So, I Was Doing A Random Mathematics Question Given By A Friend... (Off Topic)

And the question was as thus (using true bearing):

There are four farmers that live in an area. Farmer Fred (F) lives at the bottom left corner of the area (known as: (0m,0m)). Farmer Uru (U) lives 3000m away from Fred, and the bearing of Uru from Fred is 30˚. Farmer Charles © lives 2500m away from Uru, and the bearing of Charles from Uru is 0˚. Farmer Ken (K) lives 1575m away from Charles, and the bearing of Ken from Charles is 260˚.

1. Find the distance between K and F, and the bearing of K from F.

2. Hence, find the area of FUC K (in the question, there is no space, but thanks to the censor filter here, the space is needed).

That friend told me that this came from a Cambridge past mathematics paper, and I doubted him, because in no way, would any of the people creating the questions would miss that glaring loophole.

And besides, those names are crap, so that probably gave it away too.

F (0, 0)

U (3000*cos(30)  , 3000*sin(30) )

C(2500, 0)

K(1575*cos(260), 1575 *sin(260) )

Distance between K and F

FK = F +U+C +K = (x, y)

bearing:

tan = y/x = angle

Area:

(FK x FU + UC x CK) /2  = F U C K

Is it really that easy?

edit: fixed typo

You already tripped on the first hurdle and smashed just about everything from there.

F (0, 0)

U (-3000*cos(30)  , 3000*sin(30) )

C(-2500* cos(30), 2500*sin(30) )

K(-1575*cos(290), 1575 *sin(290) )

^ ..., i should ve googled the translation of "true bearing" before.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Read the question again:

Farmer Charles lives 2500m from Farmer Uru (i.e.: Distance between Charles and Uru = 2500m).

That means you messed up for the coordinates of C, and then messed up everything from there.

i transformed the relative coordinates into absolute coordinates. In my opinon i did everything right. if not, than i translated something wrong from english into my native language.

edit:

i still dont get the problem.

U -F = FU

C-U = UC

K-C = CK

CK + UC +FU  = FK

You have translated it wrong.

For one thing, even your coordinates for U is wrong as well.
