AXCrusnik
If you melee and then hold down block during the melee animation, after it completes if you are still holding block, you will equip your ranged weapon and block with it until you release block (or run out of stamina I suppose). Notso
It must be a glitch. If it was intentional they would have improved the animation beyond just having your weapon there... Edited March 21, 2013 by Notso

On top of that the blocking animation is consistent with the melee you have equipped. It's a bit different for each type. You can see this in the pictures above, their hand positions are different for dual dagger/long sword/2 hander
McCrabby
here's a stupid question: what's the default button for blocking?
AXCrusnik
here's a stupid question: what's the default button for blocking? For me it was Mouse Button 4. I have a Razer Naga though so... others may not have a MB4. MB4 for me is the "Back" button by the way. For going back and forward in browser pages. Check your control configuration to be sure, or change it to your liking. Edited March 21, 2013 by AXCrusnik
