i'm gonna have to agree here, stay away from best buy. they're overpriced and i've had absolutely abysmal experiences with their customer service and policies. -- tiger direct is also on my list of companies i won't deal with. lots of folks like them, but... yeah.

take this with a grain of salt. this is only my personal opinion.

newegg on the other hand, i've had nothing but good luck / service

What you need when building your own rig is some review site calling the shots.

Guys that write reviews in Amazon or Newegg barely know how to turn on an iPad, while in those sites there are decorated nerds on the chair.

Graphics card benchmarked and listed in power here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

Processors benchmarked here http://www.cpubenchmark.net/

The first thing you need to do is look around for reviews of motherboards you want to buy, from reputable sites, like tomshardware, anandtech, 3dguru, xbitlabs. Then compatible processors (they are listed in the manufacturer's site under CPU support) and a graphics card, and hard drives or SSDs.

Then you need to plug all the data in a PSU calculator like this http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp to get a rough idea of what kind of PSU you must buy. Then buy one that has received good reviews. Cheap crappy PSUs are the top killer of hardware, and aren't worth saving 50$ on.

I usually skimp badly on cases unless I'm swimming in budget cash, and either scavenge one or recycle an old rig's. I prefer to invest those 50-100$ in good hardware than in a nice box.

A nice addition to any desktop gaming rig is a decent ups https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply that will usually save your rig from overloads and S#&$ that happens during thunderstorms, and also give you enough time to save and shut down your work in case power runs out (assuming you have connected your screen to it also).

But since your budget isn't very high I'd say to leave this out for future.

I generally recommend to register and post most hardware-related questions in more specialistic sites, like Sevenforums/Eightforums or Overclock.net.

You've got to be kidding me... that or you're overpaying to a ridiculous degree.

almost 900 euro. but. need more ram. better video adapter-> 600 euro alone.

Can be cheaper if i would buy in russia by parts. but again. time. roads. customs (especially russian).

wow, i had no idea folks were getting screwed that badly.

that system can be built in the USA for about $700 (520 euro) -- or less.

and a 760gtx is absurd overkill for warframe. -- so no, better video card wouldn't be needed.

You will get more use out of a PC because you will get web browsers, more F2Ps, cheaper games(Gotta get dem steam sales) better controls, and you can get office(I use office allot so I look at it as a plus) to name a few; oh yeah and porn.

Ofc the porn... it all comes down to that.

No but seriously yeah i can see pc's better for the time being.

any store will scam you. for the most part by the price of video adapter. most common way to charge a high price through video card.

But if i would buy a new pc, i would buy it for next 3-4 years, maybe 6 with further possible upgrade. It is not about warframe alone, i am running wf on notebook for the most part, and this notebook is 3 years old.

There is little sense to buy a pc for a year or two. I almost have a maiframe at home, which will be enough for next 4 years for sure.

pre-builts are overpriced crap.

I'm ready to bet my backside that it has one of the trashiest PSUs in existence. They ALWAYS do.

as for more games on ps4. roflmao -- omg seriously?

i can't even fathom what would cause someone to say that.

considering any current pc can play virtually any previously made pc game. (dating back to the 80's)

and when you factor in emulation... every single console game up to ps2 / original xbox (without getting iffy)

especially when you consider that i believe all of the about to be released console controllers work on pc...

yeah. hands down. pc is by far the better gaming choice. unless you want the less than 100 console exclusive games. (forza? gran turismo?)

play those at your local gaming pub or your buddies house that bought the ps3/4 xbone. :/

in the long run, PC is both the cheaper and most powerfull platform (PC nation athem runs on background)

remember that you have steam discounts (which is what is going to make your PC cheaper in the long run), a lot more indie games, customisating the settings of each game you play (if you don´t like color correction, go PC), choice between keyboard/mouse and controller, and you can be part of THE GREAT PC GAMING MASTER RACE!

what does PS4 have? the most expensive games ever (at least in my country. a single game costs 4 times what a PC game does) and some exclusives, like infamous second son (infamous series somehow think that morality is simply good or bad) and....ehm...what else?

I laugh every time I see a console player talk about how their system is going to be more indie game friendly. It's like they forgot about the Indie king.

LISTEN UP!

It is pretty easy: PCs have more power, are most customizable, and are more future-proof than consoles.

In my country, the PS4 costs about €400 [~$500 US] - for the exact same price, you can get a nice mid-range gaming pc!

Furthermore, you can use PCs for everything you can imagine: Office work, multimedia processing, etc etc etc.

So, why be a retard and get a console? Be smart and get a pc for your budget!

[by the way: If you want good performance for your money, go for a Gigabyte/AMD system ; )]

have a nice day and regards

It's worth the effort to figure out how to make your own. Make sure to find a good retailer with price match, and then price scout the far reachings of the internet so you get all your shopping done in one place for cheap. Here in western Canada, we have NCIX for this, they've let me build several great systems for a low price (one for me and several for other people). My current rig was made shortly after the sandy-bridge re-bin (first launch had hard-drive issues with motherboards) and has since only added an SSD and a new graphics card that will last me a long time(GTX770). It's a very nice machine at about 1000 Cdn,

Tom's Hardware has great guides to educate you on the essentials of building. There's several nuances to making a pc that are specific to the parts you get however, so always read your included manuals.
http://www.tomshardware.com/
Just use the search^

A well built and maintained PC will last many years, there's in zero way a requirement to upgrade expensive components every cycle, unless you're one of these people that needs everything maxed on every game all the time. Playing an older game on high and a newer game on medium won't make the newer game look any worse than the old one. Consoles are built without upgrading in mind, so there's a big technical wall, PCs are as consistently powerful, or ever evolving, as you want them to be.

Most people are bogged down by all the PC Myths. It's a shame really.
