox (unless I'm mistaken).

Seeing ALL the comments, I'd like to know from DE's perspective WHEN the new UI is coming out.  It seems to me that IF this reticle implementation was DESIGNED to work with the new coming UI, it seems appropriate to get the new UI out there as soon as possible, perhaps even a higher priority OVER any new content.

Maybe, if we had the new UI and we discover that the combo of reticle and UI is FANTASTIC and flawless, perhaps you could make people at ease and gain back the confidence in your decision making that you've clearly LOST.  However, if the new UI and this reticle is just as bad, you've doomed the game; there will be no more second chances for Warframe.

IMHO, this ridiculous implementation BOLTED ONTO the existing UI is really doing a number on the community.  JUST LOOK AT HOW MANY POSTS THIS THREAD HAS HAD IN 9 DAYS.  It should tell you guys something.

I hope that sending out this reticle update in the absolutely POOR condition it was, doing the absolute minimum in tweaks for the biggest bug fixes, with NO announcement on a DEFINITIVE TIMETABLE of new UI rollout, was worth it to you.  It is clearly affecting your user base.

    [DE]Steve, [DE]Danielle, [DE]Megan, [DE]Rebbeca:

When can we expect the reticle issues to be resolved?  When can we expect the new UI to rollout (dates, be specific)? What say YOU, DE?

  13. @[DE]Steve

Wow....+900 posts/reply's to this thread.  I believe this topic is one of the FASTEST growing topics D.E. has ever had (and it's only been about 24 hours for console users).

I've posted a few times concerning this topic and I've again, tried to play Warframe with this D-pad update.  I - GIVE - UP.  I've been playing for 3 years and it NEVER took me 10 minutes to mod a 'frame/weapon etc.  Cursor speed does NOT FIX OR ADDRESS THE ISSUES (at last for me).

I completely understand the goal and can respect the issue you bring up - spaghetti code - it's ugly, I know.

Clearly though, with all due respect (and I do mean respect Steve - I watch everything Warframe, Dev streams, Xbox@1, PS4 Stream and Prime time) implementing these changes on the OLD UI is O-B-V-I-O-U-S-L-Y not working, at all.

Also, doing this before Tennocon just made a happy and forward-thinking event turn miserable.  People were completely psyched for Tennocon - now, I dread to see how people are going to treat you guys.  It ain't going to be pretty and for the first time since joining Warframe, I fear this may be the beginning of the end.

Truly, there will always be people in the world that will always complain that "you've moved their cheese".  This, however, is much more than that - this change has rendered the BASIC UI nearly unusable for console Tenno.  This change has caused a LOT of bad blood and it's only getting worse.  Reading though this thread from the beginning, coupled with the fact that there are very few responses from the D.E., things are becoming more and more vitriolic towards D.E.; that does no good for ANYONE.

If you read my previous posts in this thread, I've been close to this kind of situation in my career, but since I don't personally know you or the D.E. team, I can only guess as to what kind of hit this change has done to the morale of your team.

I have a suggestion for a path forward that I believe will help people (all concerned); please hear me out:

    • Someone at D.E. needs to say SOMETHING to the community - either by post or an impromptu live stream with Q&A, addressing this backlash, and not just that you're monitoring this thread - that comes across (to me at least) as very unresponsive to the community
    • Rollback this iteration of the D-pad control and TEMPORARILY restore the old functionality ASAP - this will immediately stop all this fury.
    • Have Tennocon and bring back some of the LOST MOMENTUM and Warframe EXCITEMENT that this update has caused the community degrade - a few well placed apologies wouldn't hurt either.
    • Re-implement the D-pad functionality, with any/all bugs fixes and optimizations with the NEW UI you've been sneak peeking for a while now.

In this way, I believe you will stop the potential mass exodus, stop the hemorrhaging and begin the process for a new future thinking UI framework on the RIGHT FOOT.

