Pc To Be A Month Ahead Of The Ps4 For Future Updates?

With DE announcing that they've sent update 14 to Sony for console users, from the time PC players have had this update, it'll be a month and a day difference. So it begs the question, due to the length in which it's taken DE to get this update to us, are us console users going to be a month behind in the future as well? Will PC users be receiving update 15 within a week or two of us receiving update 14?

We're definitely not receiving U15 THAT soon. You're probably going to get U14 in another week or two.

It will probably be anywhere from 3 to 5 months before PC gets U15, meanwhile U14 (and probably 14.5) will have already been brought to consoles.

PC will always be ahead of the console in terms of updates though because of the nature of the development cycle for Warframe. Everything is developed for PC first (which gets deployed immediately because there's no cert process for releasing PC patches/updates), once it's been developed it then starts the localization/porting process in which a team of console-coder developers take the PC-developed content and start working their software-engineering-magic to make it run on console hardware (this can take a few days or many weeks depending on the size of the patch). After it's been ported it gets sent to certification which can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks depending on the size of the patch.

Due to the way the development works the PC will always be at least slightly ahead of PS4.

The time difference is variable, though.  We could be a week ahead or a month ahead.

We haven't heard anything about U15 yet.

Indeed, they can try their best to keep both versions pretty close but, we'll see what happens.

On the note about U15, that probably won't be in the talks (at least for us), for a while.

This is because they were trying to get the best possible packaged version of U14 to PS4. As in without all the game breaking bugs, glitches, and login errors that came along with it. On top of that, as countless Tenno have said, this is by far the largest update they have ever released so it makes sense that it took a long time to get to the secondary platform. I'll be happy if I can play U14 on PS4 sometime this week, I honestly believed it would be much much longer. At least till september.

Yes, always. Sometimes more. You can thank Sony for it.

Current Status (August 7th, 9:55AM EDT): The team is finalizing localization and technical requirements before sending the build for certification mid next week.
