suman24
I have recently obtained Hellios and planning to start scanning everything now. I would like to know if scanning an object or an enemy provides mastery points or not. Thanks in advance.

suman24
No, it does not. Are there any other purpose of scanning beside expanding the codex?

TC-Guardian
It means you can view what the weakness' and drops of the enemies are, it also means when you go to mods it will tell you which enemies drop what. It is actually surprisingly handy. Edited June 9, 2014 by TC-Guardian
taiiat
the Codex does not provide Mastery Points currently - but completely expect it to someday. as well as the information of Enemies' Survivability and loot stats, Weapon Stats, what Mods exist, Et Cetera. 0Pinger
Scanning anything not already scanned by you gives xp, so if you have a leveling weapon/frame it gets the xp so yes in turn it gives mastery eventually
LordJellyBiscuit
Scanning wont give you mastery xp, it wil only expand your codex. If you need a good way to gain mastery xp, bring all new frames and weapons with you on missions it wil boost your xp. You can also do interception missions on earth, it gives you 300xp every time neutralize a spot and capture a spot, and im pretty sure it goes to your mastery aswell. 0Pinger
Scanning anything that is not fully scanned during a mission gives xp for each scan, xp ranks up weapons/frames/sentinels so you gain mastery as they level, so Yes scanning gives mastery indirectly