One other thing - I am not trying to tell you or anyone what to do.  I Loved And Played Warframe for 3 years now, solely on console.  I have seen whole games be utterly destroyed by less than this.

Also, as a side note and again, not telling you how to do your job, it struck me that if the DEV team made the D-pad work like the cursor keys on the keyboard, in fact, completely the same, I think this would fix SOME of the issues, in addition to a LOT of the other tweaks and suggestions on this forum.

Once again, thank you for your time and I truly hope you are able to fix this mess, because [DE]Steve, I have faith in you and the teams at D.E., but don't wait until after Tennocon....it may be just too late by then....This is my heartfelt sentiment.

By all means, if anyone agrees with this, please UPVOTE this post - and sorry for the length.  :)

...I imagine this was a prerequisite for the new UI and that will likely be the staring point for major improvements. It's on an entirely different framework. The question is how much time do they spend patching this compared to making the new UI better. It's a classic problem for software development that has a unique answer every time depending on each set of circumstances.

I agree with everything that you've posted.  Additionally though, I question the wisdom of rolling these major UI changes during a blackout period before a major event like Tennocon.  Even if this change was in the name of reduced code size and optimization, OR as a setup for a new framework from which to build a new warframe experience, why not wait until the rest of the UI changes that are coming, instead of bolting on these changes to the existing framework?  No matter how you look at it, judgement in many aspects of this roll out is severely lacking (at least from my perspective, as an end-user).

Perhaps MAYBE these changes work better in the new UI that's coming? (giving D.E. the benefit of the doubt).  Then again, if that is the case, why put this out there in a 1/2 way measure?  Also, if this is in preparation for what's going to debut at Tennocon, why not WAIT UNTIL AFTER TENNOCON?

Not only does this hurt the community by handicapping the BASIC functionality required to play warframe, it completely kills the confidence of the user base in relying on the judgement call of the devs to make these big changes to the future.  The question I keep asking myself is, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, D.E.?

FWIW: I too am an "IT" person - I'm not just someone who is crying about changes to warframe.  Without touting my own credentials but to clarify my perspective, I was responsible for creating the base Windows image for a previously prominent financial firm.  This included the absolutely most critical and hard-to-please end user, the dreaded NYSE floor traders (if even the smallest desktop icon or menu item changed, you would DEFINITELY hear about it!).  I had 13,000 desktops under my purview, including patch management on a global scale, for 10 years (in this industry for 20).  Speaking purely from experience, before ANY patch, service pack, application or any change made it to production, it was thoroughly tested by my team, then a small external test group comprised of each department, and after that all the managing director's from each department had to approve each and every change, and then and ONLY then, would I approve a cascaded roll out.  This was on the basis of each quarter and patch / release notes sometimes were the size of "War and Peace".  We NEVER had an issue that compares to the scale that this is, NEVER in 10 years.  BTW...any and all desktop changes (patch / release notes) where fully released BEFORE said roll out, in order to have everyone voice their issues beforehand.  I would never dream of handling my desktops as this update has been handled - I would have had my head handed to me and be looking for a new job (and that's NO JOKE).

I hope D.E. can stem and reverse the tides of revolt and fix this.

D.E., you REALLY need to make it up to us; this was really a BIG CLUSTER (and quickly, BEFORE TENNOCON) or I fear this will shortly become a chasm too far to traverse.

  15. D.E., PLEASE READ!

I have an idea for D.E. in order to help resolve / heal from this update's issues:

I think that, understanding that there will be no more normally scheduled live streams until Tennocon and further understanding that for the most part, the UI changes for console users is an utter disaster, I would like to respectfully request that D.E. have an emergency Twitch live stream with Q&A to address all the issues regarding this update.

I would ask that all developers involved in the process, as well as the console testers be involved in the stream, as there are bound to be many, MANY questions surrounding this issue.  Specifically, I would deem [DE]Rebbeca, [DE]Megan, [DE]Danielle and [DE]Steve, at a MINIMUM be required to attend and answer directly to the community.

