Direct X11: A Possible Cause For Many Crashes On The Derelict Tile Set.

If any of you have ever crashed on the Derelict tile set it's most likely because Direct X11 is enabled. If you turn off that setting hardware failure errors don't occur often at all, if ever. For some reason these settings for Direct X11 are malfunctioning across the board, so this isn't a pocket case for a select few systems.

Direct X11 doesn't seem to display any issues on other tile sets -- at least on my computer. Crashes only surface on Derelict.

For me, Direct X11 affects one other tile set, the normal Void tile set. It didn't crash often, but it did, from time to time, crash. After the Derelict tile set came out and I turned off Direct X11, I noticed that I don't crash anymore in the Void. Hell, it seems like the framerate improved after I turned off Direct X11. Which sucks as I bought the Asa Syandana, only to find out that if you don't have Direct X11 enabled, that particular Syandana doesn't show up in-game on your character. Already sent a ticket to DE, asking for either a refund or exchange for an item of equal worth, they just replied with that they are aware of the bug and are aiming to fix it.

hey guys, me and a friend are having a lot of crashes in the derelict as well, how do you disable DX11?

When you start up the Warframe launcher, there is a gear symbol. It will open up the options menu and you can disable DX11 from there. Remember, from the launcher. Not the game itself. Because that was what I thought at first before realizing I was an idiot.

Hey everyone,

We have just added a new option to disable runtime tessellation for DirectX 11. There is a good chance that this will alleviate the problems that some of you have been seeing in the Orokin Derelict. If any of you would be willing to enable DirectX 11 again and then disable tessellation via. the in-game Options menu we would really appreciate any and all feedback that you can give.

I am going to post this in many of the threads that mention Derelict performance however please do not mistake this for an automated message. We have been digging through all of your performance posts and we take them very seriously. I am only posting this across the board so that we can get as many eyes on it as possible.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and I hope this change can improve everyone's time with Warframe.

good day to anyone who is reading this.

i still CRASH with dx11 off, multithread on or off. and i even reach the point that i had to turn off all option to low for the sake of testing it.

i was the host and equipped hobbled key. this always happen with any key.

when my team found the door i began to get graphical lags, and crashed within a few seconds.

its not my system, i have an i7, 8gig ram, and a gtx serie graphics card. (malware/virus/all not necessary stuff at msconfig is off. only warframe is  only running.)

i only crash exclusively on derelic map, all are fine.

i am not the only one who STILL experience this, i have friends who has this problem but they are quite lazy to report and cease to do OD missions. even with the latest HOTFIx.

-i hope this will get fixed, i have faith in the staff of this game.this is one reason i still do not spend money on this game with these bugs. i know im whining but i am just being frank.

With DX11 on and runtime tesselation off, I'll still crash on Derelict after I find the secret room where a vine is sticking out from the center of the room. There are lockers around that vine too. Once I go inside my frame rate dips from 100 to 25. Once I leave it takes about 30 seconds before my client closes due to hardware failure.

Same here.

The problem is with DX11 support. I never crash. The only way I crash is with DX11 enable. Nothing to do with tesselation thing.

I tested tesselation and doesnt affect my performance. Same fps.

Phobos is another problem. PC specs is nothing to do with the performance there. I get huge FPS drop there.

PC Specs

Core I5 3570k 4.0

8 gb ram DDR3 Kingston HyperX Blue.

eVGA Geforce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2gb Superclocked.

Hi,

Guys, I'd like to contribute here, too. But please guys, remember to state whether you are using STEAM or the native launcher -it may help DE.

My specs: Windows 7x64 (updated), nvidia GTX660 (320.49, 327.23 -both drivers result in same crash) and 16GB DDR3. i5 3570K stock speed and overclocked -same crash.

My Warframe (STEAM) will crash with DirectX 11 enabled from the Launcher. At first it only happened on a Defence mission, but reliably so, which made me think it was a specific bug. Then the crash spread to other maps and mission types. It became very frustrating and my Error Reports to DE likewise became more impatient.

With DirectX 11 turned off the game runs 100% solid with no crashes. I have tested DX11 with Fullscreen on and off from Launcher, Fullscreen and Borderless Fullscreen within the game. DirectX11 is the culprit.

We are not alone, there are many users reporting that DX11 is a source of crashes for Warframe. One user reports a workaround --though technical --involving reverting the dxgi.dll to an original Windows 7 version; read the full article for context before doing so yourself. I have not tested this myself:

We should really not have to suffer this frustration. We can invest a lot of hours into this game and crashes can result in lost rewards and time -especially if you crash in a Mastery Test! Please, DE, give us a response to acknowledge the problem. And users, please contribute here if you suffer DX11 issues too -STEAM related or otherwise.

Regards,
