Can you gain MR points from Rank 30 gear?

Can you gain MR from something that starts at lvl 30?

Like say I put Forma on a Skiajati, will I be able to get MR from that?

No. Adding Forma doesn't give you MR.

Mostly no. If your gear won't increase past level 30 after forma it means you won't get exp.

Some weapons like kuva or tenet weapons, Necramech, Paracesis and maybe some other can be leveld up to 40 with forma (1 forma = 2 levels).

they are supposed to give the mastery when you acquire them for the first time.

In most cases no. In a very specific cases yes. The following weapons/items can be leveled higher, increasing capacity by 2 each Forma used, up to 40 with 5 Forma:

• Paracesis
• Kuva weapons
• Tenet weapons
• Voidrig Necramech
• Bonewidow Necramech

It is very inefficient way of getting Mastery though (I havent done that with most of my gear and am LR4 without problem). Think about it like a bonus for using Forma.

In that case you get the Mastery upon aquiring it. You can check in your Profile.