I am NOT calling for this lightly, nor am I asking for this to be a witch hunt.  Merely, I ask this because in my view, this can quickly kill the console community, which in turn will kill any/all revenue from said community to D.E., leading to warframe's demise.  This affects ALL of warframe, not just console users.  ALL OF US.

I believe this is going to be the only way to stop the hemmoraging of descent that is happening right now.  It's now 11:35pm EST and the roll out of the console update is about +/- 12 hours old; already this mega thread is up to 21 pages of feedback, MOST of which are NEGATIVE and MOST are asking for the option to REVERT to the old way of menu navigation, yet [DE]Megan tweeted that this update can only move forward, with [DE]Rebbeca retweeting this tweet.  In My View, this is NOT an acceptable answer and I don't think this is an acceptable answer to most console users.

Console users have questions and want answers.  I don't believe that waiting until Tennocon is going to suffice the console populace.  No amount for free stuff, prime or not, will fix this situation (how can we use anything you give us if we can't use the UI and play the game?)  For most of us, as a result of this update, we CANNOT PLAY WARFRAME ON CONSOLE (try modding warframes and weapons for onslaught; it's IMPOSSIBLE to do anywhere NEAR quickly - the words ABSOLUTELY TORTUOUS comes to mind).

What do you Tenno think?  Should D.E. have a stream before Tennocon to address the communities issues?

Upvote this post if you think it should happen.

I hope someone at D.E. is listening and watching this thread.  Just saying your diligantly watching this thread, while simultaneosly stating that we can "only move forward with this" is, IMHO, counterproductive, utterly TONEDEAF and is a slap to the face of each and every user to what the console community is asking for, not to mention absolutely AWFUL customer service.

Thank you for your time in reading my post and don't forget to UPVOTE THIS POST if you agree!!! :)

I would also respectfully ask a forum MOD to pin this post to the top of this thread, as it will get lost as additional posts get added.  Thank you!

  16. Warning: this post is lengthy.  I have tried to be as clear as possible, but that comes with the price of being wordy and saved my (rather strong) opinions to the end, while trying to be respectful of the hard work D.E. puts into warframe.  Sorry in advance if this causes anyone issues!  :)

First Impression....as an Xbox user, navigation has become far less intuitive, slow and generally cumbersome....Allow me to elaborate:

Intuitive - when hitting the button for MENU, previously, the FIRST ITEM in any menu was always highlighted; subsequent sub-menu selection automatically highlighted the first item at the top. This made for quick up/down level navigation.  This is not possible anymore, as it is required to manually move the reticle, with either the LEFT stick or D-Pad.

Slow - in various menu selections, acceleration is never consistent.  Sometimes the reticle moves at a quick pace, sometimes it crawls.  Sometimes using the D-pad is faster than using the Left stick.  Other times, the opposite is true.  It's very frustrating and completely turns me off.  Flipping between Left stick and D-pad slows down the whole process of menu navigation.  Many area's use one for one section and then you have to switch to the other to finish navigating the menu - its a very slow experience.

Cumbersome - Constantly flipping between Left stick and D-pad is AWFUL.  Also, in the old system, there were a number of learned assumptions about where you are, and where you were going, when browsing menu to menu and from section to section - the section always highlighted the first option - that's gone.  Now, where ever you left the reticle on the screen in one area, is exactly where it is when you visit another area.  I.E., open the MENU button and move the reticle to any point on the screen (remember where you placed it).  Exit that menu, walk to a station in your Liset and hit to open that station.  The reticle is where you left it in the last menu.  This may be counter intuitive to the new menu.

