So, since players are asking for pistols and daggers to be equipped side by side (meaning equipping a pistol and a dagger at the same time), why not just raid the Grineer stores during Survival for some tape, then tape the dagger under the pistol instead?

 

At least it is quick to do, and it fits the bill. Not to mention that you can bring another melee weapon too!

If you count the smaller one a dagger then half dagger.

Well, a Skana is a one-handed weapon, and (most) pistols are one handed as well, so why you couldn't you do that?  Would be an interesting, if impractical, fighting style.

Say, I were to make a sword and a dagger. I cut off the end of the sword that has the same proportions as the dagger, and then sharpen and shape the metal bit to fit a palm grip and pommel. Is my sword a dagger, or a broken sword?
