[Warframe] The Defender

(idea created using Second Life 3D Modelling and Champions Online character creator tool, if the idea was to be accepted it would of course, be redesigned as im not exactly great at matching Warframes wonderfully unique style ^^ The character design bares no resemblance and is not based on whatsoever to the Champions Online character 'Defender')

I have been working for a while on the concept of a Defensive Warframe who is more attuned to Defense/Survival and overall providing a Back-Bone form of team-support, from a distance.

He currently has no name, but i have left a few names that seemed fitting. Which name do you like the most out of those?

I am a Rank 12 player who just cant logout of this game and i enjoy every Warframe soooo much, but from playing many other games over 24 years and wanting to personally be a part of Warframe development in some way, i thought i would introduce and propose to you, the Warframe Community and staff to a Warframe which plays like a Turret-Defense-Strategy kind of way, where you must apply Tactics to be effective, instead of relying on brute strength or enemy manipulation like many other of the frames. Trick your enemies into a room full of traps and then throw the ice on them!

I would like to introduce to you, The Defender:

its a free to play game where you can setup characters and design them with items that where modeled by "Cryptic Studios" ....

the pant/crotch parts name is "roin esh"

the feet are " mecha feet"

screenshot. look at the legs..

robot_hood_points.jpg

It was not stolen as you so bluntly say. The character creator from Champions Online was used to create a likeness of the Warframe i had in mind. There is a character in that game called Defender but this is not a design which looks like or represents him in any way. The Defender concept is called that because it is all about Defence, as you can see i have left names for you to look at.

The reason it is mentioned as another source is because i do not wish to...as you so have, advertise any such other game. Second Life WAS used to create the QuadRail turret.

Like i said in the original post, before you claimed i stole anything, i used Second Life and OTHER SOURCES to make that design idea. Enjoy Warframe, dont hate on others especially with false accusations of theft.

So that you GET IT and FAIL TO READ THE WHOLE POST FURTHER, iv edited the first post to make it clearer for you.

You're a complete inconsiderate word I will not mention here. Snake obviously took his time and put a lot of thought in to this, and he did not steal anything. If you simply asked where he got the material for it I'm sure he would have gladly told you. Don't be such an A******.

Actually Vyra has a point. Snake is using character models from Champions Online (without their permission, I imagine), and neglected to say that the models were from Champions Online to begin with ("other sources" is incredibly vague). Even in his edited post he doesn't say the character models are from Champions Online... only "based off of."

Also there's a Warframe Osprey model thrown in there... no mention that that was taken from Warframe. With the way SnakeWildlife worded his original post, it seems like they're claiming that they did ALL of the modelling in Second Life, which would in fact be a blatant lie. The primary source in this is actually Champions Online, and should be first and foremost (the Champions Online model appears the most in the posts, along with its stances/animations), not Second Life.

Also, everyone settle down.

Again, i mentioned in the first post that models were used from Second Life, now read this next part: "And other sources". I simply hadnt stated what resources to avoid advertising (advertising is against forum rules isnt it?, well thats why).

"Second life" "Other sources" are two different items, not one in the same. I cant write it simpler without advertising.

The accusation that i lied is simply that you did not read the post correctly. I know you're a community manager and i respect the work that you do, but i know right now that you just didnt take what was written, properly. There is no statement whatsoever that it was ALL in Second Life, which is why 2 of you are over-reacting because you thought that was what i meant somehow, and shot a bullet first and didnt ask the question first. You took a presumption out of proportion.  I state my innocence, iv confirmed all solid evidence and facts and edited to the first post to clarify, lets move on.

Please read:

it seems like they're claiming that they did ALL of the modelling in Second Life

Still though, if you've done any sort of formal research work or writing, you should know that you always need to credit every source. If I were to put "cited from various sources" in one of my research papers without any specifics, I'd get slammed with academic honesty infractions for plagiarism.

Anyway, this debate is over. Keep the topic about the concepts proposed, now that it's clear where all of the ideas and models have been taken from.

Aye. Letter13, I think you should clean this thread up. You know. Because you messed it up.

2) POSTING – Use our forums to talk to us and talk to each other in an intelligent respectful way (see Rule #1) that encourages interaction and thoughtful discussion. Stay on-topic, constructive and use descriptive Topic titles. Don’t RAGE POST, have misleading Topic titles, post spam,..... advertisements......., pornography or any other inappropriate, offensive or irrelevant content to the Forums in text or image form. We will delete it, and if you don’t stop, we will ban you. Three strikes, you’re out.

...

If I'm not mistaken, SnakeWildlife made a proper decision as to not "credit every source" as you may have put it, in this case because it infringes on the rules themselves that your'e supposed to uphold in the first place. I suppose though, SnakeWIldlife may have been better off putting a spoiler tab and providing that information, to uphold that "acedemic honesty".

I also think in this case instead of accusations of stealing and plagiarism it would have been more constructive criticism that the models, whether created with a tool kit or of some other source, was pointed out to be possible from something other than original concepts, instead of plastering this whole page with advertisement to another game as it is now.

As i said in my first post here, i hope that the community could refine this idea and because it may , otherwise from the issue above, is a great concept in itself , and it's this opportunity that not many other gaming companies give to the players to provide in game content and have possibility of actually making it to the final product.

Good luck to everyone who has posted in this thread because it takes a lot of imagination and time to come up with these ideas, AND then not only put work into it , but put your work into the spotlight for the rest of the community to sit and judge and (Hopefully) make these ideas come to reality.