Here are the issues and bugs that I have encountered in the first 1/2 hour:

    • Using the LEFT stick seems to work, albeit a bit slow.  Acceleration is slow to ramp up to full speed.  Perhaps a shorter window?
    • Using the D-pad has issues:
      • On entering the menu, the reticle no longer defaults to the first item in the main menu.  This is an issue for two reasons:
        • Prior menu behavior allowed for smoother transition between menus (every menu and sub menu option ALWAYS highlighted the first option; no guess work, you knew it was there and you're on your way).
        • You must be aware of WHERE the reticle is in relation to it's location on the screen before navigation the menu, slowing down the console experience.
    • Reticle awareness - now you need to know WHERE the reticle is in order to go forward.  This was never a "thing" on the console; adding this dynamic causes LOTS of problems.  There are issues with reticle screen homing and homing consistency.
    • Reticle Menu navigation (clicking on the MENU button while moving in Liset):
      • If the reticle is parallel AND left of the MATCHMAKING bar and you hit D-Pad right, it goes to the GAMERTAG drop down box.  HOWEVER, when you do this and then move the Left stick up or down, the reticle seems to get stuck in a loop of moving up and down within the "Show Gamercard / Show Profile" section from about 2 - 5 loops.
        • If moving Left stick up, the reticle will eventually break out of the loop and move out of the "Show Gamercard / Show Profile" section, resuming normal movement.
        • If moving Left stick down, the reticle will eventually break out of the loop and move to NAVIGATION, resuming normal movement.
      • If the reticle is anywhere between the middle of the screen to the right border (top, middle or bottom) and you hit D-Pad left, the reticle automatically goes to the NAVIGATION menu item.
      • If the reticle is anywhere between the middle of the screen, and different parts of the left side of the screen, the reticle will go to different sections, seemingly homing to different menu sections, based on relative proximity of reticle and menu items/sections.  This is an issue, as different points of the screen may cause that same looping issue as above, but may NOT land on NAVIGATION as above.  Depending on exactly WHERE the reticle is in relation to the "MATCHMAKING SOLO" box, "INVITE SQUAD" box, "GAMERTAG" box and NAVIGATION section, will yield numerous loops as above, loops between "INVITE SQUAD" box and "GAMERTAG" box, and different NAVIGATION menu options when breaking out of the loop(s).
    • Reticle Starchart planet navigation:
      • Tested on any planet and in this example, on Venus: Keeping hitting D-pad right until you get to the "To Earth" node, then hit D-pad right one more time.  Reticle fly's to the top right corner of the screen, completely off the screen, reappearing in 1-2 seconds.
      • Moving reticle to mission bar (on planet) but not opening menu yields some interesting reticle movements:
        • Move reticle with Left stick to any mission icon, Tap D-pad in any direction, the move Left stick:
          • Any Left stick movement yields the same looping issue as seen in NAVIGATION menu.
          • After the loop, depending on that last steps' Left stick direction, will yield the reticle to move to different parts of the screen, including flying to the top left corner of the screen to flying to a planetary node.
          • Sometimes the reticle moves in the opposite direction of the Left stick movement for a few seconds before returning to actual stick push (only seen after getting into this series of loops).
          • Sometimes, while hovering over an icon on the mission bar, all the nodes and flightpath lines almost fully disappear; other times, they stay fully lit up.  This is independent of causing the looping issue.
      • Moving reticle to mission bar and opening menu [RB] - D-pad does not work and won't highlight any missions on any section.
      • Moving reticle to matchmaking bar, then tapping D-pad in any direction, then moving reticle with Left stick will yield the same kind of looping as seen above.
      • Moving reticle to extractor circle, then tapping D-pad in any direction, then moving reticle with Left stick will yield the same kind of looping as seen above.
      • Moving D-pad up in any direction, to cause the reticle to move to the edge of the screen will make the reticle fly off the screen in a different direction:
