Can't Finish Scanning Guardsman For Simaris

I've done 8 before the 'whole world' scan was completed.. Do I understand correctly that the target I need can no longer be found and the guardsman lore is lost for me forever?

No, you still have a personal goal of sacnning him, if he's not showing up on missions go to simaris and activate it by targeting him as your personal goal

If you go to the lore console, behind Simaris on the left, you should be able to select it as a personal goal, and finish them that way. I don't know if it will have saved your 8/10 progress.

 

(How did you miss the Guardsman scanning window? They were the goal for about 3 months.)

Go to Simaris in the relays go to his control to the left where the lore is. Press Guardsmen and see if u can select it as target. If you can do it, problem fixed if you can't then I don't know

It has been fixed on the XB1. I was able to go back and get my last two Ancient scans right after the most recent update.
