  1. This is only true and good if you see "trading" as the game.

If you see trading only as a way to get things you want to, to play the game with them, you want to put in as little time as possible while avoid getting ripped off.

Firstly, it is VERY easy to take the steps I mentioned, it'll hardly take any time at all.

And your list could make it more difficult for poorer players to "put in as little time as possible".

    Example.

Mod x sells for price range 100-250 platinum.

Some people sell it quick for 100, some try to get as much as 250.

Right now, a new player with little platinum has the chance to get the mod for 100 platinum.

However, you introduce a list that shows this range and most players will see "250".

The list will dictate the value, and the lower price range will become much rarer.

Which means new players would potentially have to put in much more time to gather the platinum they need to afford the mod they want.

Right now it takes VERY little effort to make yourself aware of the ranges for each item.

All a list would do is dictate the values as the majority of players would only sell for the highest price in the range.

  2.

Some sort of suggested Price would be welcome specially (or maybe only) if it came from DE, but I doubt they will. At this point trading is like some dark deep shark waters, I limit myself to watch the channel from time to time.

It's nowhere near as bad as you suggest.

    Here's an example.

You want to sell a maxed Redirection mod, but you have no idea of the value.

    You can:

Search the forum here to see what transactions have occurred.

Post a "wtb Redirection" comment in the trade channel and gather information on the price range.

Post a "wts" and see how the offers you get tallly up with the range.

Then you can make an informed decision.

This process is not beyond anyone, and doesn't take much to figure out.

A list will only do one thing. It starts out as a reflection of the market, but ends up dictating the market. This isn't good because it limits trading to referencing the list and everyone selling at the same price = no contest.

Prices should be in constant flux.

Players should use their own deductions to choose a price range they're comfortable with.

Bartering should be encouraged, with people who can negotiate well being rewarded for their efforts.

If you make a list that becomes popular, no one will deviate from it. It will end up dictating the values of things which could actually make it more unfair for players with little platinum.

  3. Plat doesn't often get generated out of nothing, it starts from real life purchases. I suppose its theoretically possible to constantly make new accounts for the starting plat and trading it, but seems like a terrible ratio of value to time.

    Starting platinum cannot be traded.

  4.   Yep. Figures.

But anyway, ignoring his charming behavior - I don't think anyone has much business getting worked up is all.

      Lets talk hypothetically here.

Some dude is selling Map clears (completing every node of a certain planet with you.) - he says "Alright. For 50 plat we'll have you done with 100% of Ceres/Sedna/Whatever. If you search my name on the forums you will find my thread titled "(something)" - When we finish I'd seriously appreciate it if you popped in and posted our progress (if we have to break or put it on hold) or just a simple 'We got it done, thanks' so that future customers can benefit from feeling safer. If you want I'll even hold up so you can check yourself. I've got a short list of thank yous already."

THAT is freaking awesome. Even worth encouraging. Sure - he is charging plat. But a guy willing to do that sort of thing for people is awesome. He is doing something that IS valuable to some. For those who can't stand that? No biggie. A lot of us have a Clan to rely on for that and wouldn't need it.

    I agree.

the only issue is that it will create a lot of work for DE and the team they assign to moderate these transactions. As there's no real way to track them besides chat logs and word against word reports, if selling services becomes a standard they may have their work cut out managing it.

Until players build up reputation for being reputable service providers (perhaps with threads that contain rep feedback), there is also a lot of potential for people to scam in game. And unless DE are going to crack down on every case and have an efficient way of doing so, it could lead to a lot of problems if it becomes widespread.

  5. ive seen a mod sell for 2500 plat.

    im not kidding.

that is absolutely appalling, and its made worse by the fact that DE allows it.

That's probably Primed Chamber. It's an exclusive event mod that cannot be acquired in game at the moment.

The sellers didn't create the price, the buyers did. This is a very simple case of [limited] supply and [exceptional] demand.

Someone put up a thread a few days ago, he asked for 1000 platinum for Primed Chamber. First few posts were along the lines of "that's ridiculous", and "over-priced, no one will pay that!", and so on...