        • Moving D-pad up until it leaves the screen, the reticle will slowly move right, off the screen, then reappear just above the mission bar.
        • Moving D-pad down until it leaves the screen, the reticle will slowly more to the left, then reappear just below the chat bar.
        • Moving D-pad left or right until it leaves the screen, the reticle will move to the top left or right of the screen, then reappear in it's corner a few seconds later.
        • Moving the Right stick while on any planet so that you are not fully zoomed out, but yet can not see the mission nodes, makes the selection button [X] not zoom back to the planet (as it does when you are fully zoomed out).  The double circles that appear when you normally choose a planet show, but [X] does nothing.
      • While on the topmost layer of the Starchart (full planetary system overview), if you move the Right stick to the extreme right:
        • The star chart is "over zoomed-out", and paths / planets become dim. In this "over zoomed-out" state:
          • Moving the D-pad in any direction won't always home into a selectable planet or area (denoted by a double circle).  If you try to click on these area's with [X], nothing happens.
          • Move the reticle with Left stick to any planet, tap Right stick to the left or up, and the reticle moves very far to whatever side of the screen that planet is on the Starchart, where there is nothing but empty space. I.E., is planet is on the left side, doing this will make the reticle go very far to the left, top goes top, bottom goes bottom and anything that is not on the X / Y Axis will diagonally away from the planet.
      • If you tap [Y] for the MATCHMAKING, the reticle seems to try and home onto the topmost selection, but it ends up between Matchmaking title and Solo.
      • Move the reticle with the Left stick and select MATCHMAKING with [X], the reticle does NOT home onto anything, forcing you to move the reticle with the Left stick or D-pad to select any option.
    • Open the NAVIGATION menu, and the Warframe image will snap it's head - it's just weird!
    • Open the SYNDICATES menu and move the reticle to the Gametag icon, then press [X] to select - nothing happens!  Yet if you press [X] on the + sign, that works.  (Same thing in the CONCLAVE, FOUNDRY, MOD, MARKET, ARSENAL, VOID RELICS, CODEX, OPERATOR EQUIPMENT or OPERATOR APPEARANCE menus).
    • Open the CONCLAVE menu and open the MISSIONS bar ([LB] or [RB]), D-pad doesn't select any mission any column.
    • Open the CODEX menu and under either QUESTS or MISSIONS, using the D-pad will only move to boxes that are being shown.  Reticle will not move to anything that is not shown; you must use the Left stick to show these items and then the D-pad will highlight those items.  The D-pad should scroll through those items without having to use the Left stick, as it does in the INCUBATION menu columns - very inconsistent.
      • This issue also presents in the MARKET menu and anywhere in the Arsenal menu, be it warframe, weapons or anything else where there is a scrolling box list.
    • Open the CODEX menu
    • Under QUESTS column, there are always six boxes to choose from (3 x 3).
      • Move the reticle to the third column, second row, third box with the Left stick, then click the D-pad to the right twice, the reticle will move to the same off center right area as above.
      • Move the reticle to the third column, first row, third box with the Left stick, then click the D-pad to the right twice, the reticle will move just below the line between first and second rows on the right, off center to any box.
      • Move the reticle to the first column, second row, first box with the Left stick, then click the D-pad to the left twice, the reticle will move to the first row, to the same off center left area as above.
      • Move the reticle to the first column, first row, first box with the Left stick, then click the D-pad to the left twice, the reticle will move to the left side of the screen, to almost the outside of the box; should not move outside of the center of the box.
    • Under the MISSIONS column, the same behavior happens, with the exception to the left side.  The left side behaves as it should; the right side behaves as the QUESTS right most column issue.
    • In any section under CODEX, the speed of the D-pad movement is significantly slower moving to the right than it is moving to the left and significantly slower moving down than moving up.

