There's A New Macbook Being Released

I'm a huge Apple hater, because they make overpriced crap products and hype them up. But I gotta give it to them: they top the industry in design and marketing. If what they say about the new MacBook is true, that they invented the 'force sensors' and the 'butterfly switches' themselves, then I'd say props to them for standardizing the technology to be used in thin notebooks by other brands.

Still overpriced as heck, with a crap operating system. Don't even get me started on Finder.

That never existed. Back when Nintendo and Sega dominated the gaming market, you'd have kids on playgrounds arguing about which one is better as opposed to internet users duking it out on online discussions.

Really? To be fair, I had the luxury from being secluded from all the other kids when it came to that stuff and still just played and enjoyed myself. Ah well. Wish it could be like that everywhere... I mean the non-wars. Not the seclusion.

Edit; Aaaactually... There WAS this one time I got into an argument about Spyro being cooler than Crash Bandicoot...

That's mobile, though. How many good laptops are out there that you know of that aren't gaming laptops? If you could pick between a desktop (I mean a *good* one, not just decent,) or a Mac, what would you pick? I'm being completely honest, I swear to you I won't try to hold anything against you, I legitimately want to know? Besides, PCs are just getting so much better, and those horror stories are probably because those people didn't know what they were doing. My grandfather even used to repair computers for a living, and they were simple housecalls with a new part in hand.

I'm back in school, so I do my serious gaming on the PS4. My Macbook Pro 13 inch is 5 years old, and mostly relagated to older games and casuals. It won't die though, so I have trouble parting with it. My 10 year old black macbook is still in my brothers possession. Though it must always be tethered to the power cord now.

Given the choice I would always pick a Mac and just dual boot it. Unless money was no object and then I would have everything.

I personally don't understand all the hate. It isn't Apples fault that hipsters are attracted to the product, and the overpriced perception has been false since the mid 90's. The price may still seem high because apple only makes higher tier products. If you try to make equivalent products from any company they come out +/- $200 from that of Apple. And I would argue that their are aspects of Apple's vertically integrated platform and halo products and services that can't be matched. If you set your standards to a narrow field of what a personal computer should be and optimize your choices only to strengthen that world view than sure, Apple must seem stupid.

You should consider that gamers and tech geeks are not the majority of PC buyers. People who barely care and mostly buy on price are PC buyers. And they bare a share of the bad reputation that generic Win-clones suffer. Buying Apple is buying a curated, and vertically integrated product suite. Apple has directly owned stores in every major city to provide support (FOR FREE), And even offers lessons for the computer illiterate. Apple offers a machine that has more UI/UX consideration, software integration, and highest customer satisfaction rating for more than 10 years running. So, those real majority users of PC are on average better served by an Apple. And that is why I was comfortable taking their money (I hate retail).

... Damn that last answer. Well, you can have the Mac. Not saying it's bad. Expensive? It really kinda is... And it's really not the best gamer's tool either. I do remember saying earlier that it was more just for business purposes... Most of my actual argument was just about how Apple itself sucks. Edited by WingedCrusade

Not claiming that Macs are preferred gaming machines. They aren't built as such. I refute that you can't run them, I refute that they are overpriced, for what they are on their own merits they are competitive. I personally prefer the platform enough to sacrifice some of the flexibility gained from a custom PC. Partly because many of a custom PC's strengths are frustrations to me, that I would rather not bother with. So, I don't always have an optimal gaming PC in a Mac. I however am usually fine gaming on the PS4, for now.

I would also seriously refute that Apple itself sucks. Again, why is it Apples fault that hipsters and tween flock to the brand. Should they say no to the money? Apple is one of the only company that reports detailed metrics of its sales. It has by far the best record in environmentalism, and is actively trying to improve worker standards in the same factories its competitors use. It treats its own employees pretty well, and is challenging federal and state law on equality standards on race, sex, and LGBT issues. I could go on and on. And it does all this while making fewer acquisitions than its competitors, and lobbies the government less.

I whole heartedly disagree with the overpriced argument for the reasons I have cited above over and over again. Apple competes in the higher tier computer market. That doesn't make them greedy, it makes them operate differently with a different goal set and consumer target. Why can't a company do that? Why must they be like Microsoft and operate of FUD, vaporware, and strangle the market with a monopoly on the three product they have that actually makes them any profit? Or be Google, and make good enough products that feed ads everywhere and self user data? Or, be linux and rest the responsibility of getting anything done on the users. Sigh, I am entering the realm of generalizations and prefer to stick with what I know and can back up with citation, but I am responding to an argument that is, Apple is stupid, and expensive.

