When I first started Chroma Prime was released and when seeing it in squads, it demanded that you take notice and pay attention.

But the years haven't been kind to Chroma. Changes in meta have left him lacking. Fast forward to 2023 and myself with a leveled Chroma Prime

I asked a simple question, can I bring him up to snuff with everything we have available. (Shards/Umbral/Helminth)

I considered everything, but I had settled on Combat Discipline to make it work without self damage.

It was janky as but it worked until the hotfix. On changing some things around and got him just right. Personally I do feel he needs a refresh (Passive/First/Fourth) That is neither here or there.

For your consideration, I submit the following:-

Growing Power, Speed Drift

Full Umbral, Primed Flow, Primed Continuity, Narrow Minded, Adaptation, Armoured Agility

Arcane Energize, Molt Augmented

Helminth'd Pillage

1 x TF Yellow Casting Speed, 2 x TF Blues Health Regen, 2 x TF Red Power Strength.

That gives me a very safe Chroma that can stay in the fight for longer.

Kind Regards, Prag.

A wholesome post in the midst of all the other posts is always welcomed

The changes to Chroma’s augment/vex armor is welcomed. Feels so much better to use

Agreed. Maybe he might be the next one to get Pablo'd

I am very happy with this change for my #1 Boi. I agree he still needs changes to his 1 and 4. But I would also change his 2 to have it function like the Augment all the time. If Wisp can drop very similar buffs and allies don't have to stay within a perimeter of her motes to maintain it, the same should apply for Elemental Ward. Constantly having to be aware of my allies position in this game gets tedious as hell, everyone moves way too much and fast.

I have to disagree on changing his passive. I love his Triple Jump.

I still need to try Pillage on him, but my current goal is trying to make him a reliable support frame. And DE just gifted us Guardian Armor, it just needs to be a bit more reliable in Pub matches.

Either way, this has been one hell of a Year of The Dragon.

I take it you mean the Pablo’d where he blesses them with beautiful buffs, and not the Pablo’d where he wields his might nerf hammer?

Yeppers, Pablo'd. I do feel that because he is only one person there is only so much someone can do in one day. So I'll be patient and wait.

I could never get the triple jump to work and don't really understand it.

Pillage gives status cleanse. It's my basic go to. I'd use Rolling Guard but I feel it should one work of you have statuses that need cleansing.

Ohhh yeah I forgot Pillage did that, I'll have to try it out. I've been using Wyrm Prime for status cleanse.

It's got some funny rules, timing plays a big part. The new Sanctum Simulacrum is the best place to try it out. You also can't Triple Jump in Relays and similar public levels.

You'll know you've successfully Triple Jumped when his wings pop out.  He can do the basic jump 3 times in a row. He can also bullet jump twice, and add an extra basic jump at any point while in the air.

I'll try to add some videos as a visual aids later but some maneuvers you can try are:

Jump, Jump, Jump

Bullet Jump, Jump, Jump

Jump, Bullet Jump, Bullet Jump

Bullet Jump, Jump, Bullet Jump

You can also throw in a roll for some crazy distance. My favorite for big rooms is

Bullet Jump, Roll, Jump, Bullet Jump.

I also use Amar's Anguish and Yellow Shards for Parkour Velocity so I'm just flying lol.

I know this is a Chroma post but can Frost finally get a new passive 🤣

There a few Duviri decrees that would work. I do feel that there should be a full pass on passives. I've noticed that Nova having a passive is a meme in circulation atm

You're Chroma seems a bit off. You should keep to using Power Shards. Mine has 404% snapshot Vex. Cast speed doesn't help Ward enough IMO.

If you want to gain Fury you simply don't use ward right away. You also want to use Primed Vigor since this gives him just enough shields that one trip through will max Scorn. You def don't want any Armor mods on him. I personally also use QT because he has more energy than he needs.

The result is 130k eHP before Adaptation and about 1100% damage. Give him Nourish for a free 4.25x multiplier cherry on top.

Chroma became good when they changed frames from using Ferrite. Being armor based his flaws were always Puncture and Bleeds.

I always take the safe route. For me it's about staying in the fight for longer.

Huh? 130k eHP is the highest Chroma can get.

Taking needless damage is how Chroma stays alive longer. It keeps Adaptation stacks and Grace proc'd. It's when either of those are off that he's in trouble. He's not like Rhino where you get a solid 150k Overguard then play decent. Chroma is actually better playing quasi bad.

At 96.5% DR + ~50% Adaptation he only takes 1.75% Damage from everything but Bleeds. Other status effects don't even matter much. If you want to use Rolling Guard to counter Bleeds that's fine but nothing else in what you posted would help him stay alive better.

Personally I used Deflection since Nourish removes the need for Energize and Viral status is just busted.

I don't actually use Grace on my Chroma. What I usually use in arcanes is Augmented/Energize/Blessing

I had considered Nourish but I'm not one to go with what everyone else is doing. I tend to work laterally and solve the problem.

Why don't you want armor mods?

i run power shards ( i dont have primed vigor though, Thats a login reward right?) and also run 3x umbral mods. I think my vex hits like 1300%~ power with sling. r5 energize/nourish keeps my energy fine.

Care to share your build? Chroma's been my #1 homie since launch and finally glad to get him back out!

If you use Heat then Umbra Fiber is fine. The extra set bonus makes up for using an armor mod. If you use Ice it's 180% on top of 2000% so the mod slot is better used by a raw HP source like Primed Vigor or QT. QT being the highest value but also the less reliable of the two.

After doing the math which I'll show below. Heat is also marginally less prone to bleed death.
Every time I get hit with a Bleed Chroma dies in seconds. Heat would last about 50% longer but lose the 0 damage taken on some guns and slow.

The extra +50% Power comes from Parazon kill snapshot on Vex though it was inaccurate of me to apply it to Ward.
I did it for consistency because I'd already done one comparison using the full 404% Power. Yes, Primed Vigor is a login.

What made you pull him out now? Since they changed Warframe armor from being Ferrite and double dipping him. He's been decent.

Spoiler

404% Power 1,128HP Primed Vigor 855 Energy (Ice)

EDIT: Crap. Just realized I did all that using Chroma's old base armor values. Fixed.

Thank you so much!

I had shelfed him simply because overguard was rampant it seems, Mind you ive only been back for about 4~months, and the last time i played we could still damage ourselves! lol!

Thank you for the build, Pretty much how i had mine setup minus the QT/PV and arcanes! Thanks for the nerd math info, much appreciated.