This is just what I have found in the first minutes of running around my Liset.  I haven't even played the new content, since this has taken me quite an amount of time to compile, test and document.

My overall impression is that it looks as though that while trying to "streamline" and bring consistency between PC and console AND bring keyboard/mouse functionality to consoles, what we have here is a PC centric way of utilizing the UI, bolted onto a console.  Using this new system does not seem to leverage any controller advantages and in fact, seems to sacrifice them in order to bring PC centric mouse/reticle utilization to the console.

It really feels like you are forcing a square PC peg into the round hole of a console.  IMHO (and it is just my opinion), a PC keyboard and mouse will never equal the consoles' controller and vice versa.  Neither are superior or inferior; both have their merits and disadvantages.  This new UI implementation is horrible, slowing down the whole experience of UI navigation if you are using a controller, bugs not withstanding (as noted, are many).

As a console user, I will NEVER use a mouse and keyboard on my console.  This is the reason why I choose to use a console.  I prefer using a controller without having to fumble between a mouse and keyboard.

I do recognize the fact that warframe tries to accommodate everyone and I do appreciate that fact, As a matter of fact, I applaud D.E.'s efforts in this ever evolving and expanding game.  Unfortunately, this whole UI partly-mouse-reticle, partly-D-pad-solution will drive me away from using this game if it is not fixed and/or remedied quickly, be it console OR PC - yes, I absolutely hate it that much.

I also question the wisdom of foisting this upon the console community without adequate testing (everything I found, I got in the first 1/2 hour of using; you can't tell me no one noticed this stuff, c'mon guys), no option to revert to the old style via menu selection and most of all, doing this FUNDAMENTAL UI ROLL OUT just at the beginning of BLACK OUT period before Tennocon.  This whole thing stinks of being rushed.

This is how you could fix these issues:

    • Fix the obvious bugs - enough said.
    • Make the reticule always highlight (or automatically home to) the FIRST menu option in every menu where appropriate - this would greatly minimize a LOT of the navigation issues.
    • Give console users the CHOICE of navigation style; Reticle / Classic Controller, just as you do with console controller default and custom layouts.  Just imagine what would have happened if all of a sudden, D.E. removed all of the keyboard / mouse optimizations to all users, during a pre-Tennocon blackout period?  Imaging if D.E. FORCED PC users to NO MOUSE reticle and could ONLY use the Up, Down, Left, Right keys?  I think D.E. would have had a virtual RIOT on their hands.

As an MR 21, 2985 hour, CONSOLE and SOLO ONLY Tenno (+/- 3 years), I implore you to rethink this implementation and give console users the OPTION of using this mode or the old style.

Once again, I thank you for your time and indulgence in reading my thoughts.

  17. Hey DE[DevTeam],

With the deployment of Plains of Eidolon, will there be any new Archwing frames, weapons, primes, mods, swag, etc.?  Understanding that PoE will obviously be awesome for Archwing, it would be equally great to have more choices/variety.

Also, now that Archwing will be utilized far greater than it currently is, are there any plans to change/improve the movement mechanics?  Some Archwings are almost too slow/sluggish and others seem too fast/uncontrollable.

Additionally, when in an Archwing mission, finding a storage container is (for me) like having an exorcism!  They show up in the HUD minimap just fine, but the Codex/Synthesis scanner is SOOOO short range, I usually get dizzy trying to find exactly where it is in the x/y/z axis!!  Perhaps a 3D minimap with a Z axis?

    Thank you for your time!

  18. Thank you for the suggestion, Snib!  I generally agree that solo is usually easily done, it's just lately (as I tried to indicate above) solo and console seems to be more of an afterthought by DE than an equal consideration..

I have Ivara (which I love for Spy type missions; too squishy for much else), but my thinking was a tank build, not sneaky...I'll definitely try your suggestion!  Thanks again!

  19. @FierceRadience and DE:

I have to agree with your original post – here’s my experience, FWIW and IMHO…but first, some background and a warning, this is long but I felt all this really needed to be stated to complete the picture of my utter frustration and disappointment…It’s also a bit of a rant, but with a purpose, so please indulge me, readers and DE alike.

