You can extend the range of the heavy attack. It already has a walk-up animation, but if you find yourself short or if you'd like to hit more enemies with the sawing animation you can hold CTRL(slide) to move forward a couple steps.
You can hold the normal forward combo at your enemy's face by toggling crouch.
The uninterruptible slams and slow swings can be cancelled by some warframe skills (ive tested it with Iron Skin(Shrapnel), Dispensary, and Roar). It seems like the game prioritizes the skill activation over the melee combo animations.
