So The Tenno Are The Douchebag Master Race Of The Universe Then I Take It?

So the Tenno wake up with amnesia©. Feeling that now would be a good time to harass the local sentient life forms and that is pretty much what we do all day.

We kill, sabotage, kidnap and steal our way through the universe as other races struggle to just get by.

The Grineer have genuinely interesting lore. A whole race suffering from genetic decay from their cloning who barely even possess human shape any more. They depend on machinery to function. Then the Tenno, some super soldier master race pounce on them and start killing them and blow up their stuff for no reason. We have no motivation to do any of the things we do other than a voice in our head telling us to do so. We have no people to protect. No planet to defend. We just fly around the universe wreaking havoc.

How are we the heroes? What are we anyway? What is our purpose?

There's even a mission were a Grineer scientist has found a cure for the Grineer genetic decay and so the Tenno are sent to kill him.... Just cause.

The Grineer are portrayed as arch type super villains but all they ever do is defend their own stuff against us. It's hard to take them seriously as villains when we are the ones always attacking them. We are the villains. Exterminating other faces who are near powerless to oppose us.

We are the freaking Empire and the Grineer and Corpus are the ewoks.

Lore wise. The Grineer alone are more interesting than everything else in the entire game put together.

or ... you know, it could be a beta and they are working on the core mechanics and fleshing out the story later.....

or something reasonable like that.

So in order to temper my murderous ways, I always wait for them to shoot first when I land.

Okay down founder boy. They already have your money so chill the **** out. There are no more medals being handed out

The point is that the current Tenno we have are villains while the hostile races who are supposed to be the bad guys in fact look like severely disadvantaged races who are *our* victims.

At the same time the Tenno are perfect super soldiers that just travel the universe. Purging it of lesser races for no apparent reason.

Arguably you could say it's because they're stealing our cryopods for the corpus at least.

What are our cryopods doing on Corpus planets anyway?

Something sinister probably.

well waking up from cryosleep with one faction hating your guts for no aparent reason while another faction sees you as tools to be used, then a reasonable reaction is hostility, is it not? of course you are going to be sent after the scientist that can help their race, they are the enemy and they hate every single tenno that exist, seemingly they always did

Who said we were the heroes? Being the heroes is boring. Moral nuance is where it's at.

Hell, we might just be mercenaries!

You give the developers too much credit. The Grineer are far too one sided for this game to end up with any kind of moral grey areas. The morality is criminally standard. They just haven't put it all on paper yet.

Then let me rephrase: Who cares?

It's a video game.

Play the game, dawg.

Well, the "Lore" is only there or not there to make this game more palatable to the imagination.  Honestly, it is just a game and just like some of the more entertaining movies out there, there's usually some plot inaccuracy and/or holes.

History is written by the victor in any war, so it all depends on the point of view when it comes to who is the hero and who is the villain,  I'm sure you understand that.

From what I gather the Grineer have dominated the universe and probably destroyed most of orokin and tenno civilization, so for us the Tenno to go about sabotaging, killing, etc it's not that unreasonable.  I suppose though a better strategy would be to comandeer a larger battlecruiser and simply blow them to bits, but then there'd be no game.

I'm trying to figure out where you get the right to say all of these things about the story before the story is even ironed out.

You're just being aggressive. MetalGerbil's right in his sarcasm.

As of right now the Tenno are a giant organization of super-villans. Conquering the universe.

I quite enjoy that style right now as very few games actually have you play the villans.

Sure they'll probably change it, but right now I'm digging the whole "evil conquerors" that the Tenno currently are.

Beta.

I'm pretty sure you mold the story of your video game around your mechanics, instead of trying to force mechanics on the story you had written.

It can work both ways. Bioshock is an example of a game where the story and world is set up before the game it built to suit it.

The Grineer are an extremely xenophobic and narcissistic race, interested only in propagating their own kind and becoming immortal through technology.

The Corpus are a corporate empire, living side-by-side with technology.

The Tenno are (supposedly) Orokin folks who woke up on the wrong side of the bed and want to take back their technology.

The Tenno and Corpus both, as far as I can see, have legitimate ethical reasons for their fighting. The Grineer are just jerks.

There is a way to fix it. Like the grineer bring the fight to the Tenno's home.

1. Orokin Towers Survival

You need to survive a onslaught of grineer or corpus or infested that have breached the orokin towers. You will need to survive in the starting room when we started the game.

There would be space breaches everywhere and the map would be shaky.

The Lotus would instruct you to survive until they send help.

2. Orokin Towers Rescue

You need to go rescue the stranded Tenno by killing Grinner or Corpus or Infested until you reach their point. When you reach them, there will be a max players of 8. You guys will need to bring them to the extraction point.