As an xbox SOLO ONLY user, I loved warframe…then multiple things started being introduced that KILL MY FUN.  The new star chart system came and suddenly, a game that had a UI that was applicable to PC and console alike, fast and smooth, now is CLEARLY made for a PC keyboard and mouse and NOT for a console controller.  The reticle is STILL slow and sluggish; using the dpad is no where nearly as smooth as the old ring design, stopping on each planet and within each planet’s sections with pausing to show a new popup picture.  Clunky, unintuitive and sloppy for console users – I suspect that PC gamers reveled in the new design and clearly little to no thought given to what it means to control the star chart with a console controller.  I put up with this because, I loved the game.

With the new star chart system came the introduction of the dreaded “Network Not Responding” issue ON ALL RELAYS (not during gameplay) and failing to enter RANK UP.  I’ve tried everything from research and port experimentation, posting on forums, opening a ticket (only to be told thank you, we’re aware of the issue and a fix is coming) and then almost immediately closed WITHOUT a resolution.  So now, I still can not RANK UP MY WARFRAME PAST MR 15 to this day!  Ok then, so be it, DE must be really working on this, since it’s taking SOOO long..  I put up with this because, I loved the game.

Then came the Teshin backstory and Conclave.  I was really jazzed about playing the conclave, with new gameplay, content and mods.  To my dismay, my first try was my LAST try, since there is NO WAY TO PLAY SOLO.  So, now we have a whole new section that as a SOLO USER, I can not use!  As a SOLO ONLY console user, I find myself COMPLETELY SHUT OUT and I’m pissed off.  For crying out loud, even the holiday snowball event was a SHUT OUT to SOLO users.  I put up with this because, I loved the game.

Now TWW finally hits console and I loved the story!  I was looking forward to using the operator in a mission, instead of just utilizing him as just a glorified power-up.  I played my first “kuva” non-fortress mission and WOW…what an EXTREMELY FRUSTRATINGLY B-A-D EXPERIENCE.

I went in with Frost at 1250 shields and 750 health – thinking to myself, this might be OK to get through.   I get to the siphon and suddenly find my warframe down with a hit from a Kuva guardian (IMHO a giant red and black Goomba with arms) and my shields are GONE.  I also find myself SLOW to stand (I don’t know why).  Ok, so I go “operator” and boom, my controls don’t really work right.  I tried the move to stun; left analog stick forward while simultaneously holding LB and tapping RB – and didn’t work.  I kept getting hit and going back to my warframe and BOOM, I'm dead (thank DE for the new 4 lives re-spawn).  I tried many times in the same way and achieved a 50/50 success rate getting stun to work.  When I finally lined up a guardian, didn’t get hit with enemy fire (guardian or other enemy), didn't die and achieved my stun move, I found trying to execute the dash maneuver EQUALLY DIFFICULT to successfully execute (another 50/50 chance).

Ok, so after repeating this and failing to survive or failing the kuva part of the mission, on MANY missions, I was able to finally do this part with a very MINOR amount of success.  So now I can finally try to get some kuva!  Then it hits me; what a really ANNOYING sound this thing makes!  But Wait…TWW bought some REALLY REALLY COOL directional sound, with proportional and proximal distancing. RIGHT???…now I have this really loud and overpowering screech, not only overpowering to the senses, it is NOT directional and basically mutes everything else.  All the sound rework was gone. Ok, fine, so let’s try and find the “kuva clouds”…and boom, the kuva queen tells me she got some!  I have no idea how it got by me, but hey, I must be tired or something so I hear the screech again and basically hover and hop around the siphon and again, I missed it.  Well, for the next 10 mission retries or so, with little success in stunning the guardians and when I get them vulnerable to kill them off, I almost NEVER see the clouds…even when all stars align and was able to get all of these things to go my way,  boom, my operator can’t pull of the dash move.  Now I think I understand WHY…when I go operator mode, I read on a reddit thread that there was an OPERATOR ENERGY LIMIT!!! WHERE IS THE ENERGY BAR FOR THIS ENERGY?  I believe a lot of the issues in control revolve around the fact that my operator doesn’t have enough energy to DO the move, but where is the meter?  How long between different moves does it take before another execution?  How can you tell?  Are we supposed to guess?  Is it me or am I really that blind that I don’t see it (totally possible)?

