Opticor Trigger/magazine Mechanism Rework

So, the Opticor is far from terrible, but I think it could be changed to better suit the fast-paced warframe environment.

 

Magazine: 25
Mechanic: can fire 1 unit of ammo with a single click, firing on the click. A held click will charge it up as normal, with an extra unit of ammo being added at the 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% marks, with a corresponding damage and AoE increase up to it's current charge attack at 100%.

Suggested damage values of 15, 35, 55, 75, 100% for 1,2,3,4,5 ammo use in a shot respectively.

while we're at it, make the beam a bit wider. being Hitscan (ugh) plus having a narrow beam can make it difficult to hit multiple Enemies with your giant Laser Cannon of death.

 

since it has almost no width to it, hitting nearby Enemies is spotty at best.

 

 

furthermore, the Beam could stay in the air for a while, slowly dissipating, dealing DoT Damage to any Enemy standing inside the beam. so super high Damage as it is now when fired, and moderate DoT for a few seconds afterwards if an Enemy is in the trail of the beam.

This would be a very useful tweak to it while keeping the 540 ammo.

 

Alternatively total ammo could be lowered to 72, like bows, could be fired by a single click and make its hold to charge a bit faster and allow it to hold the charge. You could even add a 10sec timer while it can hold the full charge before violently discharging doing some (capped) damage to your frame as well so you cannot run around with it like a bow.

 

This would allow you to aim better or if a target disappears before you were able to charge up the gun or you could aim at a new target or reposition without wasting your shot which you cannot do currently.

Add to the above that the AOE effect only happens if you hit an object. Killing an enemy with a direct hit - without punchthrough - is not killing anything standing next to them which makes me feel the whole AOE mechanic of the weapon lolrandom at best.

 

It could be a very good alternative to the taped together cardboard box of a rocket launcher, the Ogris, if it had the mechanics to match the style of the gun, but in its current state it is still subpar. I really wish for a slight mechanic change to make the gun more Tenno-friendly.
