Mirage Hall of Mirrors /Hall of Malevolence clarification

Question

A question here regarding Hall of Malevolence, and the 5% damage bonus per enemy killed, capping at 50 %. Assuming clone damage % stands at 30% of player weapon output, for ease of numbers.

Does the %5 refer to an increase of 5% of the 30%, capping at 50% boost.. aka an overall increase bringing the clones up to 45% of player weapon output?

or

Does the 5% refer to 5% of player weapon output capping at 50% additive, resulting in a clone damage output of 80% of player weapon damage? Based on this scenario where the clones damage is 30% prior to any buffs from Hall of Malevolence.

Can anyone help clarify?
