While at the 2 hp threshold, any damage taken, either to shields, or energy, causes the operator to die and forces you back into the warframe. It's simply that your frame is still taking damage (you have an ability active so you only get 90% dr, not immunity). And once your frame reaches 0 (or 2? hp) your operator is sucked back to your frame. Try again but without an ability active. See if you get different results.