Ah... I... Well, I'm no stupid male, I know when I've lost but - Apple really does all that? Hunh! That comes to me as a surprise.

And hey! Don't make my argument seem like it came from a degenerate! I'm stupid, but not an uneducated moron...

Also, not my intention. That you are willing to consider what I am saying makes me feel less salty. This stuff hits a nerve as I have recognized a good thing in Apple and watched be denigrated for good and ill for so long. Now Apple is doing amazing and it still isn't good enough for people. Just need to be happy with what it is and not concerned with what people think. Thank you for acknowledging my point of view.

Lol, naturally they lead with the most expensive model. Its like MSN comparing last years iPod to the newest Zune(I kinda dated myself there. does anyone even remember those?). The one true maxim when reporting Apple news, paint Apple in the least flattering light and anyone else in the most. The standard smartwatch is $350. The Edition version is a custom alloy 18k gold watch.

"The base level watch costs $350, but you can pay a lot more for a better model if you're so inclined." So, funny. This reads like you must pay for a more expensive model to get a good product. The SmartWatch is essentially the same across all categories. Your just paying more for moving from aluminum with plastic bands to stainless steel and more fancy bands to 18k gold and crazy exotic bands. You know, like watch people are wont to do.

Aren't those materials kinda overdoing it?

Also, I'd be a hypocrit if I'd ever say I would never actually USE an apple product - I'm on an I5 right now, and will most likely end up sticking with iPhone since I'm so used to its interface... Not like I'll go out of my way to buy every new phone off the shelf though. Geez. They come out with a new phone just about every year.

Still, 550$ is still too much.

Ugh Apple I hate them with a passion. Seriously a few cm thinner whoa.... I mean Apple get's the job, but it's hella expensive once it breaks down and you have to replace a part and by part the whole friggin thing. Seriously half the things I see featured on there seems more like a gimmick, rather than practical, especially that one usb part.

It's like buying a car, only to have to buy a new one cause you broke a part that could easily be replace.

Honestly, I have to attribute something to the fact that a Mac was really one of the first convenient computers made, now that I think about it. Steven Jobs/Wozniak actually created the Mac, and started Apple. Without them, we, for the most part, wouldn't have computers as we do today. They'd probably be the 80's style PCs from Alien that ran on Syntax. Or for anyone who doesn't know that movie, then the game Fallout's Terminals.

For a stainless steel smartwatch? Please, it is typical! And the sport addition aluminum starts at $350, very average.

Again, too expensive. There's a lot more on the market for even cheaper than that yet still hold up very well.

I completely forgot an argument even took place here. It's died down to just idle chatter at this point.

To be fair, how many cheap smart watches do you know of...? This one you kiiinda have to consider the fact that it's still a blooming market for smart watches, and look at the materials it's made of... Titanium doesn't exactly grow on trees. Neither does Sapphire.

Meh.

If it is made of titanium it is the price of a average watch.

Titanium watches vary from 200 - almost 3000 dollars generally sitting at the 300 - 500$ range.

And that isn't including smart watches.

So it is a relatively decent price.

Competition is low, and resources are scarce. Both of those means good profit.

Truth. I love to speculate what the computer industry would look like if they hadn't disrupted it. How long and who, would have eventually broke out the PC, and how would it have played out?

Seriously, no! Not true, even in thee slightest. And this is what doubters said about the iPhone. Even though many smartphones at the time cost the name or more than it did. People chose to compare subsided phones to the iPhone at the time. I wouldn't count the Apple Watch out yet.

I actually wish I didn't post this thread up.

Talk garbage about something someone cares about, then be prepared to face blow back. I am a Warframe veteran. I watched the game for a year before it came out on PS4, played almost immediately after it came out, on PS4. and have over 900 hours and am MR17. I have over 900 post on this forum(point is a ain't no scrub, lord). I am disgusted with how ignorant and and inconsiderate people are. Just because the Mac isn't a preferred gaming platform or fits your PC use case. You think it gives you the right to denigrate Apple users. Give me a break. Well you can try, but I will fight that garbage, every time.

I'm fully aware of facing others who don't agree with my posts. What, you think I'm new here, you think I haven't been in arguments before? I've been in arguments that lead to hell and back, I've had people look me up and threaten me that I'll be reported to the police for holding child porn. I've been here longer than you ever will and I've experienced the worst of this forum.

What you think you're so high and mighty because you won the argument over us? And you say you're disgusted by us, I'm disgusted by this response.

Lol, seriously! you have dealt with some real scum bags. I'm sorry. I'm just salty. Hate on.  No, just salty. Seriously though, that sounds horrible.
