Alternatives To The Meta - Secondaries

Question

Hey guys. I just wanna start this since I wanna spread the word that there are a lot of viable weapons out there. Sadly, these weapons don't have enough recognition, and are usually overshadowed by others.

If you are tired of the Marelok or the Brakk, please give these a try.

AkBronco Prime: http://goo.gl/WeNJNK

Detron: http://goo.gl/hgKF5Z

Dual Cestra: http://goo.gl/1o3zzW

Pyrana: http://goo.gl/ghiyOH

Twin Vipers: http://goo.gl/yFbq53

AkBolto: http://goo.gl/JjwwNb

AkVasto: http://goo.gl/pmJKpu

AkMagnus: http://goo.gl/Etk6qk

Stug: http://goo.gl/gjSqlX

Lex Prime: http://goo.gl/OBjeMd

These weapons, compared to the Marelok, actually have a close, or even a much greater, Burst DPS. I argue against Sustained DPS because if the enemy is still alive after you unload your clip, and if you are planning to go for long missions, then you may end up dead.

I also avoided the use of Fire Rate mods (besides Lethal Torrent) because they give a false sense of the actual DPS.

Though, I have to say that the Brakk is OP as fk. xD : http://goo.gl/BS8QKo

Note: All the builds are oriented for the Void. Some weapons are better than others against other factions, due to their physical dmg type.

EDIT: Honorable Mentions:

Kraken: http://goo.gl/uL7Aaq

Seer: http://goo.gl/yXmTi0

Hikou Prime: http://goo.gl/AHeGq3

Castanas: http://goo.gl/zeHoXM

Tysis: http://goo.gl/PPgmXY / Ninjamander's Build: http://goo.gl/5DUUy1

Bolto: http://goo.gl/3hPdUy

Despair: http://goo.gl/ez486H

Angstrum: My Build - http://goo.gl/NIHT6o / Snowman846's Build - http://goo.gl/ObMdw8

I agree with akbolto 100%, I use it all the time for endgame content. I personally think that the angstrom should be on this list, with the right build, it kills.

Although these are a bit more controversial, I'd also add hikou prime and despair to this list (as a status proc weapon, hikou prime is very viable, and Despair is... fun.)

The Kraken and Seer should be here.

I use them in high level content all the time.

They might not be as great as these, but they are still powerful weapons.

They are decent weapons. the only issue is that it will be hard to convince the majority to use them, so I try to use some of the higher DPS ones since it's what people are going for it seems. I'll still list them though.

Castanas and Tysis, anyone?

Good choices. I'll add them as honorable mentions.

I would risk bolto here aswell, due to cephalon augment mod,

Sadly does not work with akbolto, it saddens me.

Will add as well.

Hikou are amazing.

I'll just add the Hikou Prime. The regular is fine, but people will most likely look at the Prime variant rather than the original, which is problematic

I prefer this build for the tysis but it required 5 forma (and patience)

High level enemy is not only all about raw damage, status effect are extremely important!

This build is aim for all--around but is extremely effective for me in T4 defense. Don't let the total damage fool you and here is why.

The corrosive effect will stack and thanks to that high status chance, the enemy will eventually take more and more damage. Viral damage will take away half of they hp, making it extremely good against enemy with a lot's of health (high level enemy). The electric effect will not only stun the enemy but will damage nearby enemy, boosting your <real> dps.

On top of that, you have a deadly punch-through that will inflict your status effect on multiple enemy, giving you some crown control thanks to electric as you debuff them (oh! more potential to raise your dps by doing so as well but is situational sadly =x!

Opinion?

Marelok isn't supposed to be a "DPS" oriented secondary, it's just a very reliable pistol that does a **** ton of damage. Personally, reliability is the most important aspect of a secondary weapon, even if they are much better than primaries. This is the reason why Brakk is so powerful, it has quick reload, quick fire rate, and can kill stuff right away. Weapons like Stug do a ton of damage but the mechanics are funky.

With that said though, great list. Although there's some that I would disagree with just because of questionable reliability (Twin Vipers/Wraith, Stug) those are the weapons that I have built up and found absolutely amazing to play with. Most of these secondaries are great to "main" while having an unconventional weapon as a "secondary" such as Opticor, Ogris, Penta, etc.

hmm..I think you should make a community weapon build tread =D

One that will include dps/status/void/ect. People could post they build and get a opinion about it. Telling newbie people how to mod they current weapon in a viable way. The section for status could include a brief explanation why to use them or idk. Dunno, just think every weapon deserve a <standard> build to help newbie and veteran =p

Just a random idea. Honestly I already enjoy this thread and is a good reference so far!
