The Sentients were never defeated.

You are an unconscious Tenno who was fighting in the losing war against the Sentients not long ago.

Everything that happens in the game is a stubborn dream of you wishing how things turned out instead.

...

It all started out beautifully.

When humanity faced extinction from the Sentients, the Orokin extended a helping hand and saved us.

The Orokin supremely enriched our technology and our culture began to respect honor and balance.

Together, we ruled the galaxy. We slaughtered the Sentients with ease wherever we went.

But we underestimated the Sentients.

While we grew complacent, they were preparing for a war that would wipe us out.

They were biding their time, growing exponentially.

But that's not why we lost.

...

Difficulty of the game

At first, the war seemed easy as ever.

The Sentients were being killed left and right by the thousands.

It all seemed too easy.

Then the reinforcements came. They were more advanced than the previous ones.

In the corner of our minds, we wondered if we were being mocked.

We held our planets for a while.

Suddenly, they overwhelmed us in number.

We were being killed left and right by the thousands.

It was impossible to win at this point.

We were being chased from planet to planet.

Our ships became our shelters.

Our Orokin homes were being inhabited by the Infested who were ignored by the Sentients.

...

The factions

Before the war, the humans have split themselves into two political groups.

One believed in power.

Another believed in profit.

The rogue third were the Tenno.

Like the ninja in ancient human history, they worked undercover, keeping the two groups in check.

And the Tenno had an ugly, bitter secret.

Each variation of the technocyte virus was the result of countless animals' and humans' sacrifice.

Each power came at the cost of countless failed experiments that permanently altered individuals.

Being a rogue organization with small funds, the Tenno couldn't provide care for all who were infected.

We silently banished them to remotes parts of the system.

They turned on us and threatened to reveal our secrets.

We slaughtered them like animals.

We villainized them and called them "Infested."

Eventually, we placed the blame on the Orokin for the root of the political corruption.

We killed them. It was then the political groups became factions.

Please wake up - Lephantis

Jj0Z2gz.png

Throughout the dream, your mind constantly attempts to wake you up by using references to reality.

You want to believe that it's because of the Sentients' numbers that you lost.

But deep down, you know the truth.

In the core of the political chaos was the giant beast that is human greed.

...

Please wake up - The Stalker

The Tenno organization was created with the intent of preserving what the Orokin taught humanity.

Respect. Honor. Balance.

But the Tenno have turned to mercenary work, working for the highest bidder.

Our ethics went down the drain long ago.

We betrayed our origins.

...

Instead of the system being overrun by the Sentients:

You'd rather wish the system was in a perpetual state of conflict between the factions.

You'd rather wish the Tenno were the good guys fighting the factions for honor and balance.

You never killed Grineer soldiers or Corpus engineers.

The Infested never looked as monstrous.

Before it's too late, you have to wake up.

The Orokin saving the humanity? The experimentations? The glorifications of the warframes?

Mag's entry implies they were the opposite of glorified.

There have been no mention of the Orokin saving humanity at any point in any of the lore we have. We still dont know what the Orokin are but i think its more likely they are humans/transhumans than aliens. I also havent really read any glorifications in the codex lore since excaliburs lore is more like a describtion of what purpose the tenno were given. Embers lore hint more at the Orokin having dirty secrets and Mags lore showed a glint of a pretty grim reality.

Eh ok.

I interpret Excalibur Prime's lore differently than you do. Not mere description imo.

Of course the Orokin had their own dirty secrets. Everyone does :p

I think the Tenno were grossly mis-shapen "humans" (Too far down the millennial line for that, it'd be more homo sapien sapien sapien)

Hence you get the genetic oddities like Frost's Squall helm (How do you fit a head in there?)

And while it was at the cost of many lives, that's why the Tenno are so few. The Technocyte virus was created separate entirely.

....At least according to codex, confirmed dev bits from ages ago, and more. Subject to change, or waking up.

Very well written, I quite enjoyed this post.
