Actually, that isn't quite true. Migrating to a 'newer' build has to be supported anyway (since it needs to be done for anyone that stopped playing, or indeed when the patch is released anyway) - the other way certainly has 'issues'. Both the ability to replay events (if it hasn't been released on console yet), and the issue of people taking plat into the console environment, rather than buying through Microsoft/Sony. DE would LOVE to be able to offer it (nothing negative for them, and makes gameplay easier => more players) - but the limitation is imposed by the people in control of the 'walled garden'.