Then a few players came in and started placing bids, the competition got so high that the bids reached just over 3k (if I recall correctly).

This wasn't the seller trying to exploit others, this was the demand for an exclusive item driving the price up.

There's nothing appalling about supply and demand, unless you think the seller should ignore the demand and just sell it for something you consider "fair"?

  6.  Wiawyr is banned from trade chat. You're not talking about something that is possible.

He was in trade chat about 20 minutes ago, I spoke with him directly after he posted the ad. Not sure if his ban was temporary or very recent, but he was certainly just there.

Anyway, I agree with Blatantfool. Even though paying for esteem leaves something of  sour taste in my mouth, if he's selling invites and not shirking on his deal then there's really nothing inherently rong with the transaction.

Person A offers service for stated price.

PErson B pays stated price and receives stated service.

    Person B is happy.

Person A has done fulfilled a fair deal.

The morality of selling for "wins" is something else, and too subjective to be enforced as a rule unless the devs decide that's something they don't want to see in their game (ie: their house, their rules)

  7.

Let's take our personal positions, for or against it, and turn it into feedback on trading to DE. While I deeply reject the idea of the spreadsheet, the OP has been polite in their replies, even tho we are here basically casting stones at them. If they dont have my support, their forum attitude has my respect at least.

This would be valid if he'd engaged in response to the points made against it, but he doesn't seem to be interested in doing that.

So while we cannot force him to take his site down, I don't see why he's worth commending.

  8.

Oh, now there is one.. its WarframeTrading.wyldside.de ;)

Have you ignored all the valid points against this website?

Telling people there is an absolute price/range for an item will do much more harm than good.

You need to read through these posts and really consider the points being made.

We appreciate you're trying to do something good, but this will damage the market much more than it will help it.

  9. On a side note, I looked a bit the trading chat this weekend.... and i'm a bit shocked...

400 plats for a Max serration??? And, at the same time, 10 plats for max Vitality??? I'm still not sure who's ripping who off...

What you saw was probably one person trying to get the most for his Max Serration, and another trying to buy a Max Redirection for as cheap as possible.

This is why a list would be a bad thing. Everyone has their own idea of value, to some a Max Serration is worth 300-500 platinum because it represents a large time investment, to others it's only worth 100 because they value platinum very highly, for example.

There is no "ripping people off". Everyone can see the chat stream, everyone is capable of doing a little research and finding out what the ranges for each item are. Sometimes people simply don't agree with those, and just want a fast trade or to maximise the amount of platinum they will get because they value the amount of time it took them to create the max mod, and so on.

this i a /good/ thing. It enables people to profit and it enables bargains to be had, and it also enables anyone to earn their platinum back if they feel bad about a trade they made.

  10. As i said, we don´t try to dictate anything, we try to reflect.

And yes, it could be abused, but i trust myselfe not to do it, i can understand if you don´t trust me yet, hope i can prove me worth of trust ;)

Sorry, but it's still not a good idea to dictate the TRUE prices this way.

Let the market be free, not just a reference sheet.

    Thanks.

  11. was just writing "troll is troll, then i saw this and deleted it.  some people are dense lol.

    I wouldn't call it trolling.

    just playful satire.

Some people forget the entire point of Founders was for us to support DE and a game we believed in, the rewards were secondary to that.

  12. I think it's disgusting!

We paid to support this game when no one else would. We're pretty much heroes! Yes, that feels about right. Heroes.

DE are constantly disrespecting us by not giving us what we deserve. how dare they release new items that give people other than Founders access to exclusive gear! Now when we go in game and show off our exclusive Prime items, we're forced to endure Prime Access latecomers taunting us like sadistic matadors with their beautiful, beautiful scarves!

How DARE DE do  this to us, to the people who raised them from NOTHING!

I mean, it's disgusting that anyone but a Founder get access to exclusive items!

Every Founder should get endless platinum...

    no, wait...

Founders should get their own store were every item in the game can be bought with credits....

    no, wait

Founders should get a % of DE's profits each month, before tax, and paid directly into our bank accounts!

I mean, we deserve this, right?

    I mean, we're Founders, right?
