Help With My Boltor Prime Build

Question

Sorry to bother you guys with this, but i'm somewhat insecure about my build for Boltor Prime.

I was playing void and someone said that I should be able to double my sustained and burst dps and I'd like to know if that's true. My thought behind the build were that I'd use normal elements over event mods (even though I have them) because damage seems to be more important than status. Also, i chose shred so it would chew through crowds and because i figured 30% fire rate=30% extra dmg. Wildfire was the most controversial choice, i would have used speed trigger, but then it would eat ammo, also a little more dmg and a few extra shots are nice. This build is a general build, i typically use it for the void.

This is the exact build I use. As you can see, the burst DPS is significantly higher. I'm not sure what you make of that, but for 4 forma I think it's great :D

The base burst damage is higher, but it doesn't take into account the enemy resistances in the void.

I'd suggest switching fire for cold for shields, and then with the empty space either speed trigger when you're feeling frisky, or ammo mutation for extra long runs.

Thanks for the advice all :) At this point raptor's suggestion makes the most sense to me, this is the build i'm thinking of switching to:

this switches wildfire with cryo and hellfire with speedtrigger, as suggested. Considering that those heavy gunners are annoying as hell, this seems like the most appropriate build for void. thanks again for your advice :)

Ouch. Shred and Speed Trigger on the same build is gonna HURT your ammo economy.

Personally I find no use for Shred, as Boltor Prime has innate knockback which allows for multitarget potential. I would replace with an event mod adding more Corrosive, or with Ammo Mut to make up for the ammo lost by using Speed Trigger.

To put numbers to it, Shred when ST is installed is only +16% burst DPS, and less than that in sustained, and more ammo used per second. +60% Corrosive is +16% DPS too, but more of it's Corrosive, good for gunners, and the added status chance is nice.

Can't believe no one has suggested using Bane mods. Of course, you can't add those to Void builds as effectively, but they're definitely a contender to use over a 4th/5th elemental mod and I personally dislike Speed Trigger.

Hitting multiple enemies is only half the benefit of punch through, terrain punch through equally important to me at least.

Bane mods have no effect on the enemies in the void at all.

This is what I use instead.

Yes yes yes, I know boltor has innate drag through so at low levels you won't see the benefits of punch through.

At higher levels, the mobs don't die quickly enough so they won't drag through as often.

Shred doesn't care, it will go through all of them be it dead or alive and it goes through cover.

So there are other builds with more on paper DPS, but take heart the moment you are hitting 2 targets, your DPS is way higher than theirs.

And if you using strictly void, you can don't waste a forma on the cold polarity (need only 4).

If you want to be more versatile, change the (D) to another (-).

I tried out the build with shred and speedtrigger, and I found that its ammo viability varies depending on what warframe I use. If I use my Nyx or Nova, I don't have to worry about ammo at all (as my abilities are also killing enemies and making them easier to shoot/quicker to die.) If, on the other hand, I use my Zephyr (and presumably frames like Ash and Rhino, where I rely on my primary weapon heavily) I run out of ammo more frequently. I can use consumable team ammo refills to help offset this, but it is inconvenient to do so, so I will likely have an alternate build where I switch out my speedtrigger with either a cicero or tethra mod (I would like to keep shred as the punch-through is quite useful for crowds late-game and shooting through cover, as fatpig84 and rapt0rman pointed out.) Also, in regards to polarities, the one's shown have already been built, so forma is no longer a concern for me.

Just to make things easier to understand, this is what my build looks like now:
