Title says it all. This problem only happened when I play Waarframe. I even ran my PC for 6 hours watching youtube, playing other games like Fallout 4 for the past 3 days without this issue occurring. It happened as soon as I played Warframe after about 3~10 mins in. It's hard to pinpoint, sometimes it occurred when I'm in the login screen regardless of how long my PC has started and running.

Btw, here are my specs to better help people pinpoint the exact cause. My CPU is custom built at an IT store and it's overclocked by the technicians there.

Plus, this problem only started after installing this Windows Update: "2019-09 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64 (KB4522738) Sept. 27th 2019

So, when you uninstall this update does the problem get fixed? If so, it may just be an issue with the update itself. It isn’t all that uncommon for Windows Updates to cause issues.

update the nvidia drivers

Updated to latest version, 436.51.  Shut down the pc and started it up.

Launched warframe, problem persisted at login screen and beyond. Had to shut down my pc manually.

'Driver version' factor eliminated.

Now it's either warframe or windows or both's problem.

refer to my quote to Pie's reply.

Should be of any leads to this seemingly currently unexplainable problem since the windows 1903 sept cumulative update.

That doesn't remotely answer my question. What I asked was: "when you uninstall the update you believe it started at, what happens?" If that fixes it you know the update was the issue, and you have to wait for a fix. If it doesn't fix it the problem will be something else.

Rollback/uninstall this and see what happens.

I think I'll wait for fix from Windows for now, not saying that your suggestion is irrelevant, that is the problem you pointed out in fact.

And what if your issue isn’t caused by the Windows update?

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/gtx-1660-ti/ NVidia specs says boost clock 1770 MHz. This might be the cause of your black screens. Overclocked GPU unable to work correctly, blacking out video outputs when GPU crashes.

Besides crashes or black screen, there is a possible slow down. Is the graphics card plugged into a PCI-E slot closest to CPU for a faster x16 Gen3 speed?

This motherboard have 2 slots, but only one, the closest to the CPU, have full 16 lanes for fast speed. The other PCI-E slot farther away from CPU is only wired for 4 lanes which is slower.

Does the graphics card work fine at the stock speed of 1770Mhz boost clock?

I've never had this problem occurring 2 months ago when I got this new PC intended for gaming. It ran Warframe just fine. If this has direct influence to the problem, the problem would have started within the first month. The problem started just the day after I installed the September cumulative update for windows 10.

As for the Over-clocking safe range (within how many MHz added to the base clock boost rate to the GPU is considered to be harmless), I'll need further information and advice to tackle this potential factor that could be the main culprit. Thanks in advance.

I've never even considered that factor to have direct influence to this problem, I'll need further information from you, I am not too sure of where my processor core/CPU is located in my PC, so I'll send you pictures of my PC before further troubleshooting.

CPU have a huge heatsink on it on the picture. Well, won't see the CPU, only the large heatsink on the CPU. Your pictures looks like the PCI-E graphics card is on a slot with only 4 lanes. For speed, turn off and unplug computer and try to move GeForce graphics card to the other slot, closer to CPU, which have a full 16 lanes, faster then 4 lanes. When done, tools like GPU-Z should show more lanes, hopefully PCI-E x16 3.0.

If unsure what it looks like, google image search shows all kinds of images of what it is.

CPU: https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=CPU
CPU heatsink: https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=CPU+heatsink

If unsure how to move graphics card, youtube videos can show how to do so. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+change+PCI-E+graphics

Alright, I will give it a shot soon, will let you know how it turns out.

Hey, I've been having the same problem that you describe for a while now it is really annoying and have tried everything that I can to fix it all drivers, temperatures but still haven't been able to solve it, were you able to get a proper solution for this problem?

Yes, for my part. It turns out that the GPU I got installed alongside the custom PC is faulty, not sure where they even got it from.

They ended up replacing that GPU with a new one, and then everything worked normally until now.
