Over-Reliance On Purchasing Platinum

I am not an experienced player, but have logged enough hours to realise that this game, for perhaps the newer user, requires Platinum when new weapons, equipment and Warframes can only be experimented with after separating with your cold hard cash.

Additionally, it seems like since the latest patch, even more items in the store must be bought with Platinum.

I personally have not bought any Platinum and still have fun with the game, but aside from modding and acquiring blueprints, I have not found much in the way of customisability.

"? Alerts" give you blueprints for all weapons you can't buy the bp for normally, allowing all things in the game save for color palettes, boosts, sent accessories, avatars, and inventory slots to be acquired sans plat.

You have your starting plat amount, and you can use it for colours, slots, anything you like. The rest is buyable (is it a word?) for credits, or you can find BPs in [?] alerts. Pretty much everything is possible to get without spending single $

Also, colours and boosts are that important? Really?

I mean... REALLY?

And I think, that this amount of slots is just fine. I don't need more weapon slots. Maybe one WF...

Thats most of the content in the game, i hope you realized that.

I see a breakdown in communication forming in this thread.

All weapons and warframes can be crafted through blueprints either purchased from the Market, or gotten from Alert Missions.

Cosmetic items limited only to colors and sentinel parts can only be purchased with plat.

Additional spots for guns or warframes can be purchased with plat, but you start with 50, so I suggest using your starter plat on slots.

Unlike some F2P games you can actually play this game without spending any money at all if you wish, you just have to save up a lot of credits. So that's good. Yes you wont have everything all at once but if you have the time and inclination you can actually do it. The flip side is its not free to make or maintain a game like this so if you find yourself liking the game show some love and drop a little cash. No where else in the world can you get a product for free that took thousands and thousands of man hours to create.

No, no, no. You have weapons and blueprints in market. Every weapon buyable via market has coresponding blueprint to buy. Weapons that are not in the market - are craftable with [?] alerts blueprints.

I don't think, that we need big, flashing "ATTENTION! YOU CAN BUY BLUEPRINT INSTEAD OF READY WEAPON" banner.

that being said, I think there are guns (sicarius, STRUN, etc.) you can buy without resort to platinum?  Hopefully that will go to some melee weapon as well (Skana *should* be credit purchasable as a starter weapon, not sure if the plat move is intentional)

I think by the time you get all the credit guns maxed out hopefully you should come across missions that gives you blueprints for warframes or weapons.

You have not brought any platinum. Your words. You are as much use to them as a chocolate tea pot. No money, no game. They will be gone in under a year. I do not understand why people think and believe that free to play means free to play. You are not being hit by advertisements every 30 seconds. How can anyone make something and give it away for free? No one in the history of the world ever made something and gave it away and then become rich and powerful or could ever have the money to upgrade that product without adverts or micro transactions.

Remove the free to play tag and make it a trial period that allows you to play after the trial but not with Hek, Paris and Glaive etc. If you want to see what the game offers in the market after your trial, pay some money or just leave. Having free to play and expensive buys mean you are dragging the gutter and expecting to go to the best parties at the same time. Tramps and the rich don't mix.

This isn't personal at you OP but I'm sick and f'ing tired of the whining about its not really free to play. I came to Warframe to play with like minded gamers who spent a lot on games and their rigs. People like me. I thought Warframe would be a good place to avoid people who should be playing minesweeper and solitaire. Walk away if you can't afford to play. Or be silent and enjoy the farm fest. If you don't enjoy farming, this game is not for you anyway. Just stop wanting what everyone else has. Your mate has a Ferrari and you own an Escort? Tough S#&$, hes luckier and richer than you but with Warframe you can own that Ferrari, you just have to work for it.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree.  I think both you and the OP would benefit from watching this video from Extra Credits.  http://www.penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/microtransactions

Importantly, having more players (even non-paying players) is a good thing.  But charging for convenience is also okay.

Don't even bother trying to argue with him. He just said that platinum was a good purchase because stuffed kittens can cost more.

I am quite used to grinding and have no problem with that. But I don't sit watching the alerts twitter feed constantly waiting for a new mission.

I also have no problem with investing money, and I have more than enough to do so. My concern was with the fact that for a newer player who wanted to customise their experience from the start out gear, might find themselves awfully tempted to buy Platinum, perhaps only then to realise they don't like that weapon, warframe etc.

You need Plat for colours, weapon/warframe slots, boosts and avatars.

That's it.

You may as well need plat to get forma considering how grindy the rng on top of rng needed to get them for free.
