Anisotropic filtering causing major FPS drops

I play at 1440 maxed out 60+ and now with 16x AF on FPS drops to 35 FPS, 4x is 50 FPS already, when I disable it it's back to how it should be. Running r9 290, i5-4670k, 16gb RAM.

Thanks for a temporary fix. Will be using this until performance fixes. Bad sign for switch port with these frame drops on big rigs. Best of luck DE/Panic Button!

Holy Moly! You are right. I have been playing PC games 14 years and never seen AF have that large of a performance hit!

i7-6800k @ 4.25Ghz
32GB RAM @ 3Ghz
GTX 1080 @ 2Ghz
Samsung 960 Pro NVMe SSD
1440p@144hz

152 FPS off
105 FPS 16X

30.92% performance hit from AF being OFF to X16. That is insane.

I can prove this is happening. See screenshots. I have the FPS on in my settings and the pic show

I hope DE fixes this issue soon. I have exactly the same issue. 60 fps everywhere else with a decent rig, 25-30 fps in Orb vallis while anisotropic filtering is at x4, x8 or x16. Orb vallis is unplayable atm for me.

Interesting. Did anyone try turning it off in-game and forcing it in the drivers to see if that's faster?

(At work now so can't test it myself.)

Edit: Tried it last night and the FPS drop is the same.