Ok, so now I have to balance the controller issues, do 2 different and staggered controller executions to kill the guardians or be killed, while keeping my operator and warframe alive, turn the brightness and contrast on my TV up to see the kuva clouds (watching the noodley appendage on the siphon DOES NOT HELP, IMO), execute another dash and pray it will execute either because of cumbersome and staggered controller sequence or the invisible gauge of operator energy, all while avoiding being killed by any amount of level generated enemies…After many, many missions all I was able to collect was 116 kuva – THAT’S IT!?!!?

All this was bad enough, but now, FINALLY we get Nidus and I thought I was going to be able to get this warframe, after seeing it on youtube in action and totally loving it, and BOOM…I need KUVA to get this thing built and it’s 2000 kuva to boot!  I am ONCE AGAIN now effectively cut off from ever getting Nidus; without platinum.  That’s just not right.

All of this is far TOO frustrating to even attempt anymore.  There are simply no words to describe my level of loathing of this new gameplay.  Ridiculously weak operator endurance, misplaced and unneeded difficultly, arduous and tedious controls and last but not least, a new gaming mechanism that INVALIDATES the warframe for most of the new gameplay – the supposed strongest weaponized and ancient warrior suits in the universe.  I'm all for more difficulty / better rewards, but this; REALLY? WTF?!?!?

I now find myself NOT loving the game as I used too.  In fact, I find myself greatly disappointed and feeling like DE has been penalizing me for my gaming platform of choice and gaming style (PC first in UI design, PC first in updates and whole swaths of gameplay ineligible to the solo user – a very unequal experience).  Now, with this crazy difficult kuva mechanism, I am beside myself.  I didn't even get into the decision of tying Riven mods to sorties that (at least for me) are nearly impossible to complete solo!  (again, perhaps it's my skill level - maybe I'm just that inept, so be it - I can do without riven mods - then again, yet another unnecessary game design decision that is completely myopic to SOLO only players, barring them from yet again, another piece of warframe).

I have played warframe for 2,002+ hours and counting. I have seen most Dev Streams, Prime Times and Mondays with DE_Megan.  I absolutely love the lore that TWW brought to the game, but with all these experiences, I will simply NOT be playing warframe for kuva, Nidus or anything related to kuva unless there are OTHER WAYS TO GET KUVA and major changes made to the current operator/kuva missions to PLAY IN A FUN WAY and be achievable (not necessarily easy, but NOT ridiculously difficult) .

I still put up with all of this because, I still love the game but if this trend continues, I fear I will not love this game anymore and just stop playing.

Once again, sorry for the length of this post, but I hope this has a positive effect for change.

  20. I've noticed that when I go to any Relay (after landing animation) I immediately get "Network Not Responding".  This intermittently stays on, but mostly it's on.  When I go the Cephalon Simaris area, choosing Simulacrom, talk to Cephalon Simaris and engage Simulacrom, or start any "Mastery Test", the screen will pause for +/- 46 seconds, then I see the "Landing Craft" animation and I'm back on my Landing Craft.

I've been a member for quite a while now and I've never experienced this kind of issue.  From my perspective, I've only seen this since the Silver Grove update(s).

I do not have any issues running missions, buying stuff from the Relay (Cephlon or Baro) or any other Relay issue...Any idea's or is this a known issue?

  21. When choosing a Sortie mission on XB1, you click on Navigation, then click RB and select the Sortie missions category.  I noticed that the first mission tonight was a Sabotage mission (Attachment 1),  however when selecting that mission, navigation brings you to the right sector/planet but the mission type shows its a Defense mission (Attachment 2).

I skimmed/searched through the forum's and didn't see this particular issue, so I thought it should be reported.
